The Halloween Event

Is going to be another disappointment. I hope I'm wrong and the devs have gone all out, but I have a feeling it's going to be the same old thing with a new cosmetic.

Please devs, prove me wrong. Give us a weeked of no red stain for killers, old school fog offerings, and one use per match base kit DS for survivors that can stack with the main DS.

Yes, this may be too much and unlikely, but come on, spice things up somehow, even if only for a day.

I can't wait for another Halloween event where we get 5 million killer outfits and 1 survivor one, that'll be fun.

I will hand in my DBD license if Blighted Trickster is not added in the Halloween event. It's practically a given - BHVR really seem to love Trickster and want him to sell a lot, if his constant skins, constant buffs and preferential Rift treatment is anything to go by.

It'll probably be a set, too, because Trickster hasn't gotten a set yet.

Blighted Nemesis would be amazing, but it won’t happen unfortunately.

TBH I’m getting tired of the whole “Blighted” aesthetic. It would be nice if they changed it up a bit.

Wasn’t the past Halloween event just new outfits in the shop and like 2 canker flower challenges in the rift?

If only we got something like limited time game modes instead. Heck I’ll take ANY new game mode at this point. We need something fresh!

    Next event: 'Ephemeral Blight'

Get it? Because this game'll probably be dead very soon?

    Yeah.

It would be nice to get a Halloween event centered around the actual Halloween characters in the game; Michael and Laurie. I wonder if they've ever actually tried to organize something like that with the Halloween movie people.

My very first event was Halloween from last year.

I don't even remember it. Some disgusting flowers to interact with... Well, I wish I lived one of these events people speak about with nostalgia.

The blight ended last year, we are no longer getting blight events (assumedly) so no more blighted skins. Hopefully we get a new spin on the yearly halloween events thats as good (or better) than the blighted events. Anything but the anniversary honestly

It's going to be good to at least get more experience though I'll have to juggle my time between DBD and another game that has a Halloween event.

Is the Halloween event just like Anniversary where we get cakes in the bloodweb for more bloodpoints? I have never done one before, so I have no idea what to expect.

  • Huge_Bush
    Huge_Bush Member Posts: 5,424

Yea. Last year, they promised that they will no longer have events for holidays except for the Anniversary and Halloween, in order to focus their resources on the two and make them better than ever. That promise fell through, as you can see, with the Anniversary. They really didn’t do much other than reskinned cosmetics and blood points. No new temporary game mechanics or anything to spice up the game. They were hoping that the Resident Evil content would be enough for us.

They could go for a pure Halloween aesthetic instead of the whole Blighted thing, just like the 2017 Halloween event...

But who am I kidding. It will be another disappointment, just like everything that has recently happened.

I think we should use "blighted" as a swear.

Last year, I got so excited for Halloween, and then I was so disappointed. I don't want to get my heart broken again.

But balloons and confetti on hooks, generators, tool boxes, and med kits!... /s

Halloween should be their biggest event of the year for obvious reasons but I'll admit I'm a little cynical too when it comes to events in this game. The past few have been such a letdown or an outright disaster (looking at you, gnome chompski). It would be fantastic to get a new array of cosmetics for both sides and to see some unusual gameplay elements for both sides.

A new map would be fantastic. Double bloodpoints is a must. And I'll admit I do love the reskins of items but that shouldn't be the most exciting thing about the event.

It's honestly shocking how little they do when this is a horror game. I guess they have no reason to do anything. We all keep playing, don't we?

I may be misremembering, but I'm 95% sure they advertised The Eternal Blight as the "last chapter in the Hallowed Blight saga", or something along the lines of that.

It makes sense, considering they were about.. Well, Blight. And he's out now.

You guys are expecting too much from BHVR for the events.

I get your disappointments, and they are valid given what the events were like before.

But I also remember how painful those events could be.

I forgot the exact name exactly, but it was a Blight Event where you had to collect Pustula Petals and escape as a Survivor to get Syringes to unlock cosmetics with.

Same thing with the Red Moon event for the Lunar New Year. Both of these I had a lot of fun doing, but I also remembered specifically hating playing the game during this period for those cosmetics.

Personally, I don't care if the events stay the same. And it's just a couple of community "events" and bonus BP. Maybe I just have a different perspective on this, but I don't want to celebrate the game by constantly hating playing it just to get a specific cosmetic I wanted that looked cool.

I still have that Huntress Outfit to this day and I wear it constantly mixed in with other cosmetics I've accumulated throughout my time playing this game. But the attempts, the trials and tribulations, the painful painful games I had to go through to get that cosmetic is one I won't forget as it genuinely got on my nerves to play this game for more than a couple of matches.

By the Entity, our experiences were complete opposites, then. The Moonrise event was awesome for me, certainly much better than this poor excuse of events that we now have.

  • DelsKibara
    DelsKibara Member Posts: 3,127

I certainly would not like to play the Moonrise event again if I can help it.

Mainly because it never felt good to play.

To get lanterns as Killer, you need to specifically tunnel people who have it and glow.

And that makes playing as Survivor even more tedious and frustrating as by virtue of the fact that you glow, you're going to be targetted by the Killer who wants the lantern too.

  • GeneralV
    GeneralV Member Posts: 11,701

Truth be told, it never bothered me.

I think it depends on how you approach events, and the game itself.

  • DelsKibara
    DelsKibara Member Posts: 3,127

I like to play to win for the most part. And that does include getting those lanterns.

But bare with me for a second.

There was nothing more frustrating than seeing a Killer destroy a lantern you've been holding onto the entire game and escaping without it. I would've played Killer for those events but Killers got jackshit for points to get the tokens.

It's the same thing with the Pustula Blight event too.

No one was playing the game, they were all sucking the flower dry. It was basically an "Early Game Collapse" or a buffed Corrupt Intervention. It was also because those pustulas are always in short supply. Someone is going to get the short end of the stick, and I'd rather it not be me because I wanna go back and playing as I normally do again.

But for Killer it was easy, just do your objective. Hook Survivors.

Which is why if they do events like these, please PLEASE let it be part of the objectives instead of... Well this.

It could use a few adjustments, on that we agree, but I still think they are better than ######### Eternal Blight, whatever the hell that ######### was, as it can hardly be called an event.

  • DelsKibara
    DelsKibara Member Posts: 3,127

    I don't really mind that.

I can basically play the game normally, and get free ######### in the background.

The only stress that ever comes from these events are often my teammates being too braindead to do anything.

  • GeneralV
    GeneralV Member Posts: 11,701

I absolutely despise that event and everything related to it. I hate it almost as much as I hate Freddy's rework and The Realm Beyond, and that is no easy feat.

  • DelsKibara
    DelsKibara Member Posts: 3,127

I guess we just have two different things we want from events.

I like events that aren't intrusive to gameplay, that don't force either side to act like a dick to get event points.

It's not fun getting tunneled out for no reason other than the fact that you got a Lantern.

I do however have fun when it's more of a celebration of the event and we all just get to have fun as we normally do, but with decorations and an extra objective that isn't parasytic to gameplay (Like the anniversary events). I do adore these way more than those other events.

Because getting crowns is an extra side objective that you can go for that doesn't screw you over in your games. Once you get it, you got it. Well you need to escape as Survivor but you get what I mean. No one can really take it away from you when you get it.

After how disappointing the anniversary event was I'm not getting my hopes up that the Halloween event will be much better but maybe I'll be wrong.
