The Forbidden Tactic to getting Adept Killer achievements.
When doing adepts, I'm really paranoid about two things:
- The last person escaping through hatch.
- Not getting enough points in the "Chaser" emblem category.
The frustration I have when I see every emblem as Iridescent, except the Chaser one which is probably silver or something, is insane. And someone escaping through hatch can feel like they just stole your achievement form you.
Here is how I fix both of these things...
Firstly, If there are two survivors left, you are chasing someone on their death hook, and you don't know where the other person is, DO NOT hook the person you are chasing. That gives ample time for the other person to find the hatch and make you cry.
Instead, try and act friendly. Crouch, hit the air, nod your head, just make them think you are a friendly killer. If they trust you and come close to you, gesture for them to follow you. If they just keep running away or don't follow you, slug them.
Now, you either have a survivor following you (or slugged), so you know where they are. Now, go and find the other person. Patrol key areas, and try to make the survivor following you understand that you are looking for the last person. The survivor you're with might be reading the last guy's aura, so follow them if they are leading you somewhere.
You would've found the last survivor by now. Hook them, and the friendly survivor you're with will be expecting you to give them hatch. NOPE. Betray them, down them, hook them. If they're slugged, you know where they are, go back to them and end the game.
Now, for the Chaser emblem, the hardest one to do yet the simplest. All you need to do for it is to find survivors & hit them. How do you do this as most as possible?
If you feel in control of the game, do these things:
- If you down someone on their death hook, leave them slugged so they can recover/be healed. Then down them again, rinse and repeat. Keep farming hits from them until you've downed them about 4 times in a match.
- Don't be scared of survivors wiggling off. If they do, you can get more hits from them.
- Delay survivor death hooks as long as you can, without hurting your chances of winning. A person out of the match means no more hits from them.
- Proxy-chase survivors by finding them, looking backwards so you're still chasing them but not looking at them. The game thinks you've lost them. Look back at them & repeat. You can make one chase into five chases.
Remember, only do the things above if you feel like you're dominating the game and there's no way the survivor are able to win.

It’s kind of a dick move to act friendly and then ######### a survivor over. Adept killer achievements are hard, I get it, and a survivor should never trust a killer, but still a bit dickish.

Killer adepts are going to get a lot easier when we get reset to 20 every month, so there'll be no need for any of this
0 -
Dick move, yes, but It will get you a rare achievement, and the survivor you f*cked over will forget it in 15 minutes.
3 -
Aren't ranks only partially reset though?
4 -
The point of achievements is that they ARE achievements. You were able to have a nearly perfect match using only 3 perks most of which have no synergy with each other or even the killer. Why even do the achievement if you didn't do it skillfully?
5 -
I think with MMR comes future rank rewards and it would be logical to reset them completely instead of only partially at that point in time.
1 -
The tactic I shared is used in the endgame, involves only two people being alive, both on death hook. That very much takes skill mate, there's no way the tactic can be used if you didn't play well.
This tactic is only useful for if you played extremely skilfully, but the game's RNG and emblem system decided to f*ck you over.
2 -
Don't use the first tactic. If survivor one leads you to the survivor two after you've taken 'friendly' contact, you both will be reportable for teaming, even if you kill everyone in the end.
It's already happened and then people came here on the forum to cry. A potential ban is not worth Adept.
Here's a better strategy. Take note of where the hatch is before you hook the next-to-last survivor. The end.

I have gotten the achievement on several of the killers without tricking the survivors. That is what it is to be Adept. Getting the achievement by having the skill to get merciless by using only the three perks that a killer starts with.
Doing it the way you described is not a show of skill and not truly earning the achievement.
1 -
Ranks will only be reset to 20 each month when MMR arrives which means that adepts are going to be significantly harder with a killer you already played a ton.
There will be no difference in the skill level of survivor based on reset when that happens
0 -
The survivors you go against will be the same, but the emblems will be a lot more forgiving.
2 -
Anyone can get an adept in any way they want as long as it is not bannable. If they get it, they have the skill for it whatever method they use.

You can easily hook two or more survivors with NOED during endgame with little skill. Combine it with Blood Warden and it is even easier.

On average my chaser is always gold the other 3 are iri.
SO ANNOYING
0 -
I'm talking about ADEPTS here. NOED isn't a unique teachable perk! Jesus christ man.
1 -
Ok I will give you that on NOED not being applicable. The tactic you describe still isn't a show of skill. The survivors are not on the defensive because you tricked them. Part of being adept is being able to counter what the survivors are doing to stay alive.

The problem is more the artificial increase in difficulty because of the Emblems. Like, I had an Oni-Daily lately, so I decided to try to get my Adept. What did I get? 3 Iridescent and 1 Gold, because the Chaser Emblem was only gold, because I got punished for using my Power 4 times on healthy Survivors (and near the end they did not heal, so I was not able to remove that many Health States either).
Outside of Red Ranks I would have gotten my Adept. So I gladly take on the same Survivors when the Emblem System does not require me to have 4 Iridescents.

ya gotta do whatcha gotta do

Tbh the only thing that should be changed is the fact your adept is pretty much rip if a survivor suicides on first hook or DC's. Either should give you full points for a sacrifice.
0 -
You are correct, Forgot emblems are more forgiving at lower ranks
My bad
1 -
I refuse.

It a single achievement really worth screwing over another persons enjoyment? An achievement is a one off accomplishment that likely only you will care about. The fun of other players and yourself is something that carries through multiple matches and beyond. Do good unto others and perhaps karmic justice will grant you that achievment in one of your matches.

Some killers have HARD adepts because they’re just bad at getting emblems. Plague, Billy, and Myers all pop into mind. Some killers easily double pip like Legion while others suffer.
When they implement MMR and everyone resets back to rank 20, it’ll be a lot more forgiving to double pip.
I have all of the adepts currently but if I get a PS5, I’ll have to redo them all again so that’ll be torturous 😭

When they fully implement mmr, they're changing Rank Reset so that we get rewards at the end of the month based on whatever rank we're at and then everyone resets to 20
0 -
I don't know, honestly. As of right now, people are getting "reset" to one colour less than the rank they had, which means that they will still be matched with people from those ranks, mostly. When we'll all go back to 20 (which is what it should have always been), EVERYONE is going back to 20.

Are you saying that on Ash 4 getting merciless will be way easier than on Iridescent 1?
1 -
fair. one of my favorite games was against a "friendly" ghostface using rancor (I was lucky enough to be the obsession) and noed.
none of us got out of that match, but I still appreciated the prank.
0 -
Yup. Grade reset is when I go for killer adepts now.
2 -
Welp we learn something new every day. You just saved me probably a LOT of headaches. xD
0 -
You can still get adept with a survivor escaping via hatch, especially after a reset.
0 -
No problem, go get those adepts :)
1 -
about the last one. You can't search for the hatch before hooking second to last survivor. it appears only when there is one survivor left

The post you're commenting on was made August 15th, which was before patch 5.3.0 released on October 19th and changed that.

haha rank reset go brrr

Pretend to farm with the survivors, and then when you nearly hooked all of them twice, start to injure/slug some of them so they think you are farming the healing/hit points. Then leave 2 slugged, 1 hooked, and chase the last one. Slug, hook, and then hook the rest.
Make sure each time you hook a survivor you immediately run away from the hook, to hopefully get far enough away you don't lose too many chaser points

Karu, the hero I need, but not the one I deserve.
Why no horse pictures? Smh.

People weren't ready to hear this. You told them the truth and now their whole world comes crumbling down.

Nevermind It's still impossible to get merciless. When gens pop 30 seconds into the game even on Ash IV, there is not a single chance I can get it, especially with how some perks are absolutely trash for some killers. Funny thing is, I 4K'd with Myers on Ormond once with 3 gens still standing... That gatekeeping alone should have been iri... nope... gold emblem... robbed of my merciless just like that.
I stopped trying, getting merciless is just absolutely impossible on killers, it's an ass achievement... Revert it to 4K, that alone with current gen speed and the meta builds is very difficult to achieve.

The emblem system is so awful. The requirements are convoluted as hell and basically require survivor cooperation. 4K should be good enough for an adept. But whatever, I only cared about Leatherface, and I got it. So it really doesn't effect me too much. Still think it is designed poorly.
