    Potato by Daylight.

(Yes, the graphics were like this the entire match.)

This map is great against certain killers, others not so much. A stealthy Myers, Ghostface, Wraith are fun options, because of the long corridors, the sensation that they may be just around the corner when you are running. Those are fun, but I just had a match against a Nemesis, zombies blocking entrances, camping gens, you had to literally run around to make your way around them to get from point A to point B. I tried my best, did a gen, rescued a couple of teammates, but to be fair after 5 or 6 minutes just evading zombies it was getting boring af.

  • They should learn to do that on every map.

Yea, a lot of people really despise it, and I can't really blame them.

RPD somehow manages to be one of the absolute worst possible maps, gameplay-wise, for both sides simultaneously.

Personally I love it overall for it's many little cool details (the RPD basement looks so awesome and the zombie outside the window of that hallway made me giggle for a minute when I first saw it) and unique atmosphere.

But even though I love to see this map, I have to acknowledge that it generally sucks to play DbD on.

The map is a LITERAL dumpster fire and everyone can see it. I'm one of those survivors who REFUSE to play this map because of how boring, unfair, unbalanced it is. I'd say it's killer-sided because it kinda is, but it's not their fault. Not to mention it's LONG windy corridors, the insane amount of unsafe pallets, dead-end vaults, randomly placed Totems not to mention the lag and FPS drop it brings from time to time. I'd much rather keep the Demogorgon over this MAP and re-enable Dead Dawg + The game than ever, ever, EVER play that map.

In all honesty, it's the worst map in DBD history as far as I know.

I haven't seen you around and just had to comment and say welcome back! Glad to see you on the forums! โ˜บ๏ธ

I have not gotten to play on the map enough to have an opinion, really. I see it maybe once every other week and I almost always seem to go against the Twins which is just a curb stomping for Survivors. ๐Ÿ˜… Or it's Blight and that hurts just as badly.

I'd love to go against a variety of Killers on the map and really get a feel for it... That said, it's definitely getting the old Freddy treatment. The last few times I've loaded in there the Killer has instantly DC'd which is a shame.

Be cool if people just, y'know, played the game.

Like I get that the map has issues and some people don't like it, but all games have bad elements to them and I doubt the map is going anytime soon. I've been subjected to both Blight and Billy on that map, but I stuck through the game because it's still good practice and managed to have fun despite losing.

Justified tbh, and I don't usually justify suiciding on hook or DCing. The map is so ######### boring for both sides it's not even worth it.

  • Volfawott

I cannot stand that match as a killer or a survivor.

If I see the offering I'm straight up dashboarding during the offering screen.

I get on there naturally well and I'm playing killer it's a free escape for everyone because I'm just going to face a wall and go make myself sandwich if I'm a survivor well I'm also going to go make myself a snack killer is free to do with my body whatever they want to

Man I would love to play it more and get to know it better but the last 2 times I lucked out getting it, the game crashed within first minute and I ate DC penalties both times. Really annoying

Would have loved to see spencers mansion instead but thats just hindsight tbh. Yea there would still be corridors but there are quite a few open area's with the upstairs courtyard and main entry point in orignal RE.

To be honest 90% of rpd's problems could have been avoided if they split the map up into rpd west wing and rpd east wing. We still have enclosed hallways but at least map traversal wouldn't suck for both survivor and killer.

  • Seraphor
    Seraphor Member Posts: 9,421

This would have also allowed them top open up the corridors a little too, so that they were more comparable to Hawkins corridors. It might not be entirely true to the game's scale, but it would allow for players to pass each other, or dodge hits, a bit more easily when in a corridor, instead of being trapped for up to 20 meters at a time.

yep i can tell you i ######### hate this map .... someone used an offering and i was like when the map loaded ######### me just why lol .... finding gens was just ridiculous managed to make it out but that map in size is ridiculous hopefully in future they dont plan to make a map or chapter of that size or utter ridiculousness. i said in the end game chat why did you pick this? i said please in future dont. maybe pointless but says it all how this map is not fun whatsoever or a place i want to go lol

Thank you! That's really nice of you to say. I was on a bit of an unintended break because of a few comments that I should have thought a little more about making, lol. I honestly figured that no one would care of even notice that I was gone but several people have welcomed me back and I really appreciate it. It's nice to know that I said anything worth remembering. :)

In the past month or so I've also become super addicted to playing Kate. Her cosmetics are just so fantastic. Meg may always be my ginger babygirl but Kate is amazing. Have you come to feel better about her redesign? I'm used to it now, I still think that she looks great. I hope that she wasn't destroyed for you.

I don't know what it is about the map but it's just not pleasant to play. I think it's the OTT mixture of long winding corridors and warrens of interweaving rooms it just makes evading or spotting the killer too hard. By the time you see them they're on you and there is nowhere to go. Plus, there isn't enough variation in the gen locations so it's really easy for killers to plan for that.

I am surprised to hear killers don't like the map as to me if feels very killer orientated. I think they should have gone with the city streets... Which ironically were what they used to advertise the chapter.

We've seen The Game reworked, so hopefully the team is working on an update for RPD. At least I hope they've noticed the complaints. Until then, I wish everyone would just try their best because it's incredibly boring when one side just gives up. (Although I do kinda enjoy farming occasionally).

You're welcome! I'm sorry to hear that that happened but am glad that it was a temporary issue and that it's in the past. It'd have been a shame to lose a positive and refreshing member from this community!

What do you think of Meg's redesign? How do you feel about her hair - I remember you were concerned about it losing its redness? It still looks pretty red for the most part in my opinion! And they kept her determined facial expression. I think Meg is one of the ones who fared better in the redesigns.

Oh gosh... Kate... I'm so glad that you have warmed up to Kate and are appreciating her. She's got an amazing backstory and some very nice outfits (especially from former Rifts). I'll be honest though I'm pretty heartbroken about her redesign. In fact I had a whole post about people changing their mains due to being unhappy with the redesign and saw my opinion of Kate echoed pretty far and wide. Beauty is obviously very subjective and I'm genuinely happy for those who like Kate as much or more with her redesign, I'm just deeply unhappy with it.

I've been focusing on Nea now. I moved her from P0 to P3 and am now just grinding for perks. I've also been seriously considering being a Meg main!

Idk i like this map a hell of a lot more than Haddonfield. Jump scaring survivor's with a leaping Victor off of the open ledges onto a survivor doing the Gen by the exit gate is fun as hell.

Love the map when I'm playing RE2 but I've come to despise it in dbd. I count my blessings I usually have Windows of Opportunity on in my build when rpd gets randomly selected. The map just sucks. I'll attempt to play on the map as survivor but that map is so garbage for killers except Hag. I'll never get over how much every player has been robbed of what could've been with the raccoon streets and maybe only the inside or at least inside + bottom floor only (with not every room that's in there currently). That imo would've been a great map. I've become salty.

I haven't gotten that map in a couple days tbh. When I did it was versus a Mikey who couldn't use tier 3 to its full extent because the map is so freaking big with lots of hiding spots and we were all pretty far away from him. He didn't get a lot of value of his tier 3. Ever. I felt for him. God I hope they redo that map sooner rather than later.

  • Mister_xD

    same.

and if i happen to be the Killer on the map, i might just struggle a lot with finding my way around to stop gens - and who knows, maybe, if i am coincidentally close to an exit gate when the 5th one pops, i might just accept my defeat and open the door to stand in a corner and wait EGC out?

or my network might crash while loading in (map offering). sadly, i have been having some issues with that lately :/

Garbage for both sides? It's one of Wraith's best maps. Doctor, Hag, Legion, PH, Nemesis... There's a lot.

  • GoodBoyKaru
    GoodBoyKaru Member Posts: 22,810

I haven't played on it as Wraith, when I faced one on it we got a 4man escape with 6 hooks total. Pyramid Head is very good in chases on it but if survivors split up across the map you cannot defend every gen. I've won and lost on it as him, and most of the wins were survivors hardcore throwing by not knowing I could hit them through a wall.

It's a garbage map for Legion, Doctor does okay, Nemesis is only okay because of Zombies but even then that's completely RNG dependant, but Hag I will give you.

Now for other killers, it's meh for Trapper, awful for Billy, awful for Nurse, almost meh but bad for Myers, awful for Huntress, awful for Bubba, not bad for Freddy, very meh for Pig but her traps are pretty good on that map, awful for Clown, Spirit's only bad map, awful for Plague, meh for Ghostface, actually kinda decent for Demo, awful for Oni, very hit or miss on Slinger, awful for Blight, meh for Twins, and hit or miss for Trickster.

  • fogdonkey
    fogdonkey Member Posts: 1,567

I think there are some pretty strong loops for the survivors. A survivor who knew the map (used the map offering) was looping me pretty well, and there were some pretty long loops, I also noticed that sometimes even the chase was not started, so entity wouldn't even block the window.

  • GoodBoyKaru
    GoodBoyKaru Member Posts: 22,810

Like I said, garbage for both sides. The strong loops are offset by the garbage ones, the size is a detriment for both, as is the layout and generators being impossible to find

  • fogdonkey
    fogdonkey Member Posts: 1,567

And also with the current weird scratch marks it is sometimes quite hard to follow the survivors in the narrow corridors resembling a maze.

So I think this map is more survivor sided.

  • SonicOffline
    SonicOffline Member Posts: 918

Wraith still needs to know the map very well, just like survivors, but because of the insane move speed he can cover a lot of ground. Since everything is set up like a maze, he can gather a lot of data off just audio.

Completely ignoring if he has xray vision or generator auras. It's still dependent on how well the survivors run him, absolutely; it's still Wraith. Burt he can very heavily take advantage of the compact and stacked layout.

I appreciate that. I made a couple of unrelated comments that were meant to be completely innocuous but came across more poorly without the proper context. The mod I spoke to about it was polite enough to hear me out and get what I actually meant, but I also understood why my comments came across as offensive. It's cool, I agreed that it was ultimately on me to be more careful about how I phrase things. :)

Oh wow, I was SOOOOOOOOOOO upset about them changing Meg's hair! I have a special place for ginger gals because there are so few of them in this world, and they're so unfairly mocked for such beautiful uniqueness, and the color fits Meg's personality so well in my opinion, that I was honestly kind of shocked when the pre-release image made her look blond. I love blond hair, and dark hair, and basically any hair a woman may have, but Meg was a TOTAL redhead and it looked like they were taking away one of the distinguishing features that, to me at least, made her what she is. On a more specific level I was also kind of distraught that my favorite cosmetic in the entire game - Meg's "fortune teller" outfit, in which her hair is a blazing, deep red, was going to be totally different. I won't lie, as silly as it is to be this protective of a video game character I was nonetheless very relieved when it turned out that they kept her original hair color intact. I do think that one or two of the "triple braid" hairs are a little messed up, with the middle braid looking too poofy and messy, but beyond that I'm pretty happy. They also dirtied her midriff a bit in some of her outfits (like my aforementioned favorite one), which bugs me a little, but she's still the Meg I love. Same hair color, same expression, just like you said. I'm glad that she didn't get ruined.

I've totally thrown myself into Kate. I've spent probably close to $100 on cosmetics for these two ladies alone and I still don't even have all the ones that I want. As a straight man I find them both beautiful but I also love their determined personalities and unique sense of character. I'm just drawn to both of them. I tend to play with one or two characters in this game for a long while, trying out their perks and working them up to the point that they can share theirs and get my favorites from others, and then I move on to others. There aren't really any survivors that I DON'T like but after getting to Kate I quickly realized that she was my other favorite alongside Meg. I keep returning to these two time and time again. This last month I've been working on Jane, and because of the latest news I've fast-tracked Steve and Nancy, but I have the feeling that Meg and Kate will always be my special two. I want so much for a certain Kate cosmetic or two that I've seen in the past to finally become available, I don't know why they haven't shown up in the store yet.

Like Meg, I think that Nea gets a bad rap. Meg, Nea and Claudette seem to be the characters that a lot of people unfairly hate for some reason. I love Nea's cat-themed outfits (and was so happy to see Meg get a cat shirt this month, I grabbed it immediately) and her new blond hair. I think it fits her well even if the crazier hair suits her personality more. I like Nea's perks. I know people hate Urban Evasion users but I don't care, it's fun lol. Like with you I'm glad to hear that you're getting to enjoy new characters but I'm sad that Kate changed so much for you. Like you said, beauty is subjective, so I suppose I consider myself lucky that I never saw the huge worsening of Kate that many others did (probably BECAUSE I didn't main her and get super familiar with her beforehand). I still think she's ravishing, and don't find the negatively received changes to her to be as noticeable or dramatic as some other players do, but I totally understand the feeling. I mean again, I went nuts about something as simple as Meg's hair color. So while I definitely love Kate, yes, I definitely have sympathy for those who feel that they've lost her in a way.

I don't want to derail this post with too much off topic back-and-forth - this forum really needs a chat or private message option!

But I'm glad that your post was just a matter of context and that your ban was lifted. And that you're still playing DbD! The offer to team up still stands if you ever find a way to play with a PS user!

Red hair on just about anyone is my weakness ( I just posted about Nurse being the 'hottest' Killer in a thread recently because of her red haired opera outfit, actually) so I totally understood your frustration about Meg's cosmetics. Thankfully they did her justice and left her hair color alone. The fortune teller outfit, huh? Well it's as bright as ever! I have always wished they'd tone that one down myself and make it a more natural red because it's one of the only longer hair options in the game. But I can see the cherry/fire red appeal and why people like it.

Ugh, I don't even want to talk about how much money I've spent on Kate. I keep hoping that they are going to rework their rework due to the demand for it but I know that's wishful thinking and that Kate just is the way she is now. Which makes me feel like I've wasted all of that money. What's unfortunate is that I still love Kate's backstory/personality the best so... It is what it is! If you ever get the option to buy Flower in the Dark I highly recommend that outfit as the head and torso (a thick ponytail and a red sweater with a backpack) really work with a lot of her cosmetics. I think Rift content usually comes to the store 6ish months after being in the Rift so it should be up for grabs any day now.

I'm working on Felix right now too, he's P3 and I'm trying to get a handful of my favorite perks on him. I'll probably alternate between Felix and Nea (Nea the most since she has some edgelord emo fashion that speaks to my long-lost, past high school self ๐Ÿ˜…) and will keep my fingers crossed that one of the new Survivors really speaks to me to become my true main. Or that Kate returns to a closer image of her original self.

I love the idea of splitting the map. Just give it Badham treatment and make various variants of the map (RPD I, RPD II etc.)

That said, I've recently played against Oni that seemed to perfectly know the layout of the map and navigated it without a problem. Like, starting dash when we're on opposite corners of the map and reaching me without stopping. I would've loved to learn the same navigation skills one day, but it's pointless if the game just decides to freeze randomly for a few seconds so I can't even loop or run away from Killers on this map.

I know what you mean. I can understand how catching up with someone and swapping stories and opinions could be seen as derailing a thread but at the same time I'm not currently aware of any way to have more direct discussions here. Maybe the mods could point us in a direction? Don't know.

Oh, nothing's going to make me stop playing DBD. When I first got the ban (which I won't go into too much detail as I know this is discouraged) I was a little upset because I felt that my intentions hadn't been taken into consideration - in short, I used the "F" slur but in a way that was actually quoting a comedy sketch by Scott Thompson, a gay performer that I find very funny. The sketch was about examining the word one letter at a time and finally concluding that one specific letter is responsible for making the word offensive, so by dropping that letter all gay people could now joyfully celebrate having apparently defeated the slur. I found it ridiculous to the point of being hilarious. In explaining this, I quoted the specific word which now had one less letter, and by doing so it appeared that I was trying to use the full slur AND evade the censor filter. That wasn't my intention but it looked as if it might have been, and as the mod politely explained to me that context didn't make a difference, I still used 95 percent of a slur that shouldn't ever be used here. I got that, and I consider it a lesson learned. Scott Thompson is a legitimately very funny guy, and his work on the show in question (The Kids in the Hall) is among the best, and I was trying to impart that - but didn't go about doing it in the correct manner.

Anyway while my initial reaction was one of "wow, they really don't seem to like me over there", I eventually understood their position and accepted the punishment without taking it personally. Since I was still playing and loving the game, and since I'd lost out on the chance to talk about so much (the entire 5th anniversary!) I knew that I wanted to come back and catch up with some of my friends here. There's always a lot to talk about, though I do generally try to avoid the "killer / survivor bad" stuff because it's dull and repetitive to me. There's so much more to talk about.

Like the Fortune Teller outfit! I have to admit, as a straight male, I find Meg's midriff to be absolutely perfect, and she's got the greatest dimples of Venus ever, and both are prominently on display in that outfit. But it's not just that, the pieces work so well with so many other variants. And while I do understand that her longer hair would be nice as a more neutral red, the sheer cherry richness of it makes it one of my most used of her hairstyles. I mean she's got it all - braids, ponytails, caps, deep red hair, copper orange hair, cornrows, she rocks it all! Flower in the Dark? If I recall correctly that's actually the exact outfit I was referring to when I said that there's one I'm really waiting for for Kate. I saw a picture and fell in love immediately, she's adorable in that outfit and it does look like it's got great mix and match possibilities. I keep watching to see it show up. I must have just missed it before getting the game.

Nea's cool, she's got a good theme and character. And I really do hope that maybe something can eventually be done to make you love Kate again. Felix is handsome as hell and I like a few of his perks. During the 5th anniversary I brought almost all my survivors and killers to at least level 20 so none of them need a WHOLE lot of work to start getting some of my preferred perks. He's down my list a bit but I'll be working on him soon. There are only a few characters I really don't care much to build up anytime soon. I'm also stuck being unable to prestige because I still have cakes.

Hey, speaking of which, I'd forgotten that you suggested we team up. Sure, anytime! Look for miketheratguy, same as I am here. That's what I'm known as everywhere. You may find my very old 360 profile, you can obviously ignore that. I'm playing this on the PC.

I absolutely loathe RPD. I generally just accept that I will not escape on this map - I have escaped ONCE since it's release. I generally try to do gens etc - but if/when I am caught/hooked unless someone is real close by - I just attempt to escape/4% then give up when struggle hits. I would rather the other survivors just stay on gens for 30 seconds than try to waste time trying to get to me.

I think the map looks amazing, but I also don't think it should have ever been released as is for DBD. I do know that my friends who are Ghostface, Nurse, Myers, and Wraith mains LOVE this map. This map has the highest rate of DCs in my tracking for the past 30 days regardless whether I am killer or survivor... and I can guarantee BHVR knows this to be true with their own data.

I'm not really sure of a way to directly communicate with someone on this forum other than by doing so in a discussion like this or by posting on each other's wall and then just replying to that same comment and making a thread that way. Let me know if you'd like to do that as it's the only way I can think of to not hijack someone's topic!

I can see what you mean about seeing both sides to your original issue. The intent to upset anyone wasn't there and it sounds like you were discussing something comical and perhaps even interesting (in the way that any ridiculous joke-theory is) but that the mere presence of the offensive word was the problem. And that it seemed like you were trying to circumvent the chat filter which I know is something that the mods look for around here. Either way it sounds like a case of no harm, no foul, and the fact that the ban was temporary seems to me like they were understanding of the situation but had to act within the set rules of moderation.

I'm sure a lot of us are glad to have you back! ๐Ÿ˜Š

That's so funny that the outfit I suggested was the one you like. It really is one of the best outfits in the entire game because of how normal and adorable it is. A loose and low ponytail, a red sweater with a little locket necklace, a backpack, the entire upper portion of the outfit is so nicely colored and designed. It really does just scream 'college girl' / 'girl-next-door'. I'm not a huge fan of the legs namely because of the shoe choice with it but I'm such a nit picker when it comes to this kind of thing. The smallest details make or break outfits for me to a point of it being kind of obnoxious and I recognize that. Haha.

I really wish that the devs would add a preview option where you can pair unpurchased pieces together to see a whole outfit because I think that Meg has some fantastic choices that I'd love to see together. But I've not wanted to buy them just to possibly hate the outfit combo. What is your default or go-to outfit combination for her?

Having all of the Survivors to 20 is a good accomplishment! You're halfway there! The last 10 levels always feels like such a grind when it's for a character who you don't love and just want to get the teachables for. I have all of the Survivors to rank 40 except for Tapp and Ash (who I won't buy and whose perks I don't want) and Jane (whose single perk I wanted I got from the 4 perk market, I'm forgetting what they call it). Everyone else is up there. Kate is P3 and has every perk T3'd and I'm working on getting Nea to that point. She's P3 and about 3/4 done with perks. Then it's Felix's turn - he's P3 and just waiting to be cranked up to level 50 and perked out. I too wish that Kate could catch my favor again but I just don't see it happening without another rework which isn't going to happen.

Until then my fingers are crossed for a new Survivor to catch my interest. As for playing together, yeah! If I remember right I did search for you before and the only thing I found was your old Playstation account. I think we were having trouble figuring out how to add someone cross-platform if memory serves me correctly. I'm on Playstation until they one day add the ability to shift your account to another platform.

There's really not much wrong with RPD once you learn the layouts, the map being too dark on medium and lower graphic settings is a problem but outside of that I got no problems with the map. I gotta put up with people playing Haddonfield offerings all the time but god forbid I want to go to RPD and suddenly I'm the bad guy and it's fair game that everyone should be able to suicide/disconnect on the map. Maybe I should do the same thing whenever somebody starts playing haddonfield.

Rather have this map then any of the corn ones. It's so different and after learning the layout it's become a lot more manageable when I play either side.
