What is gen tapping?

  1. Not holding m1 and just constantly tap on gen to repair it slower, but without any gen repair noises (I don't really care about this one, but it is silly too)
  2. Ability to literally tap the gen and make it stop regressing instantly, often during chase or on the way for hook save with no time loss.

So killer needs to spend time kicking the gen, but survivor can just undo it without even having to go through animation. It is simply silly and not fair design, not to mention that killer's time is 4 times more 'valuable'.

And do not bs, I do it, you do it, every survivor does it. There is Dragon's Grip to kind of discourage this... but this perk sucks due to it lasting for so short (the time it stays active on gen, not the exposed time - which is actually ok ok!) and having massive cooldown.

Kicking a generator should make it loose 5% of progress every time + the normal slow regression to discourage midchase tapping (With PGTW getting nerfed from 25% to 20% to keep it as it is now)

    Not sure why the devs haven’t addressed this yet. There needs to be better incentives for killers to kick gens.

    @TheGannMan Because survivor mains cry louder than people who play both sides. I'm not even joking, remember the patch when flashlight didn't need timing and ALWAYS resulted in save?

    When I first started playing the game I always thought that kicking the gen automatically instantly lost some of it's progress which I don't see why it doesn't. I hardly kick gens in unless I'm ahead of the game and feel confident that no one's around to tap it, and have some spare time to do so.

    Regarding tapping gens I don't have a problem with it. In fact whenever I'm lagging badly while playing survivor I'll tap gens so I don't get a skill check and miss it due to lag but I'm contributing somewhat to it's progress.

    @Tricksters_Wife I actually have seen a clip of survivor being stealthy around a gen which was just kicked by the killer who was sticking around and the survivor was tapping the gen to not make repair noise. NGL this was pretty cool and I don't have problem with it, but mid-chase tapping is stupid.

    And it is super illogical that gens take 0 damage on initial kick :P. Well... back in the day gens couldn't be regressed or kicked so let's be glad we have what we have now, but it could be better and more fair/logical.

    Number three looks familiar 😏 But I definitely agree, I suggested this about a week or so ago and I think it would be very healthy for the game. That and adding a reasonable cooldown to Tinkerer so it's not too oppressive on certain Killers.

    Even weak killers could come back from games with this kind of change. I really dont know why this isnt in the game.

    I do think its dumb a survivor can undo a 3 second killer action with a 0.3 second action (aka a single tap) i feel like to stop regression done by kicks a survivor should have to work on it for at least a few seconds. Its dumb that this isn't already the case.

    This. And or the more kicks a gen receives the more it regresses.

    It should simply take a survivor as long to "revv up" a kicked gen as it takes a killer to kick it at base, perhaps a little bit longer. It just feels right, is a rather minimalist change and it's just how it should be if you ask me. So this option is pretty much what I want.

    No gigantic balance implications or anything, it just feels right 😄
