I don't get the hysteria for the NFT thing.
You can have your opinions about NFTs and think they're stupid (so do I) but why do you care so much with it relating to dbd? It has nothing to do with dbd at all and it's just the company partnering with another company to use assets...
There are other game companies that are making NFTs like Atari but nobody seems to care about that, it's only this community getting angry... again.
You can not play dbd for whatever reason you want it just makes no sense to me.

This is a DBD forum. Why would we be making threads on here about Atari or any other company?
We can't control how other fans of other companies do or don't react, we can only control what we do in regards to this game.

maybe because BHVR openly endorse and promote NFTs? And maybe because BHVR deceived the community? People don't want to play a game run by deceptive sellouts. They even lied to their own developers, hiding the fact they were making content for the purpose of an NFT. they're not a company to be trusted anymore

People are wary of the small connection already established, and even though I don't personally think it's a big deal, I can understand their frustration.

It's not just the forum. There are lots of game news sites making articles about it. There's just some angry aura that always follows dbd.
2 -
People don't want dbd their favorite games to be associated with something terrible like nft. They want better from the company

What's hard to understand? People are morally opposed to NFTs because of their environmental impact, and the Hellraiser license apparently came with the caveat that BHVR's assets would be used as NFTs. People don't want their money going towards that.
11 -
Did Atari also blatantly lie to their community about their involvement in NFTs?
7 -
Even aside from the environmental concern - we have some people laughably opposed to communal concerns here - BHVR still misled their playerbase.
1 -
So you just mostly cared that BHVR didn't announce it right away?

I don't know why everyone is getting so upset for🤨
Humans have been destroying this planet for years.
4 -
No. I care about both aspects, but there's reasons people who might otherwise butt heads on the forums are banding together over this - from pretty much any honest angle, BHVR did wrong.

I guess you should just stop playing video games then because the video game industry as a whole really hurts the environment. How could you hurt the environment by supporting these awful video games? Shame on you.
3 -
Blatantly lied?
Have you even read that Twitter post? They never said they are not involved or there will be no NFTs.
But at least maybe you learned not to come up with random assumptions... If they didn't write there will be no NFTs you can't come up with a conclusion that there will be no NFTs.

They didnt tell their own employee's that the work they were putting into the Hellraiser chapter was going to be put forth towards NFT's.
It's at the very least a Lie by Omission.

Even if the game isn't directly impacted -right now-, there are supposedly plans to integrate NFTs into the game more extensively. So either this gets uprooted here, or DBD runs the risk of becoming an NFT game.
You know, that on top of the NFT endorsement itself and the fact that BHVR misled the community.

I'm just waiting for the day after tomorrow😀

BHVR has spent the last year pissing off it's consumers. It's just been one thing after another causing frustrations in the community towards BHVR. They haven't really done anything to earn back goodwill so anger is just increasing with no release.
There's also the mix of people knowing BHVR aren't the small indie company they once were but people still see them as this small indie company and because of that have this feeling that BHVR should be on the side of the consumer instead of the side of the stock holders.
Then BHVR partners with license holder and random company to make an NFT - something that people already hate due to it not only being scammy but also not great for the environment. Had they included "how do you feel about NFTs" on one of their surveys they probably would've had an idea just how bad of an idea it would be, especially with the current state of their consumers.
BHVR with the already angry fan base chose to not give heads up BEFORE the Pinhead release that NFTs were involved in getting the licensed DLC so the consumers could've known if what they were putting money into was something that existed thanks to something they were against. When players found out and were unhappy BHVR then released a poorly worded statement that came across as they had no involvement with the NFT. Few days later BHVR then puts out new statement that they worked with the NFT company for months (meaning they could've told players before this so they could've chosen then to not buy the DLC they now cannot get a refund on) AND we find out that not even the devs/artists that worked on Pinhead knew about the NFTs - which must feel horrible for an artist to have your work go to something you're against.
BHVR over all just handled this terribly with timing and communication - which isn't a surprise with BHVR and that means they need to re-evaluate their PR/Business Management departments because those two are just making things worse and worse with how out of touch they are with their consumers.

So what if they didn't tell? What does it have to do with what was on Twitter and if they lied there?
I could also say now that you are lying, because you try to prove something with irrelevant facts.

Wait...
Atari is still a thing?

BHVR made it sound like they had no idea the end result would be an NFT. Even if they were contractually obligated to promote the NFT on social media, they are throwing their values and community trust out the window by doing that. BHVR needs to grow a spine and remove the Hellraiser chapter and sever their ties with Park Avenue. They can reconvene with Clive Barker in a couple of months.

It's an ethical dilemma.
If Behaviour's c-suite went down the street and shot a baby in the head, you'd probably be upset or at least vocalize some disgust for their actions. Whether that be due to your personal feelings on the situation, or to fit in with others, that would probably be your reaction if you were to be vocal about it.
NFTs are a bit more complicated in that their impact isn't as direct as shooting a baby in the head, but rather of the indirect damage they do through their promotion and use currently. While I might get criticism for comparing NFTs to shooting a baby in the head, environmental damage is a real threat that will harm and potentially kill others (people, animals, and ecosystems alike) in the long-run, and NFTs do currently play a role in encouraging this type of damage indirectly.
And unfortunately, in the pursuit of a popular license, DBD subjected to, and become complicit, in having its content and works to the promotion of activities that encourage this environmental harm with current technologies. Sure, it's not as directly harmful as shooting a baby in the head, but it's still an ethically questionable decision made by the top level management of our beloved development team.
Not to mention, company's putting short-term profit and benefits over long-term needs is typically a sore spot for most communities in general nowadays. This action showed that Behaviour isn't really that different in that regard, and it's kind of disappointing to people on top of that, especially when they wanted to support them.
---
That said, I personally don't approve of their actions either. Whether their role in the NFT was intentional or done out of ignorance, I really am disappointed in the company's leadership for allowing an association like this to exist.

I guess it comes down to what its for. I mean you could say just about any activity is bad for the world on the whole. NFT's just seem like a new level of waste though. You basically burn a huge carbon footprint so that people with more money than braincells can have a link to some virtual bling. Add in all the highly unregulated scamming, money laundering and general scummy elements of NFT's and virtual trading in general and you kind of have a really amoral system that burns a ######### tone of resources. All so that Joe Bling can have his personal link to a 70'000 dollar pixel emoji.
It boggles the mind that this is even a thing.

BHVR's first tweet essentially stated that "we worked with [company] and what they do with our assets is their business." That's fair.
Their 2nd tweet was "we're proud to have worked on NFT assets for [company] and urge you all to check out their NFT service!"
Total sell outs.

As long as humans rule this planet it's not safe. All you can do is sit back and wait for the end to come.
Unless the aliens land and save us.
