Question: how do u open the box while chains are active?
I didnt play the PTB and I just started playing this against him this weekend.
So, if the chains are active and u NEED to open the box to make them disappear, u basically cant open the box because chains will just stop u from it? or can u run and solve the box while avoiding them?

If you go for the box and try to solve it, you wont get attacked by the chains if you do it immediately; however, if you move from where the box spawns or go anywhere, A. The Cenobite can see you B. You'll get attacked by chains.
Your best option is to solve the box and hope Ceno doesn't teleport to you

Somewhat true. If the box is not being worked on, Pinhead cannot pinpoint your location.

The chain hunt chains come in volleys. So dodge a set of chains, then solve.

The chains spawn faster than what it takes to solve the box tho :(

If you can position yourself in a more close space the chains will spawn and hit obstacles most of the time. Your best option to do this is if you find the cube before the hunt has started and can get to such a location before the cog around your portrait is filled out and the chain hunt start on you.
Such locations also mean it's likely the Cenobite spawn on the other side of obstacles or the like and you can get a head start on the following chase, rather than solving it in the open where the Cenobite can instantly go for you.
Solving the cube in the killer's shack while the basement is there has put me, as the killer, in the basement rather than on ground level, giving the survivor all the time in the world to leave.

As soon as you start working on it the chains stop, just dodge 1 to 3 chains and it should be good

Dodge then solve. The chains don't spawn while you are solving. If a chain portal opened just as you started solving that chain will still try to strike you. I often find myself putting a tree or another object between me and the last portal when I start to solve the box.
It's funny too when you solve the box and Pinhead appears nearby, just for them to get confused and leave because your skinnier than a tree.
