Improve Territorial Imperative's Functionality

Currently, the perk icon only lights up when a Survivor enters the basement, along with a sound notification and aura reveal followed by the red cooldown wipe.

Maybe have the perk icon instead light up when at least 32m away from the basement entrance. Then, have only the sound play, and aura show, when a Survivor enters the basement. The red cooldown wipe can stay as is.

This would be a similar change to the one Make Your Choice recently had, and would allow the Killer to know if they are far enough away for Territorial Imperative to even proc.

    Yes please. Something.
It's a serious low point for Huntress.
Right now I just don't have any use for it. Even if you created some basement killer build, most survivors are in and out in seconds.

Plus, it would allow the Killer to identify which building has the basement in it sooner, which is fitting seeing as how (with this perk equipped) the Killer's imperative is to defend its territory.

Otherwise it would be like a territorial bear that doesn't know which of the two big rocks has its den inside; it can't properly defend it.

Honestly, this perk should have zero range restrictions on it, no cooldown and the aura revealed of any survivors in the basement for the entire time they are there. Even with all that it would still only ever be used on meme bubba builds. That's how under powered that perk currently is.

I agree with this. A few perks need QoL changes to UI to make them more user friendly, for killer and survivor. For example, I really wish BT icon would light up when you save someone and give them BT. I've made saves where I was sure I gave BT but then it turns out I didn't because it was a Wraith or Pig that cloaked/crouched at the right moment to remove their heartbeat.

I agree with this too. No cooldown and just always show the aura when outside the 32m range. Inside that range though it shouldn't show an aura only because it removes any chance of counter play on the survivors end.

It should show it even when you are within 32m, there shouldn't be any range restriction. You are literally wasting an entire perk hoping they decide to wander down into the basement. At BEST they go once for the chest there and that's it. This is such a ridiculously situational perk that given it actually happens it should be very strong.

The thing is that the aura reading kinda doesn't mean squat. It's the notification someone went in your basement that's the actual value in the perk. If you made it all ranges then you allow the killer to easy proxy camp the basement. Doesn't matter if someone sneaks past them, they will know you went down there. If there was a range where the aura/notification doesn't work that means you could sneak into the basement if necessary if you do it when the killer is nearby. Killer has to actually watch basement steps to see if someone goes down there.

It's obscenely rare that a killer looking for sacrifices won't stay near a basement hook. It's easy to guard and offers higher chances to net more hooks.
As it stands, with the limited range, they -have- to stay near and patrol at the most to even use it. It kinda encourages camping. Not face camping per say, but still.

Even with unlimited range, the proxy camp means diddly on larger maps because unhooking a survivor takes seconds, and they're all running out.
Unless you're Billy, Hag, Nurse, or Trapper you're probably not going to make it back in time to catch anyone. Maybe spirit.
Beyond that you need stupid good aim to intercept with hatchets or bottles.
If you're close enough to intercept, then you're pretty much patrolling, or are wicked fast.

@Rebel_Raven If you are going to stay that close to the basement then what good is TI really? You will likely see someone enter the basement and if you don't you will be close enough to at least react to the unhook and catch them running out of the basement. The whole point of TI is that you can walk away from the basement and still have eyes on it.

At the strongest, 32 meters doesn't seem like much, or it seems like too far to do anything about an intruder.
I mean you can't go out too far to hunt, and if you do go out to hunt, you have to worry about making it back in time to get an intruder. You kinda have to stay somewhat close to use TI.

TI isn't a very strong perk. It's basically niche to go with a basement hooker theme. Outside of that it has no practicality.

Well, maybe ambushing someone after the basement chest. if you're close enough.

if you add a noise notification when someone enters with in 10 meters of a hooked survivor ( any hook not just basement) then it might have some extra use for defending hooks outside of the basement

I wish it had no range restriction. If you are doing a basement killer build you don't want to run 40 meters away, just so you can get a quick warning that yes, as soon as you got out of TR of the basement, they ran into it.

No range restriction, and a longer aura reading. Maybe pulse the aura reading once every 10 seconds.

Maybe at rank 3. I think that would help. Though a notification but no aura if not in range would be better. The notification could come from above the killer shack so they could see the people in the basement. Just a thought
