Why they say Nea is the "Entity"
Tell me the joke please.
Comments

Nea is ugly and gross looking and the Entity is a spider demon god thing. That's the joke
11 -
I guess because when Nea first got into the game everyone thought she was ugly, so the "Nea is the Entity" joke became a thing.
14 -
Because she might be the most evil survivor and at times, her model... did not look right.
2 -
She is not The Entity. She is a normal human girl who, like other normal human girls, likes to walk on cats. That's how you know she's a human girl and definitely not The Entity.
27 -
"Hey, guys..."
11 -
It's an old joke because she used to be ugly looking.
It was funny at first but became incredibly annoying and unfunny after awhile.
8 -
Likes to walk "on" cats sorry man nothing normal about that.
2 -
I think there was actually a bug in the game where she got to use killer perks or something like that? Don’t really remember what I read and if that was even true.
that and because her model looked so inhumanly ugly
0 -
It was a reference to Saminations parody.
10 -
because of stuff like this
Nea for some reason had stuff like that happening to her. which lead to the "Nea is a killer" joke.
then, saminations came along and pushed the joke further by saying she was the entity itself.
everyone saying it was because she is ugly. chill tf out
14 -
Huh. I always wondered what this meant too.
I don't even think that Nea is ugly, her default appearance just looks like a homeless meth addict.
3 -
Nea looks pretty hot with the blue hair skin tbh
0 -
POV: You just loaded into a lobby with a default Nea.
1 -
But her being ugly (or better: used to have an ugly model) was kinda part why samination pushed it.
he starte with Quentin being mistaken as a killer and followed with Nea (and later on Jeff)
of course it’s not the only reason but still..
1 -
The people saying the reason is because she is ugly are correct. I was around back when Nea released and that genuinely was the reason for the meme. It's so dumb and for some reason has stuck around since then.
0 -
Because she kills her teammates indirectly without remorse. If you suspect she has pebble... run!
2 -
I always thought it was because Neas were “evil”. Typically the ones to bully the killer, sandbag teammates, farm hooks, and engage in all variety of other shenanigans that often result in the Entity getting a bite or two.
But that was just me trying to figure out the Nea-Entity joke on my own. The ugly Nea thing makes sense too!
4 -
its a joke because of her face was ugly before they fixed it
0 -
Nah she ugly.
0 -
I never knew it was a misogynist meme. I just assumed it was because Neas are so aggressive. Sucks to learn the truth.
3 -
It is tho, it was said even before what you talked about,
ugly/scary face- Entity
0 -
Why misogynist though?
the face model was poorly done and didn’t look human at all. The same people made also fun about Quentins face after all.
5 -
Deciding a woman is evil because you don't think she's attractive is pretty much textbook misogyny. :(
3 -
If she was a he would that be misandry?
1 -
Ugly in the sense of poorly modeled (especially compared to the other survivors) not ugly in the sense of unattractive.
0 -
"used to be"?
bruh
1 -
She's not a top model, but she isn't as bad looking as she used to.
0 -
No, because there isn't the same cultural history of judging men's worth based primarily on how they look and then devaluing them or ascribing negative traits to them if you think they look bad. The closest analogy for men would be the way media has taught us to expect that feminine/queer-presenting male characters are sinister or villainous -- but that's still based in misogyny and homophobia rather than misandry.
3 -
Oh you are that type of person. Nvm. I am not going to discuss this further or bother you anymore.
Have a nice day.
7 -
That's not comparable with what they're saying.
They're objecting to the idea that being 'ugly' makes a woman bad or worth less. They've said nothing about people going around yelling at women.
And despite Nea being a collection of pixels, I think it's a fair complaint. I mean, we see a lot of real people as pixels on a screen. Bad thoughts and habits start somewhere.
If you disagree you're free to say so, but I think we should leave it at that. Let people get back to the primary thread topic.
2 -
She used to be ugly but now shes pretty hot, so no more entity jokes
0 -
Lol best response ever. So true.
That is not a 1 gender issue. Society values unattractive people less. Pretty privilege is very real, That is the way the world works unfortunately.
5 -
Speak for yourself. Viewing things in terms of group relationships is meaningless and an excuse to generalize and project a narrative based interpretation onto reality; not to mention you are fundamentally incorrect on every level.
Beautiful people are always treated better, ugly people are always treated worse. It's just human nature to associate positivity with the things we consider beautiful and attractive, as it is to associate negativity with anything that elicits disgust or repulsion.
The Nea is the entity joke about a fictional character, is just that taken to an extreme for absurdist humor.
The idea that you don't think men get treated like garbage for being ugly is laughable. Everything else you're describing is just your political/ideological viewpoint, which has no place here.
4 -
I'm not wrong. I agree with you that people get treated better if they look attractive, no matter what their gender is. The difference is that, when that happens to women, it's part of an organized system of oppression that men do not experience.
1 -
Bruh, it was literally explained that this was an extension of a joke where Quentin's goblin face got him mistaken for a killer.
1 -
The identity politics bell is ringing. No one engage.
5 -
Ok best comment on the dbd forums currently.
3 -
Misogyny is saying nea is evil for being a woman. Or that kate needs to go bake some more survivor puddings because that's where she belongs.
A joke about someone being ugly isnt misogyny. Poor taste? Maybe. Worse if nea wasn't a collection of sprites in a ficticious video game.
2 -
"When it happens to guys it's nothing, but if the same thing happens to girls it's an organized system of oppression." lmao
Truly spoken like someone who has no clue what they're talking about. This is a forum for discussion about a video game. If we wanted to listen to you regurgitating buzzwords & political talking points onto every facet of your life, we would follow you on twitter.
We know what you are. Take your intersectional bs somewhere else. It has no place here.

Nea is hideous. That's the joke.

Homeless Meth Addicts = Ugly.

Hearing more and more people say/get behind what enormous has just said is giving me hope that the west will return to sanity. Bless you, my dude/gal.

Meth addicts don't tend to be attractive, but in Nea's case it's really just the general disheveled appearance. I don't think she's ugly, but I don't think she's pretty. She looks smelly. Like she hasn't bathed. Again, this is just her default look. The knit cap and grunge clothes don't suit her face in my opinion. Not that it matters to me, I still use her.
Homeless people can be attractive or not since it's something that can afflict anybody, but hard drugs tend to make you look plain, then messy, then ugly, then naked on a metal table with livor mortis.
0 -
Yeah I understand that someone who takes hard drugs can still have attractive features lol… but if you’re homeless AND take hard drugs it will be tough for someone to find you attractive. 😂
Either way, idc about Nea’s appearance - it’s just a video game. I’ve said it before: I find it weird when people get too deep into conversations about a video game character’s “sexual appeal”.

I do too. As stunningly beautiful as I find Kate and - I guess I'm in the minority - Meg, I couldn't care less what any of these characters look like in relation to the gameplay. I care more about the stories and the perks. If I'm going to spend hours looking at the backsides of these characters I'll be honest, some of them make that experience more pleasant (did you all know that this is what led to the creation of Lara Croft?) but variety is one of the things that makes this game so interesting. I actually think it would be intriguing to see a fat character in this game, for example. Or a person with a mental impairment that affects their appearance. Or a character specifically designed to look as average as possible, just "a face in the crowd". Though to be fair it IS in the company's best interest, financially speaking, to continue to release more traditionally "attractive" characters. We might find "Bob and Sarah, people with dead-end jobs who enjoy fast food" to be perfectly acceptable, but they probably wouldn't do much to drive DLC sales. :P
Homelessness can surprise you. I've met some very intelligent, very well-kept and "normal"-looking people who turned out to be homeless because their spouse had just abandoned them, or their job of 20 years laid them off, etc. Obviously if you're struggling financially and truly have no or at least very limited access to facilities like showers and such it's going to affect your appearance but I guess not everyone looks like they literally live on L.A.'s Skid Row (which I only recently learned I was within five minutes' walking distance of when I was stranded in the city in the middle of the night due to catching the wrong bus back in 2003. It's right by the hotel where a bunch of people committed suicide, were murdered, and where Elisa Lam was found dead in the water tank. Finding out after the fact that I was like 6 blocks away from there was kind of a scary revelation).

"The only people who object to gatekeeping are the ones the gate was meant to keep out."
If you care about a community, you are duty bound to excise those that would subvert it.
You have a right as a fan and member of a community to keep it as it is. Outsiders who want to corrupt and transform your community into something else by importing their worldviews, have no right to do so.
1 -
It's another thigh-slapping joke from the DBD community. Much like other past greats such as "Daddy Myers" and "Boop the Snoot".
So yeah, that's the punchline: Nea has got a face like a squashed potato thus making her a suitable candidate to be a demonic overlord.
Go on. Laugh.

Because when Nurse and Nea were just released, there was a bug that made a daily ritual appear saying "Kill 1 Survivor as Nea Karlsson".
0 -
That did become part of it plus she has some weird cosmetic that seem to relate to the entity directly.
