Silly Unhooking

Why do survivors try to unhook other survivors when the killer is still either very near or right there? It seems to be happening a lot lately and you can't even blame killers for taking the easy downs. Is there some technique here I'm missing because it's infuriating to get three people downed when it was avoidable.

lack of self awareness maybe or new. annoying when your solo que and they do it. in some cases if their on the death hook almost dead il do it and take the hit to let them get away and heal up. sometimes people just farm you which pisses you off but you know lol

They either impatience or they don't care about the consequences of it.

They most likely want easy points/emblems/challenges, and don’t care how annoying it is for anyone else.

I hate this kind of survivor more than any other and will tunnel them to death if I see one when playing killer.

I don't blame you. It's annoying for both sides. I consider myself quite a patient survivor so it's really annoying seeing three people rushing to unhook straight away and who inevitably get downed. Worst case scenario is they get downed and basement hooked and no offence but I ain't coming for you in that scenario!

    Silly Unhooking....Unhooks are for kids.

Anyone else think of the Trix Cereal commercials when reading the title.

    I'm weird

Also I have too many damn kids.

I was thinking about how to word it and that just seemed the best lol.

Perhaps it is down to inexperience and not knowing what things look like from a killer POV. That could explain not waiting until the killer has had enough time to move away because they may not realise the killer gets a notification when you unhook.

But I'm still at a loss as to why you'd do it right in front of them

Survivors don't have a reasonable fear of killers. Many of them feel that 1 survivor should be able to outrun and outmaneuver a killer for the entirety of a match, and all too often at mid-to-high ranks, that's exactly what happens. The "lay low, hide, sneak, and steath" skill set is virtually non-existent, because brazen looping is so absurdly strong against the vast majority of killers. These guys have the impression that they should be able to unhook in your face and still get away scot free.

And then, when they bomb-dive the hook one second after you've finished hooking the other person, they whine about camping. Like, if you're running right at the hook and haven't given the killer even 3 seconds to walk away, that's not camping. That's you being a really bad team mate.

i can't speak as to why others do it but if you are about to go into the next stage i will often pull and take the down. is it #########, sure but whats even more ######### is dying first hook because no one even tried for you because they need to make sure the grass is the same color all throughout the map

I've been asking myself the same question since I started playing and even I admit I do a little of this myself. I guess maybe teammates just want the WGLF stacks so bad. But I don't know.

I did it for the bloodpoints. Not going to lie.

You get 1000 bp for unhook even if it wasn't safe. Therefore they want to unhook as soon as possible before any competing teammate can arrive and steal those sweet bloodpoints. You have to lose a hook state for them to earn more. Thank BHVR for rewarding bp for unsafe unhooks: after 5 years they still don't see an issue here.
