Have yall noticed totem spawn spots seemed to have reverted to horrible?

There was a period in which DBD had horrible totems. For example, they would spawn in line of sight next to gens. Then the devs made an update where they became much more hidden. It was honestly nice.
I've noticed that recently totems seemed to have been reverted to their previous spawn pattern (i.e. totems can spawn next to gens in plain sight). I suspect this is because of the upcoming Boon totem survivor perks.
Has anyone else noticed this?
