Why the new survivor might be female (And some Macbeth context). Long post.
There's a lot of debate over the new survivor's gender, but after past research (and a nerdy experience at school) I've come up with a few theories as to why the new survivor might be female.
The captions
I've already talked about this in another thread that @OneCagedHeart made, but to explain it again, the captions that Dead by Daylight included in the teaser trailers are shortened, their full quotes are: "By the prickling of my thumbs, something wicked this way comes." and "Double double toil and trouble, fire burn and couldron bubble". These quotes come from the historical Shakespearean play 'Macbeth'. In the play, there are three witches who say those quotes and how they were originated.
why is macbeth significant?
Well after finding some old research of mine back when I was in school, I think I've found a suitable answer as to why the new survivor might be female.
Firstly, Macbeth is set in the Jacobean period, which is the era that James VI reigned Scotland who was also crowned king in 1603 as James I.
James was constantly paranoid about the existence of witches, he believed them to be women who were servants of the devil and could talk to familars. Back then it was easy for a woman to be seen as a witch, especially because of the Jacobean society. He believed that witches would constantly cause chaos around the towns and set fire to herbs. Shakespeare illustrates these beliefs many times throughout Macbeth and even draws subtle references towards the society's views in some of the witches' lines.
How this ties to the trailer
Regardless of the captions, we don't actually see the survivor's appearance, nor do we find out their gender. However this might be a nod to the three witches because in Macbeth the gender of the witches are ambigious; it's not explicitly stated if they're men, women or even human. But because of popular belief and Jacobean stereotypes around that time, it's thought that the witches were women.
(the breathing sounds feminine to be fair)
conclusion
I'm probably just looking into it too much, but I felt that this was worthy of being written, simply because of the connections it has to Macbeth and all the possibilites.
Most of you might be thinking I'm crazy or wasting my time by writing this, but by being an old die-hard fan of Macbeth, I just felt strongly inclined to write this.
What do you guys think? Do you think my (essay let's call it) theory makes sense? Do you disagree? Let me know your thoughts.

I already thought they would be female because teaser images on Instagram.
one has a witch hat that I have never seen on a man and glasses next to it that also look like they are more suited for women.
that and witches being generally portrayed as female. (Though we all know that men were burnt just as well being accused of witchcraft in the Middle Ages)

Because of the quotes being from Macbeth and Macbeth being set in the Jacobean era, it's highly likely that it's a female survivor with witchcraft like abilities.
