Why doesnt this game have a working anticheat?

Why is this games anticheat non existent? Almost every game i go into has modders, the highest streak of modders in a row i had was 104 (today). Like what is wrong with the devs that they let this happen? Even gta has less modders in this game. I just picked the game up a month ago, i have 170 hours, im trying to get good but how is this game supposed to be fun if 90% of the players you encounter are modding? Why cant they just start using an anticheat?

In this game I've only seen 3 people who were clearing hacking/cheating. Seen a lot of stuff that was suspicious but not enough to file a report. As much as I hate cheaters I also don't want the game to have too much power. I remember for Doom Eternal there was an issue with their anti cheat software. It was a mandatory update that was required to play the game. To make sure you weren't cheating, it basically gave the game colonel access to your PC whenever you turned on the game. That's like giving someone a copy of your house keys and your trusting them not to steal #########. When I heard about this update I uninstalled the game. I really don't trust BHVR or anyone for that matter to give them that kind of access to my PC.

IMO, most things that happen in this game can be explained by perks, latency or some mechanic you may be unaware of. Which is why I often post a thread asking "Is this a hack?" before I file reports. Hell, I've been accused of wall hacking for using BBQ.

I'd like to point that DbD isn't the only game that suffers under EAC's failing protection. Apex Legends also has rampant hackers.

same reason most multiplayer dont have working anti cheat, theres very few game with a consistent and working anti cheat

The simple answer is, there are more people attacking the game (basically anyone who has the game and has a computer) than there are defending (however many developers there are on the anti-cheat software team). So usually modders/hackers always win because its a resourcing issue.

Well i've seen some hackers but they're not common. Just lately played against a Trapper with some kind of fire cosmetics (like some kind of ultra legacy), who had some hacks which made finishing gens impossible, because skillchecks were non existent and as soon as you miss one all the progress got reseted to 0. Also he was like 200% speed when carrying people.

Some friends and I faced a Freddy who had a pretty unreal lunge. I've been playing since Freddy first released. I know his lunge and hit box are a little out of whack but this match it felt really odd. No clue if it was a hacker who was smart enough to make subtle changes to avoid getting caught or if there were some latency issues.

There is anticheat, but if you genuinely believe you've encountered 104 cheaters in a row the most realistic answer is that faaaaaar fewer people than you think actually cheat. I don't mean it in a mean way at all when I say that you'll see way less "cheaters" when you get more experienced, this is a game with a lot of perks, add-ons, powers and mechanics that can make it seem like people are doing stuff like wallhacking or speedhacking at first.

And anticheat is really hard anyway. It's a neverending arms race between cheat developers and anti-cheat devs, and the people actually making the cheats people use are by no means stupid. Not to mention Easy Anti Cheat isn't some homemade software BHVR invented, it's a third-party anticheat used by a lot of games. I have no doubt their hands are very full 24/7 as they're fighting against countless cheat developers developing cheats for a lot of games.

  • I find that unbelievable. I have played the game for 500 hours in 3 months and i don't believe i've countered a single hacker.

What makes you think these people are modding? I'd like to see your gameplay.

I think you just don't know all of the perks in the game, I'm guessing you call someone a cheater when they use a perk that you don't understand.

It's really obvious, teleports, movement speed mods, vault mods, heal mods, blind mods, repair mods........... the list goes on, i have enough clips exposing those worthless dogs

Tell me how finishing gens in 30 seconds or literally teleporting or using movement speed mods is being better?

30 seconds isn't actually that fast. 2 people, one with Prove Thyself can get that done by hitting great skill-checks.

Teleporting is most likely a result of the ass performance on consoles, dedicated servers, or high ping.

Speed mods could just be Sprint Burst or Lithe. Or, if it's a more subtle speed-up, it could just be Blood Pact or Hope.

    Because anti-cheat software doesn't work.

Modding could also be used for an unfair advantage. More than likely not the mods you see from your favorite streamer. But if you are able to change the character model of survivors or killers to something large and bright, how can that not be viewed as an advantage?

Can you describe what they were doing? I highly doubt they were hacking.

Certain survivor perks let you do things the base game doesn't, eg self care allows you to heal on your own. Medkits can allow you to heal insanely fast etc.

You should give the survivor side a look and see if you recognise any mechanics. Because I've only seen around 10 hackers in my time playing.
