Why do people cleanse against Plague?
Just why do my teammates always feel the need to instantly cleanse with 5-3 gens left? There are literally only a few scenarios where you cleanse:
1.You are on dead hook
2.Only 1 gen left or all gens done
3.Everyone cleanses for no ######### reason 🤦🏻♂️
Tell me about your experiences :)

Well I just went up against a plague and had a similar experience. I think it's counter intuitive to leave yourself injured and vulnerable. Newer players aren't comfortable being injured, and so knowing that cleansing is going to solve all their current problems is probably why they do it. It takes some macro game sense to understand how pressure is different during each stage of the trial.

Its simple those survivor are bad or dont know how to play against plague

There's 2 tactics that work vs Plague.
- Nobody Cleanse ever. That way she only ever gets 1 use of Red Puke in the whole game.
- Mass Cleanse asap. Once the last pool is used, ALL pools become clean again and Plague gets her power which again... can result in only a single use of Red Puke... but it's more likely that more of your team is healthy when she gets it so it's less impactful. But it is riskier if Plague realizes you're doing that and starts grabbing Pools as often as possible.
Either strat can work but everybody needs to be on the same page.

I guess you are right 😭 so the only solution to my problem is like not playing solo Q anymore? So I‘m forced to play in swf lobbies nice :)

It depends on the level of the Plague. Plagues that dont go for her power right away dont really care about using it in some cases. Plague optimally should always have Thanatophobia which gives survivors the incenttive to cleanse more but people are cleansing to non-Thanatphobia (&Dying Light) Plague which to me is like saying "this Plague player sucks or i can survive this Plague, or this Plague doesnt have strong enough pressure that i should respect not cleansing"
When i play Plague I use BBQ/Dying Light/Sloppy Butcher/Thanatophobia. I have a high win % with her. Now shes even stronger.

i always cleanse since she got released, i don't like being perma injured because i don't run dead hard, and letting her have her power makes it more fun for the killer player so

Can you explain the thought process behind Sloppy Butcher on someone like Plague?

😂😂😂 then why do I get them as my teammates? I thought there is something called mmr…or does it mean that I‘m also bad 😭

Sometimes it's fine to cleanse early on - Just depends on nearby setups and gens. Having this mindset that you should never cleanse early on is how Plague takes survivors by surprise. Essentially survivors think they have her power figured out and get too cocky and then get slammed because injured.
Yeah you can say few scenarios where you cleanse but there's also few scenarios where you don't cleanse because ultimately Plague isn't a complex killer. Obviously you don't want to cleanse right by Plague. Best type of cleansing early on is when you cleanse on the opposite side of the map from her away from gens being done so if she decides to use it she has to waste time walking all the way over.
Just depends on how many high walls are nearby for the one who wants to distract Plague when they use Corrupt Purge.
Think of it though - Worst case scenario if you cleanse at the wrong time - As long as you're good at looping oh no she injures you have you cleanse and you're back to being injured but now you won't infect other survivors. It becomes an even trade if anything unless you end up going down but getting hit by the corrupt purge at least gives you time to get to t he next tile unless you goof up.

Yep you are right :) It needs coordination which doesn‘t happen often in Solo Q. Most of the times only in coordinated swf lobbies

Of course. Since these days people like to cleanse against Plagues and not respect her I make you Mangled with Hemmorage so now survivor heals take longer thus giving me more time to find them. Thanatophobia is the bait so that they are more inclined to cleanse (considering they dont want to deal with the regression that Thanatophobia brings)
Plagues power is strong, not super strong but strong. Im basically putting survivors in a constant catch 22 and honestly im considering taking out BBQ for Nurses. I play rushdown Plague always looking to use her power )
I actually dont care about her Vile Purge (the name of the spew) like that

Some people are better at stealth than looping so its on their benefit to cleanse.

I think you should worry about your own fun and not the killers but thats just me lol
1 -
I think that most of the time it‘s not even the disrespect towards the killer but like the survivors actually being stupid/dumb af…

Not cleansing against plague does not allow you to make risky plays at all though. If you cleanse, do it very sparingly. I would say it is a good idea to cleanse at a fountain that is near a finished generator, so that when the plague goes to get the fountain she loses a lot of pressure.
It also isn't a good idea to not cleanse because most plague players bring the apples. There just isn't really a point in not cleansing anymore since she has a fountain at base. And if she is good, she can make use of one fountain to down 2-3 survivors. Assuming everyone is fully infected and doesn't cleanse.

It‘s not beneficial for the team tho?

Same lol

If you cleanse you‘re a horrible teammate… Allowing a killer to use her broken power is just plain stupid? Making it more fun for the killer 😂 dude you are literally killing your team???Did you fall on your head?

Depends, if he goes down asap its more detrimental to the team than cleansing.

Some maps the pools are spread so far apart that the plague can't realistically get them to activate them without losing the game such as on the Swamp maps or Groaning Storehouse.
So on those maps there is very little reason not to cleanse...Let alone on Groaning Storehouse plague's power barely does anything due to being almost exclusively high wall loops.

Because not cleansing is BORING. I want to play against corrupt purge and try some fun jukes, not loop M1 killer perma injured even when it's more optimal.
2 -
I guess do what you want to do…I prefer to have fun and play optimal.

Because I'm an agent of chaos that can't live without being healthy.
It... breaks me

Larger maps you can get away with cleansing since you pick pools far away that the plague likely won't go out of her way to get. Then the last pools remaining can be popped to force her to get her power while everyone is healthy.

I do it to spice the game up, give her her power and its GAME ON LETS GO.

Not as bad as getting ######### by the killer
0 -
You just ruin high mmr experience…there is literally no excuse
0 -
I mean ever since they gave plague a vomit pool by default it seems like an irrelevant strategy
0 -
People still think not cleansing is the better strategy?

Not many good Plagues out there.
I would argue neither strat works against a high level Plague (all 10 of them, I know).
If nobody cleanses and the Plague brought two apple add-ons, your team is royally screwed. A top tier Plague is going to have everyone sick at 5 gens and broken at 4. That's a long way to go with one health state against a good killer.
Mass-cleansing isn't a thing if the Plague has any game sense. She can just pick up two or three fountains at a time and overwrite her power. A really experienced Plague will quickly identify what the team is doing and suddenly you're giving her free pools. I've burned quite a few teams who tried it.

2 is basically my experience in all plague games i've lost
1 doesn't work because i'll catch on and yank someone over to their high % gen and proxy them with my one corrupt and someone will crack
when you get cleansebombed successfully it's like a full reset with you starting as a dangerous mid-range killer but still having to hit people twice with their speedups, barring large open sectors this is pretty disastrous and tends to kill all your momentum and sometimes the numbers work out to where you have zero fountains as well as nobody infected and no capacity to infect anything because you're stuck in corrupt
which isn't as devastating vs full uninjured people, particularly with nobody hooked
i should probably note that for 1 i run thanatophobia/corrupt on plague and the first thing i do is infect every gen + anyone i come across, and they just massively buffed the infection timer for gens and plague being plagued can down someone in seconds so one slipup in trying to stealth out the corrupt and welp

People who don't cleanse in mass or at the end are what can kill you.
If you can't chase her broken, you can't chase her with the puke.

I had a teammate who cleansed in front of my generator. I was sick, the generator was green-smoky-sick... They joined me to be sicl again.
After the generator was done, they cleansed again and saved a sick teammate from the hook... to be sick again and go cleansing.
When I play Plague, I love these kind of Survivors. Please, cleanse more. But when I'm playing Survivor... I... I don't know.

pub life, it's even better when one comes alllll the way to the furthest gen on the map with a fountain nearby and infects your gen when you're on death hook

a high level Plague is even more of a unicorn than a high level Nurse. :-P. That might change after these buffs though. We'll see.
