What's the point of prestiging killers?
As far as I'm aware it makes you start from scratch by losing all your perks and addons, and its benefits are a lousy "increased chance" of better nodes in the bloodweb and a bloody cosmetic. Is that worth losing millions of bloodpoints? The thing I'm doing is just keeping my killers at base level 50.

You’ll get more of the best add ons appearing in your Bloodweb. Use up all your good add-ons before you prestige to the next level.

I do it because I believe one day they'll give a a good reason to prestige characters & by that point I'll already have most if it completed.

My main killer has no cosmetics I like and my ex main killer has no cosmetics full stop. Prestige at least gives me something that looks cool on both of them

Bloody cosmetics and a small chance at better drops. According to the DBD wiki at Prestige 3 it gives a 30% bonus chance to green rare
20% to purple very rare and a 10% chance bonus to red ultra rare. Honestly I didn't notice that much of a difference though.

I don't think they ever will. The devs have already said Prestige is only in the game to give the hard-core players something to work towards, it isn't meant to actually be used to gain a big benefit.

So the opposing side can try harder against you. If you're a masochist it's perfect if you're not then skip it. No really wearing default skins is such a better gaming experience.

I do it because it's something to work for and I like the little prestige icon on their portrait

I only do it for characters I like their P3 cosmetics

There is none...and don't believe the addon thing...thats a lie.

I personally see no purpose in neither prestiging killer nor buying cosmetics for them.
The only cosmetics i have for them is free unlockable stuff and I don't even use that.
Outside of the permanent view of the weapon and during mori and endgame screen there is no value in owning a cosmetic.
Or you like to be "pretty" for the survivor or whatever.

Tell that to demo/twins/trapper who all rely on brown/yellow add ons

good point !! no need to copy other games ideas ;(

You guessed it right: You have an EXTREMELY small increase in chance for better stuff on your Bloodweb, and you get a bloody piece.
You also get an achievement/trophy for each tier of Prestige the first time you do it.
Whether those are worth prestiging for or not is entirely up to the player.
I fully Prestiged a character during the last anniversary.

I only P3 survivors i like for the bloody cosmetics. I have 18 survivors P3 all perks.
No point to buy cosmetics or prestige killers in my opinion.
I can't see my killers the whole game, only the weapon.

Must admit, I don't prestige any characters anymore. I only did my initial ones back in 2016 for Legacy...and for the achievement.
I've never really prestiged killers, only my survivors.
For me, there's so many great cosmetics in the game now that I want to use them and not the prestige ones, and with so many perks in the game I don't want to have to get them on my characters again.

I prestiged my characters now to reduce the cost of prestiging them later. I have friends with hundreds of cakes, streamers, gateaus, addons, items, etc that they feel is too much to give up to prestige.
My characters that are already prestiged are where I dump bloodpoints.
But yeah, from an objective truth kind of standpoint, it’s just in the name. It’s prestigious.

Blood Pyramid Head as well. Change that white apron to red? Heck yeah.

Something to do after unlocking every single perk, I guess. I personally do it to feel accomplished, I'm currently prestiging Plague (P2 37 rn)

I've thought about Prestiging killers before, but I always decided against it. The Bloodweb can be a cruel ######### if you have a lot of teachables. The only killer I might consider it on is Freddy, because of his complete lack of cosmetics. All of the other killers I have some form of customization on that I like. I'm also playing a lot of Neme right now, and I have a feeling he'll be getting some cosmetics in the future.

Five years worth of perks in, there is no practical reason to prestige. It only serves to give people with a lot of time something to work towards.

Some killer cosmetics are useful because they provide darker color and make you harder to see.

I actually haven't done the third one on him yet because I can't imagine his ALREADY red head changing much.
I DO, however, reccomend the bloodied body and hands for Demo. Especially since BOTH hands change, and they're BOTH constantly on-screen to appreciate.

Or you can go for the ultimate mindgame of default skin and frosty eyes. Survivors waste time cleansing dull totems to prevent your nonexistent NOED. :D

If you are at the base level 50 with all perks then no there's no point
But if you are at the base level 50 and don't have all of the perks then maybe
Or if you don't use a certain character then maybe (like I have Plenty of killers that have hit the base level 50 but I don't use them that much so I have been debating on prestiging them for (Bad Word) and giggles... And survivor that are level 40's (except for Felix)... And The Trickster is at level 22 so I do have work to do (lol)

Still I as the killer feel like i don't get much from it, like in rainbow six siege. As first person game there isn't much to skins except showing off.
Unlike for example league of legends where is see myself.
But i have to admit hypocrisy since I own skins in overwatch and siege ;P
But in siege only legendaries that also give me a MVP end screen animation plus they change my usable equipment visually. And overwatch mostly through free chests. So either it's was free or it gives me more than a simple skin i myself can't see most of the time.

Don't even bother prestiging. It just makes the perk grind even more insane.

The odd for better addon and item are up by 1 or 2%. This come from mclean himself he said that 2 or 3 years ago

It increases the probability of rare items, but if you take into account how much extra BP you need to throw in to do the prestige, it turns out probably that this increased percentage starts paying off a bit only after hundreds of games after you reached P3.

DBD is one big grind, I think if you want to be a completionist it’s worth doing, I just am slowly aiming at getting those P3s done on everyone and getting the tomes all finished too. The cosmetics that you can buy and/or get from the rift blow away the P3 ones though, and only Freddy and Nemesis at the moment do not have any cosmetics I believe. But all subject to change.
TLDR only go for it if you’re a completionist looking to do a huge grind.. but that’s what the game is all about IMO so it’s worth it

I can't justify prestiging any character, Killer or survivor. After 5 years there are far too many perks, and since DBD is still hung up on perks having tiers, means that it will take millions upon millions of blood points to get all those perks back. Not to mention the art department has really outdone themselves by creating some truly fantastic skins, so the need to wear some bloody clothes doesn't really do much for me.

I feel like there's actually TOO much blood. HIs weapon gets all these weird veins all over it instead of just blood, and his apron goes from clean white to completely blood drenched. It'd look way better if it were closer to the Silent Hill game model, where the blood stains are thickest at the bottom and less noticable the higher up you go. Feels like they went way overboard and the effect made it less impressive than it could've been.

It's not noticeable unless you paid attention to it. I made a spreadsheet and kept track of all the nodes and rarities in P0-P3 bloodwebs a few years ago and it was enough for me to P3 the characters I had already capped out on T3 perks at P0. The bloodweb is different now so I don't know if prestiging affects it as much, but regardless, there's so many new characters now I don't think it's worth it in 2021 unless BHVR decides to lessen the grind some.

I mean, a fair point. Prestiged PH DEFINITELY looks like he is attempting his best Carrie cosplay. However! I appreciate the fact that we can earn a drastically different color to choose between. But then again, it would be just as unique if the prestige apron was still white with visible blood patterns on it like you mention. Similar to Michael's or GhostFace's prestige mask.

Skins, that's literally it. You get a 1% higher chance at rarer things in a game where rarer things often aren't even better
0 -
If you really want bloody cosmetics then ok but i dont know if its worth

I am probably just going to do it for the easy achievement. But only on one killer. The rest already have most perks and THAT took way too much for my personal comfort.
I suck at Pyramid Head, though. So resetting him should be fine. And then when he is done, hopefully I will have gotten better enough at killer to enjoy him a bit more.
