This is why survivors can't know who the killer is.
Survivors: wow trapper is the killer, let's all put on small game, dead hard and maps.
Survivors: ghost face is the killer make sure we all put on spine chill.
Survivors: wraith is the killer, everyone take out your flashlights and equip blast mine or flash bang and spine chill
Survivors: blight is the killer, everyone use an indoor map offering.
Survivors: Myers is the killer everyone equip spine chill and we need maybe 1 person with object of obsession.
Killer: K I see 4 med-kits I'll put on sloppy butcher I guess?
This is why survivors can't know who the killer is before the game starts.
Also it's a horror trope for the killer to stalk its victims and prepare while the victims are clueless and unaware.

Tbf this the reason survivors can't know what killer it is

Survivors: spirit/nurse is the Killer so I guess I'll back out
16 -
Oh, it definitely is and it should stay that way, which is something we can all agree on, I'm certain. I just found the "eureka moment" in the OP funny.

Small game doesn’t work against traps anymore.
24 -
before the nerf obviously because there was a time you could know who the killer was and people would just run small game

I... didn't think this was a point of contention?
21 -
I mean the list is endless for why it would be a bad idea, if seen the argument about survivors needing to see and straight away I blank them.

Every post I see its like a circle jerk of an opinion.

Killers: I suspect an SWF, so I guess I'll back out

person who DCs to Spirit confirmed

Yep, this is what Killers do.
My favorite was a Killer (streamer) with over 10k hours, who dodged me because I have 6k hours.
@Topic:
Nobody really ever said that Survivors should be able to see the Killer. However, Killers also should get less information. Items are fine. Names or Profiles should be hidden.

I mean. Just for the sake of debunking cus you're almost always wrong in something:
- smallgame doesnt really work, Dead Hard would be equipped most likely anyway, maps only work if you track the trap after it's been placed. If it's replaced it no longer tracks.
- Spinechill is easy to deal with as a killer
- flashbang is pretty much the biggest counter to wraith, sure, the rest are pretty much irrelevant in public lobbies.
- blight performs fine in indoor maps. Heck, the hardest blight matches I faced were blights in indoor maps.
- again, spinechill is easy to work around, and object of obsession tends to work in Myers' favor
- 4 medkits? put on franklins, done.
There is an argument to be made that knowing who the killer is prior to the match can work out fine. The only killer that would truly suffer is Hag.
In fact, if killers are known to survivors, it's only fair that the killers know exactly what item and addons survivors are using, as there is no way to tell the difference between a brown or a purple medkit. There is no way to tell the difference between a green and a pink key.
The moment you can show a killer to survivors prior to the start of the match(and the items+addons of survivors to the killer) without heavily affecting the killers performance, is when DBD would be at its peak.
Heck, I'd argue there should be a 30 second time to lock in the survivor and the item, then show the killer and the items so only perks can be adjusted. That would prevent key switches, would prevent people grabbing specific items to counter the killer while still giving you time to adjust your perks to at least have some effect in the game(as some survivor perks are going to be 100% useless against some killers, just as some killer perks are going to be 100% useless against some items, it's nice to switch out, for both sides).

I don’t know who’s arguing against this. Neither side should see each other imo

hi tony

Who was asking for survivors to know ahead of time? And by the way, Small Game was nerfed. It doesn't do anything against Trapper, Hag or Freddy now :) It doesn't detect totems all that well either, actually.
1 -
Whats the point of this? Survivors cant see what killer theyre facing, and I havent seen anyone ask for this
2 -
I've seen people ask for it and they claim it's not fair the killer can see them but they can't see the killer.
1 -
I've literally not once seen anyone complain about it. Can you link me?
4 -
It's probably from the post where some killer main complained that survivors are able to change their items at the last second. It's apparently not enough that killers get to see the survivors and their items ahead of time.
2 -
Ummm he actually has a good point though so you can take your toxicity somewhere else.
0 -
I mean, nobody really asked for this.
You can also open a Thread with "This is why Survivors should not spawn in the Dying State" or "This is why the Killer should not have to search their weapon at the start of the Trial" which would have roughly the same effect.

Killers should always see survivors especially if they have flashlights and keys so they can adjust their build.
1 -
Okay but clowning’s comment was so uncalled for though.

That's a nice Strawman you're arguing against. What'd he do to you?

Xbox often gives tips on the match loading screen for the killer you are facing. It’s not the same thing, but I don’t like that.
I like finding out who the killer is in the match. It’s more “scary” that way.
1 -
This only happens during the first 1-2 games against a Killer. So if Pinhead goes live, every player will experience this in their first and maybe second game. Afterwards, there are no Tips anymore.
3 -
So many people going "no one is arguing for this".
when several people ARE arguing for this. because apparently asking for the survivors to not be able to switch into a different character/item in the very last second of prep time, is equivalent to "let me counter that specific killer"
5 -
Are you playing on Xbox? because I get tips about the killer I’m facing almost every game.
0 -
PC. How I wrote is the way it should be handled.
Would be strange if it is bugged only on XBox and you should open a Bug Report about it.
0 -
I don't really think they would change something like that from the PC to Console, and even then, It doesn't really change that much. You'll find out who the killer is a couple of seconds into the match anyway, unless the killer is just having bad rolls in where to look. And they can't switch to counter you, as everything they brought in has already been set in stone.

Don't know what @Aven_Fallen is playing on, but it's the same for me on PS4. I only see Killer specific information when the Killer is new (and general tips always).
0 -
same for me on XB1.
1 -
I got tips on the shape the other day, and he’s not new, and I have definitely played against him more than twice.
It doesn’t matter, I usually tune the tips out anyway.

It isn't.

What he said is like saying its a good idea to bring a umbrella if its raining.

It's okay Nathan, I was merely partaking in some minor tomfoolery.

I remember before they changed it so killer's couldnt swap characters in the lobby... I was abit paranoid about a program I saw going around that would allow players to see various things they werent suppose to see like which character it was and which perks they were using. I started doin the last second swaps so people couldnt prepare their perks specifically for the killer I was using. Maybe its just because I was looking more, but BOY did I see alot more people using calm spirit when I would pretend to be playing Doc and then swap to something else.
2 -
Low key, would love for the devs to go wild and just let this happen for a week and see what happens.
After the week they could give us the dodge numbers and see if it is a bad as we thought it would be be.

I'd classify people asking for this as pretty silly, to be honest. But it's very rare to see.
Only things I really see discussed at all is information available that isn't about their in-game setup, like usernames and any information their profiles might offer on the platform in question. Which is something I think no one should see before the game is over, not killers and not survivors.
Profiles are ultimately pointless anyway, if people don't want others to see something on there they can already just set it to friends only/private. And that just makes the weirdos that have convinced themselves there's no other reason to have a non-public profile than to hide SWF status/their 8400 hours/hide the 37 pages of -rep comments on their profile from other players... when I'm pretty sure friends only is the default profile privacy setting on Steam 🙃

Dbd mobile made it the best neither killer can see survs items and perks etc nor survivor can see killer and his add ons etc and no switching
0 -
Flashlights aren’t strong anyway so I don’t see why you need to change your build around them. Keys do need a full on change though
0 -
I do wanna apologize for my comment earlier as it was actually rude.
1 -
unfortunately it very much is to some
0 -
No, people complain that killers are free to check profiles for hours played and can see names and chose whether to dodge someone they know is better etc, and people argue that if the killer can see their profile the survivors should be able to see killer profiles but ideally nobody should be able to see anyones profile.

Perks were never visible using the tool (source: I know the person who made it)
2 -
They were (source: my own eyes. I tried some KYFs matches to find out EXACTLY how it worked)
Granted, they weren't revealed until DURING the mission. BBQ would only show up after the first hook for example.
Here was an example pic that was available online

I love not knowing who the killer is until I spot them or get in their terror radius. It's more unpredictable and thus fun for me. I'm always a bit bummed when I see a trap, cleansing pool or Jigsaw box right away.

That’s the same with me. Not knowing is one of my favorite parts about the game..

Edit: My Mistake this tool did exist, for a month.
