Alright so I did a bad and reinstalled DBD for mikaela because she is cool and decided to try out the event to see if it was good or not so I could make a post about it on forums because people totally love waking up and opening a thread about me talking about boring stuff, but any who
Rift Event
Love this idea, making the event linked to a event dedicated to a tome is such a cool idea imo and I love it, while I will always remember the community challenges of the old days of dbd, this was my favorite part of the event and made the event have some sort of liveliness to it, even gives rift shards too
Pumpkins
While its the kicking animation for victor, I love these too, either get nothing or something and usually feel dread when kicking it mid-chase and getting hindered points when you really wanted haste. I will say however that it would have been better if it wasn't totem spawns tbh, because totems can be unbreakable at times and it can lock a part of an event behind a bug
Offerings
This will be the first negative of this, the offering BP is bad, really bad, 3k per gen you finish when using it is alot less than you think it is, as the years prior to this it was 3k per event gens completed by anyone, doesn't help that the BloodWebs are really bad at giving event offerings still due to the webs being cluttered. These offerings also make the gameplay feel bad as well because nobody likes bringing an offering they can't even use. I recommend making Event items in general much more common in Bloodwebs so the webs feel eventy and allow people using the offerings for the event to get BP for gens anyone completes (Like whats the worst that can happen? its not like the Mystery Boxes of Christmas that plagued the land with iri head huntresses)
Items
Meh, tbh I only like the spooky items for the survivors as unlike the killers, these don't take up an important part of the kit, while losing 1 add-on is pretty hefty for the killer

I miss the community challenges so much, but I also miss alot of things about dbd

The offerings/tangled hooks & gens are the most disappointing part for me. In years past, the Blighted Gens gave more points and the petals were easy to find in webs. This year, I've barely seen anybody use a cursed seed offering, because they're so hard to find in bloodwebs.

Back with the blighted gens, they gave out 3k BP every time anyone completed a gen to everyone with the offering, allowing a max of 15k BP off of gens, this event requires you to finish 5 gens yourself to get 15k with the offering. So basically you are getting much less out of an average game than with pustula petals

Investing bp in a survivor during the item is fine because you only lose the offering but keep all the rest but investing bp in killer during the event is just dumb and a waste of bp.
Survivor item are fine its the uncommun item but for 3k bp instead of 4k bp so leveling a survivor is worth the investment

I think the event, while appealing at first, is rather lackluster. Maybe I'm biased because I liked the old events, but this seems meh. We got a re-texture which is cool and all, but the only new thing we got was pumpkins. Boring. Not an interesting objective either. I am disappointed considering this is no other events now because they are supposed to be making this one better.
Side note #1: Your idea the gens should count when everyone does them is a good idea. It used to be like that back in Scorching Summer BBQ and the First Lunar Year event. Definitely liked it better that way and don't know why they removed it.
Side note #2: I liked the events like the last Lunar Year one with the lanterns you had to grab. It made an interesting secondary objective for both sides (similar to the crowns for the anniversary)
Side note #3: The outfits are great, I'm not saying they aren't. I just hate going through some of these challenges to get them when I would much rather do another objective. Mainly for the reason you stated. Not enough spawn and I either don't get to the gens in time or am never close enough to the hooks

What I feel bad for this event is the event is mainly focused on event archives, so I feel like I'm playing games for archive challenges and game itself do not come as event while playing. Also continuous grind things are still prevalent even if there is something called 'event' is going on. This year's Halloween is no doubt much better than last year's but it is really getting monotonous.
