Optimization or Content ?
Hey y'all,
I just did the update after a week without playing, and I had several bugs when event happened, the kind of bugs console players have, and I admit it's becoming tiring to see more and more bugs...
So I'm curious, and I'd like to ask you :
Would you like BHVR to optimize the game for an entire year or more if necessary (or less maybe !), or continue as they are doing ?

I would like them to optimize the game for the required duration to do so.
At this point, BHVR has been made well aware that the overwhelming majority of the community wants them to focus on game health instead of adding new content. They just do not care

They can continue as they are doing currently.
Rather have new Content to be honest, If they just focused on game health and adding nothing new then the game will just start getting stale. For 5 Years nothing has changed, it's the new Chapters and map updates that change the gameplay even remotely.

The performance keeps getting worse and worse. New content is pointless if game becomes unplayable.

If any player is experiencing hitches/freezes then that affects literally every other player in the game.

It makes me think each time I've seen a broken dead hard from console players.

Ill say it once and ill say it again, this game will straight up die if it goes longer than 3 months without legit new content (not new cosmetics).
People NEED new killers/maps/survivors/perks to stop this game from becoming stale, it will very quickly die off if they do that.
I know consoles are having quite the problem right now, but they already addressed that theyre fixing it, and no content drops are being held back to do so.
Wish you put a "both" option on the poll, because thats what they should keep focusing on.

Unfortunately new content is required to keep the community interested. I feel a lot of sympathy towards previous gen console players as I used to be one but it feels like it is a lost cause now.
Hiring a couple of extra people to do Q&A and bug fixing wouldn't do any harm though.

I mean we all know what the devs will do....what the investors tell them to do.

I find it strange how polls like this one keep popping up like they had any meaning to the devs lmao

Well people need it, in fact in 3-4 months a few people would leave, but the comeback of the game would immediately brings them back, as the big final update of Borderlands 2 did (7 years after the release of the game).
Plus, a big optimization would make any further content far more easy to do. When you have a spaghetti code, with terrible conception, everything is so difficult, and will ask more hardware resources than usual.
In my opinion, this is a win-win situation for them, they would be more confortable to add any content, and we would have a sane gameplay and updates.
And you can't do both : if you're adding content to a code, you have to add a code that is working with the current code. So if the base code is disgusting, what you'll add to it won't be a good piece of code.
Like a house, you don't add rooms if the floor and foundations are unstable. Developing is the same. So you can't do both. Trust me.

Well, tbh I do this kind of poll to make feedback team's work a little bit easier.
(But the last poll I did, which has a certain success and answers, has been totally ignored and I can't find it in my old posts, like it has been deleted so.....
I guess it's useless, but I'm the naive kind)

They just did both, they are releasing a patch to fix console issues without it affecting the current chapter schedule

As if they can even possibly fix the game

That's not a long time code that was done, it's impossible.
The next major update, there will be yet another bunch of bugs and lags, because the code is terrible and spaghetti.

Gods what I would give to have this game optimized for consoles (PS4 here) to run smoothly and consistently.

For us that have so much gamebreaking problems there is only one answer.
I love new content. I really do. But what is the point if the performance issues are making me lose interest in the game and I play so much less than I did back in the day.
I mean what really is the point if nearly everything is freezing our game.
This is a serious problem.

It’s kind of hard to look forward to content when it is hard to enjoy it because of terrible optimization.

IMO the new maps do NOT have good performance vs the older ones. Backwater swamp feels more responsive than other maps that have received overhauls. I think that Unreal gets people into the Game of MAKING games. But that is about it. Unreal feels and runs "bulky". Vs being refined.

Definitely optimization. There's so much more that this game could be, but it's being held back by bad and old coding and a framework that can't handle the stuff being added. It's going to keep getting worse as they add more content and chapters. I don't think with the large amount of content it already has, and the large player base and streamers, that your game would just die if you spent time fixing the game. In fact I think most people would be happier. Better graphics, better optimization, and the ability to add more stuff without issues? That's a lot more wanted than a new killer every 3 months.
This game wouldn't die from lack of new content.

Can't really enjoy the content when your game doesn't even run so yeah.

The amount of new content they push feels so rapid, like every week there's a new killer or I am just getting old lol. There's so many perks and characters in the game now, I think it's time to focus on quality of life changes like actual graphic options like every other game does it. Let console users change settings too if you don't bother optimizing the game for them. That way PC users don't have to suffer from degraded visuals every update, just because certain consoles can't run the game.

I also added balancing and quality of life updates to my answer for optimizing. Several TLC patches are needed.
