Why the devs didn't announce mori nerf months before the actual nerf as the keys?
So the killers can use them all before the nerfing as the survivors using the keys.

Because the Mori nerf was just a number change of an offering.
The key change was still more complex and the mechanics/code behind it had more behind them with potential bugs etc.
also the Mori change was still announced months before actual change i think? It’s just that it was not tested in PTB but was then put into the game without a definite date announcement

Except the key change was just a number change as well. They literally just changed the spawning condition of hatch, just like they changed the activation condition of Moris. Sure, they added the new key animation, but I think everyone agrees that wasn't the most important part of the nerf, and I doubt they took a year to do a 2,5 second animation.

Ah yes. The important coding change of "hatch spawns at a different number of survivors." ...Wait thats a numbers change.

I'm sorry but why does it matter now? They are being nerfed now right?

They changed the hatch spawn condition, keys are not able to be used anymore when depleted, there is a new animation for opening the hatch.
i am not defending the devs for taking so damn long for this. But it was always obvious that the keys being an item will take a different change than Moris and That the change would come with a PTB test.
and they already said they don’t view Moris and keys as direct counterparts whatsoever.

They also had to change that one achievement which probably played a role in taking longer for the hatch/key nerf.

Yeah that was probably also tedious as they had to get in contact with Steam, Sony and Microsoft for that. Didn’t even think about that
