MMR in this game is just a joke
If I remember correctly for survivor it decides how skilled you are based on escapes and if it does escaping does not equal skill. You could very well hide around maybe get to second phase on hook and still escape. That doesn't mean you have skill though the same way dying doesn't mean you're bad. Sure if you die before any gens are done sure you can argue that sometimes. Though with all the factors that cause things in this game to shift your skill or mmr rating should not be dictated by by just escaping. You doing gens should count, doing totems, escaping a chase, protecting your teammates and all those other things are what matter. I just looped a doctor for no idea how long while having just one person other than me alive and eventually I got caught. The other survivor did nothing but cower and hide while having a full purple toolbox to use on a gen, but all they did was hide.
These are not the teammates I should be getting this person acts as if they're a new player and maybe they are, but I have almost 1.7k hours on this game on PC and prob another 2k from my time on PS4. I'm by no means the best survivor but I know for a fact i'm not bad at this game my killer side needs some work but my survivor MMR seems like its just shat given the quality of teammates I get most games which is ironic because if I die again it pushes me further down which only makes the issue worst. I cannot escape if 2/3 of my teammates don't know what they're doing or act like they're playing Outlast.
MMR feels like the dumbest thing this game could've added. If it actually works just based on escapes its way too simple to be a real way of dictating skill and it needs to be changed and have more factors.

mmr is only calculated based on escapes and kills despite them reassuring us multiple times before the system came out that it was more complex then that
shit one of the devs that went over it even said that making a system that actually worked would be 2 hard and 2 complicated lmaoo I love this studio

That is so stupid. Kills doesn't mean skill either. I can agree with it more than escaping, but people self delete on hook all the time and people leave teammates on hook all the time for death. That isn't by the killer's doing a killer's skill comes from stopping gen completion and ending chases as fast as possible.

oh we all agree and we all told them it was a terrible idea and yet again they kept reassuring us they knew what was best for us but clearly they do not
I would say most of the playerbase would be discontent with the way sbmm works if they knew the way it works but sadly the only way the would know is reading these forums or watching killer vids on youtube where content creators talk about it and I would say sadly 80% of the playerbase does neither of these

I've had sweat fest matches pretty much every game. I rarely ever get those chill matches.

The first(Or was it 2nd?) rank system more or less only cared about the kills/escapes and it was replaced due to being defective.
It was defective specifically because it couldn't judge skill of the killer/survivor as for killer 8 hook 0k or 0 hook 0k were no different to it.
For survivor it couldn't tell the difference if you ran the killer for the entire game then got out vs being immersed the entire doing nothing and getting carried by a swf.
Yes this is the developers ACTIVELY REGRESSING the game's matchmaking reusing an old system that they themselves have called out for being defective.

I didn't ask for ######### and I don't think I ever saw anyone ask for MMR until the devs mentioned it was coming. I just wanted rank rewards I didn't ask for ######### MMR because I know they can't handle anything that is even remotely complex with this game. Its been out for like 5 years and we just now are getting some of the bigger issues fixed or things like rank rewards despite having a ranking system almost the entire span of this game's life time.

You know the mmr system doesn’t work when they hide it. Show us our mmr and who we are teamed with and matched against.
The new “grade” system is just a participation award for just playing. And everyone thinks this is the “rank” which is incredibly irritating. Listening to survivors brag about getting to red rank … you never made and maintained rank one before the new system and you think you made it now? When you can’t depip after making it to a new grade? Yeah ok
i used to almost always get to rank one unless I had a really buys month with projects or events. And I actually had the same few killers (cross play was on) and saw many of the same survivors
now I’m being matched with players hiding and immediately throwing pallets… killers who can’t land a hit on me and tunnel/camp
when I play swf we end up just destroying the killer… idk how anyone plays killer… think that’s why they all camp and tunnel
what happened to this game?
picked it back up after a two month break for the new cosmetics in the rift but I’m not even going to bother working towards it.

A class system must exist.
Ranking is another symbol of mine in the game.
It is an identity that is shown to others based on my skills.
That's why many fighting games use a rank system and match play based on rank.
It is maintained and passed on as a tradition.
For now, we recommend introducing a new system for Dead by Day, but
It was patched too early and many reject it.
Developers do not feel the urgent need to withdraw this patch.

The MMR system has made me scared to try out new Killers outside of their Adepts and power trophies. I start getting more and more scared that I'm going to throw that Killer into hell with each passing match because of how horrible MMR is. That's already happened to Nemesis, Doc, and Wraith because of how much I used to play them before MMR came out. One kill equals a win now with the MMR system. I tried going for Spirit's trophies, and after three 4ks the game was already giving me Survivors with more than 2k hours. Three games. That was enough for the game to go "ok you're a god". Imagine if I was a weaker Killer like Billy or new to Killer in general. I could've just picked up the game, played for maybe an hour and the game already thinks I'm some kind of god. That'd be a horrible first experience with the game.

Bro, I was going for Slippery meat memes with the luck perk and you know what happens? People kill themselves on hook and ruin my stacks. I have to purposely farm them and go down in their place just to have a chance with Lady luck. It is insane.

Its not a good system, but its definitely not worse than the previous one we had. Solo Q was also swarmed by bad survivors in red ranks, and you were often paired as a red rank with full yellow rank lobbies.
I feel like now you at least get a chance to be consistently paired with better survivors, if you are able to get out of low mmr of course. And if you are low mmr means killer is low mmr as well. Not a random bullshit we had before.

My experience with mmr in solo q:
Did all 5 totems and 2 and a half gen in one round, in another match I did 4 gens alone (trickster let me get out after killing everyone), teammates wasting checkpallet when the killer is chasing me after I saved them from basement (same survivor unhooked me without bt in front of the killer), teammates hiding instead of doing gens. This felt like I started playing again, I suppose I played with beginners all this time.
As killer I played like 30 matches in all my dbd time (most matches with Freddy, Meyers and Pig) and got pro survivors. Never got a kill since mmr, before I managed to kill at least one survivor, most of the time I got a 4K.
For better understanding: I was at rank 3 as survivor when we still had the rank system and in the ash ranks as killer.
In conclusion: mmr is even more unbalanced than the old rank system.

I think they cannot implement a proper MMR system, because there aren’t enough killers. It’s easier to get higher skill with survivor, than over 25 killers.
Mastering and learning a killer takes time, in case of some killers you can use the same foundation, but powerwise even an addon change can mess up timing, muscle memory.
There is a sweatfest because simply there arent as many high skill killer compared to the amount of survivors. That’s why you can increase your MMR quicker as a killer than as a survivor. This is why when we tested first the MMR certain streamers waited hours to find a game, so they couldn’t implement that version of MMR.

The old rank system might as well have just been pure random and rank didn't mean skill then just like it doesn't now. You want rank one? Just play a ton in a month and you'll get it eventually.

Literally every week the forum had been blowing up to get an MMR system before they introduced the mmr system. I watched as it went from begging and CM's telling everyone that there were no plans to add an mmr system because they didn't want to make the game competitive, to they were talking about it, to they were planning to implement mmr. I watched as they tested a broken MMR system. I watched as they released a broken mmr system.
This is literally - entirely - the community's fault.
