Matchmaking is such BS!! Thought they made it more balanced? Clearly Not!
I am trying to level up my killer, I get 4ks quite a lot against my rank and gold but I am a Ash rank going up against loads of red ranks 1 and 2 like how is that fair? Plus all of them are toxic....

Grades aren't used for matchmaking.

What do you mean grades?
0 -
Like "Ash 1" or "Gold 3". Those are just grades and don't reflect your skill level. Just how much you play.
You were probably were put against them because as you said, Β "I get 4ks quite a lot"
4 -
you said that you get a lot of 4Ks so whatβs your problem?
3 -
Because the 4ks I usually get from people around my level or gold level, But the last match was 2 rank 1s, Rank 2 and gold rank... How is that fair? I notice as well they are always toxic and tebagging plus 4 stacks all the time...

Thereβs no βranksβ anymore. We only have βgradesβ now. Grades have nothing to do with matchmaking. If youβre good with your killer, youβll get better survivors. Also toxic survivors existing isnβt new..
2 -
Okay then thank you, So basically because I am good with the killer I am playing it will be higher ranks?
0 -
Not exactly, grades are reset back to zero monthly, your MMR is not.
0 -
No, your matchmaking-rating for your specific killer will be better. Itβs hidden, you canβt see it anywhere.
0 -
Okay so why all the red ranks?
0 -
The grades are there to reward players who play a lot. Every 13th you get blood points. Iridescent Grade (red color) = 250K for example.

Okay thank you for all your help jist don't think it's fair :(
1 -
Donβt let the toxicity get to you. try to have fun!
0 -
How isn't it fair to play people who are at the same skill level as you? It isn't fun for survivors to get curb stomped by a killer who is extremely good either
2 -
The grades donβt impact your MMR anymore.

Thank you @legacycolt π and @feffrey I am ash rank not red rank so they aren't exactly my level?

@TheGannMan Thank you π

Same for me. Always has and always will be!

@TheGannMan Awsome! What rank are you may I ask?
0 -
Currently in gold for survivor and silver for killer.

@TheGannMan Nice! Well done π

You keep saying RANK - they are not ranks - they are GRADES and have NOTHING to do with your matchmaking. Nobody has a rank any more.
All GRADES represent is time played since the 13th of the previous month. You are being matched against players who have shown a higher level of skill against whichever killer you are playing; whether they are Ash, Silver, Bronze, Gold, or Iri GRADE - their SBMM is similar to yours. For your own sanity just completely ignore the grades in the end screen.
3 -
They should honestly just hide ranks at this point, they dont have problem hiding MMR which is something we want to see, but not hiding rank that doesnt matter anymore is problematic somehow?
3 -
I don't know what to think of this new system to be honest, I prefer the old system.

They both had different pros and cons, luckily for me, I am adaptable. I could do well in either system.

I don't think i've played 15 matches with killer this year, i mostly play a few matches each week with a friend as survivor, but the matchmaking feels like bs when i've played my second match with doctor this year and i go against survivors with double my playtime and red grade since i'm ash
"OmG gRaDeS dOn'T mAtTeR!!" they do matter as a benchmark so you can see how often the people play based on the grades, the whole purpose of the grades is to show how much someone have played since the last reset right? So how is it fair that someone that haven't played killer in months goes against survivors that play enough matches to get to red grade?
2 -
Grades are not used for matchmaking. You have a hidden MMR Value that increases with each kill you get. If you're consistently getting 4ks, then you're going to be matched against survivors with similar MMR.
Their Grade is an indicator of how much they play, but not their skill level.

Bro i dont care if i dont get any kills i want to be put up against people my skill level i only ever play 4 trash people or 4 max level trolls there is never any inbetween

This thread is a prime example of one of BHVR's most rampant problems in my opinion:
Lacking information clarity.
It doesn't matter if it's the ranking system, difference between SWF and soloq, the false positives with hit validation, the proper post-game reporting process, the wording in a lot of their patch notes for balance changes, being unprepared for bloodhunts, dealing with hackers, and more.
The company is just failing so hard in delivering clear and concise information to its users on its processes lately, and arguably even to themselves after the internal NFT misunderstanding.
If @MandyTalk or mods read this, I like you guys, but a real complaint of mine for the company is in information clarity lately. That said, I do think revealing add-on values and win conditions was a great first step, but I think and hope this area of clarity keeps improving in the future.

If you need help with it, I can be quite caw-operative. I'm also quite the cunning linguist and even a master debater.
(I just really needed to stick those puns in somehow)
