MMR is constantly matching me with the wrong people
So I have 2.8k hours in the game and I consider myself to be a highly skilled survivor. But I don't understand why I am constantly getting teammates and killers who are literally new to the game, since SBMM has been activated. I just keep getting the feeling that I shouldn't be in the game that I'm in.
SBMM doesn't work with DBD in my opinion. Think about it... SKILL Based Matchmaking. There are so many things you can do or use in this game to win that doesn't require any skill. There's so much RNG and randomness as well that I really don't see how a system could work out your skill level AND match you with other people at that same 'skill' level.

Survivor is always the least concern with SBMM. Killers are always pitched against high-ranking Survivors who ######### on them (especially if they're new) or they're matched with new Survivors who don't even know how to complete a gen.

I mean.. for me it's been fine. The killers that I play a lot and play well have good mmr. The only bad mmr experience I had so far is killers that I play a few times probably cause I need to play more matches to properly be placed. I haven't played survivor yet though.

I haven't run into any issues with the matchmaking on the survivor side. About 3.1k hours. It's going off of a larger sample size this time, so if you haven't played as much in the last few months it won't have much to go on.
Overall though, yeah, I think the devs have a huge blind spot with their map balance and how that factors into all of this. A large portion of the killer roster can not compete against 4 high level survivors on many maps regardless of how well the killer plays. Zero excuse for map balance being the way it is IMO. A couple of my killers are high enough in MMR where I've run into Badham offerings and BNPs 3 games in a row. That's ridiculous. Killer lost on Badham against multiple Proves and BNPs. Obvious skill issue, yes.

The first day (day and a half maybe) was alright for me, I got matched with both killer and survivors with the same amount of hours as I have (around 600). But from then on I get killers with 1.5k+, I even got one 4.2k+. He was a streamer so I went to his stream to check it out and he was a rank 1 (I'm rank 6 - 9 after the reset). So I'm not sure what the MMR is taking into account there, he's clearly on a superior rank, he has x7 my game time, and you could see from the way he played that he knew what he was doing, it's not like he was trying a new killer or something. I don't know. I had hope at first but now the matches are not quite enjoyable tbh

^This. There's a reason why games like this are referred to as 4v1. Competitive teams have proven just how powerful survivors can be when a team works well together. Not to mention survivors have the added benefit of working together in a SWF, thus giving them constant information on where the Killer is at, and what the Killer is doing at all times. That's a "skill" that no Killer can compete with, which is why you hear so many players asking for a buff in some capacity if the game detects you going up against a SWF.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

I hate to break it to you but MMR is matching you up with people of similar MMR... If you are genuinely destroying every killer you come across then it will start matching you with better and better killers. If you never stop destroying the killers you play with then you're just the best player that has ever played this game I guess.

I keep getting slaughtered, but I freely admit I'm a newbie killer - just over 100 hours. It's not been any fun mind.

I think this is correct.
You claim to be highly skilled, but how are you using your skills? Are you chasing the killer all game to get flashlight saves? Are you running the killer around for 5 gens? If so these playstyles are unlikely to be rewarding you with good MMR, just like they don't for the old ranking system. The difference is that playing like this should keep you rank 1 status with the old system with black pips, but the MMR won't be so forgiving.

Don't worry, I have over 2k hours and I'm still not a good killer and an even worse survivor lol.
You will learn the ins and outs of it with time, just keep at it and don't let the game get you down :)
