New Player Help

Hello. I'm an older horror fan, and my son has finally decided to play this game with me. He is pretty upset at how hard it is. Can you give me some tips on how to help him manage? The tutorial wasn't very helpful, and any suggestions I can pass on to him would be appreciated.

Nothing gameplay wise, but here's a good one for you: turn off the in-game chat menu. You can do this by pressing the '>>' button next to the chat box. Of course, this only applies if you're a PC player.

The community for this game is horrible, trust me. I don't know how old your son is, but you don't want him exposed to the vile and nasty comments from other players (and it will happen a lot).

The matchmaking system is not friendly to both sides so the games are not going to be easy.

You both have to play and practice a lot.

I suggest you to play as a survivor, learn how to hide, how to loop the killer in the chase and how to survivre with teammate in order to escape.

Once you know how survivors play and you play decent, it will help you alot if you want to play as killer next.

It will help you to find survivors faster, will help you end the chase faster if you know where they are going next etc.

The most important thing is not to expect a victory in this game but to play for fun.

Here are some videos to help you get started:

two content creators, Spooks n Jukes and Otzadarva. Both are very humble players who I recommend everybody watches.

Otzdarva is a very wholesome and strong player who makes very in-depth videos about the game from mechanics to killers to tierlists. He hands down makes the most informative videos on DBD, and you're guaranteed to learn something new everytime. Just watching his gameplay too, as opposed to his information videos is a great help, as you can also pick up tips to improve from following what he does.

Spooks N Jukes while not as strong a player is probably one of the most humble players on DBD, and I would absolutely recommend him if you're feeling frustrated as he has an incredibly sound outlook on the game. And for me personally completely changed how I see others players and how I deal with toxicity and frustration.
