Unpopular opinion, RPD is the best map right

As a casual player, I love the map, its feel so original compare to others, a lot of places to hide or loop, its make me feel like Im playing a true horror game and not a survivor simulator

Well I like the map as well but it certainly isn’t the best. It’s still big and confusing for non-RE fans to navigate.

  • Im a casual player too and i really like playing on the map. It's the best looking map right now. Definitely feels like one of the most immersive maps.

I definitely feel like it has balance problems though. As it's really hard for killers to find survivors sometimes. You can sometimes get 2-3 gens done at the start if everyone spawns seperated. I personally feel like this calls for a discussion on gen speeds and increasing the amount of gens on huge maps like this.

I don't like indoor maps in general -- they give a huge advantage to some killers and nerf the powers of others.

Like playing Billy on RPD, Midwitch or Lery's gives me miserable experience as an M1-only killer. On the other hand Trapper, Myers, Nemesis are strong there.

RPD looks kinda cool for a few matches.

The look and feel of the map are fantastic. I assume with time we will learn the configurations and spawn points and get better at playing it. BUT...It is too dark. There are places I can not see anything. I ran into a gen the other day in a dark hall and only knew what I hit because if I moved over I could see its silhouette in a door. I have had my detectives hunch lead me to a totem in dark areas that were so black I could not see myself while I was bent down cleansing it. I think this is a problem. Dim and spooky is fine, but Dead by Braille is not very awesome.

Immersion is only a small part of what makes a map good. Balance is the most important part, and it's severely wanting in that category.

Hey, I'm glad you like it, but I don't think it's a very healthy map for DBD. It's definitely a great map for RE2, but DBD is a different situation.

The layout of the map is very confusing (not everyone has played RE2), and it is also pretty damn big, making it even more difficult for both sides to navigate. It also encourages survivors to hold W because of the walls blocking the views of loops.

The map is difficult for survivors without a generator-tracking perk, such as Visionary. It's also difficult for killers due to the large amount of safe pallets. Oh, and need I mention, if you're playing ESPECIALLY Billy/Blight, or a 4.4m/s killer (excluding Spirit), it's painful as hell.

I think the map is boring af, but hey, at least it looks pretty.

Just because something is bad doesn't mean you can't like it. It's fine that you love the map, but there are a lot of problems:

Big maps have been an issue for a long time, and RPD is huge, with 3 floors if you include the upstairs library portion. Any killer that isn't a stealth or trap-based killer is going to have a tough time. It has the haddonfield "hedge-problem" where you can be right next to a generator but it'll still take you forever to actually get there because of the corridors. There are several areas that can become near-infinites if played correctly by the survivor.

Also good luck finding totems on that map without a specific perk.

Its terrible, just another Lampkin Lane in the map reserve. I wish they would rework the maps.

I actually love sending myself as Billy to midwich. Blight as well. You can’t curve too many of the loops but he gets through the halls so fast and most of the loops are so unsafe it doesn’t really matter; especially if you know you are going there and make your build for it.

It’s only bad when they are holding W away after seeing you at the end of a hall and you have no ability to catch up. Other than that midwich is very killer sided and probably my favorite map in the game.

I love it as survivor. As killer? Eh. Hit or miss. I prefer to be there because it is cooler than forest d or scrapyard b.

I dont hate it as much as other people but i only like it aesthetically. But i do respect your opinion

Yeah I hate it as killer and survivor, it's confusing to me and very difficult to navigate as survivor and its a massive map that intrinsically neuters many killers powers. Does it look cool? sure I wont deny that it does look good but the aesthetics of a map matters so much less then the gameplay of a map that it could look like a roblox clone for all I care as long as it plays better.

I really like the map too. It's not great for DBD by any means, but it's fun to navigate. I just hate this attitude players have where they'll throw a tantrum if they get placed there or if someone burns an RPD badge.

Ironically it's the easiest map for me to find totems on, but I also play a lot of RE so I know where to look.

I like that we have different kinds of maps.

Some of my favourite maps are the 'different' ones. Hawkins (RIP), Badham, Lerys, and Dead Dawg.

I think it's sad that people think every map has to be a Macmillan/Azarovs/Coldwind reskin. The base game maps are the most boring to play on.

I agree, if you are prepared for the map -- this changes (almost) everything ;)

My "safe" build on Billy would be Bamboozle, SBTFL, Brutal and BBQ + Father's Boots. On Midwitch I can use some chainsaw sprints, not sure about RPD

I can't stand it as survivor or killer. I play Mikey, even when I do monitor and dead rabbit the map is still horrible. Its so badly designed gameplay wise. It might be good for R.E. but not for Dbd.

I agree, i love indoor maps because they break the mold, I hate the original 3 realms with a great passion

Its one of my favs as well for the reasons you stated ^^

That being said some killers are severely outmatched by that map alone so I also understand the dislike for it.
