in an attempt to not derail the optimisation thread any more
Okay so basically, I made the name "GoodBoyKaru" with full intents of people shortening it down to "Karu" (this was my name change; originally it was Doddle28 but I updated it to match with my socials).
But, something happened which I'm not entirely comfortable sharing, which lead to me basically hating people who I'm not friends with calling me "Karu". Aquaintances it's iffy with, strangers I politely ask them not to, and people I dislike (or who call me it just to piss me off) makes me genuinely really uncomfortable. So as a compromise, "GBK" was a sort of nickname that I began asking people to call me, because it's quicker than the full thing of "GoodBoyKaru" + I'm perfectly fine with it.
A lot of people either don't know, or don't care, and it's less than pleasant. So to see someone respect it, even someone who I got off on less than great terms with, is really nice, and I genuinely really appreciate it.

I probably would’ve used Karu at some point if you didn’t say anything. I’ll try to remember saying GBK.
People can disagree, but I still think that reasonable discussions can be had. I think it’s generally difficult for people to swallow their pride, especially behind the cover of anonymity. Idk why you called me Susan but I’m glad you didn’t completely blow up with my response lol.

Oh! The Susan thing is something I do when I'm attempting to be even more passive aggressive than usual, whilst also not attempting to be hostile- like in a "I don't like this conversation but I don't hate you" sort of way if that makes sense? Basically I just call someone a random old person name- be it Michael, Susan, Johnathon, Kirsty, etc- though you're the first person to respond in turn so props there.
It's not exclusive to the forums, I do it everywhere I have interactions, except including irl because I started it after March 2020 and existing within 2m of people since then is strictly prohibited lol. Sometimes it's meant in more of a hostile way, but that usually comes along with lots of swearing.
