Who's Better? James Wan or Jason Blum?

Member Posts: 429

James Wan is the guy who made "SAW", "Insidious", and "The Conjuring" series including "Annebelle" and "The Nun". He also made movies like "Lights Out", "Dead Silence", and "Malignant".

Jason Blum is the guy who made "The Purge", "Sinister", and "Paranormal Activity". He also made movies like "Happy Death Day", "Get Out", and "Hush".

They also helped each other out in a few movies. And both their names start with a "J".

Both tend to have about the same hit or miss ratio as Nick Cage. Solid, even good, stories and vision is there maybe 1/3 of the time, but studios and archetypes box them in

    James Wan

I'm going with James Wan because Jason Blum is solely a producer while James Wan is a producer, writer and director. Wan co-wrote Saw and directed it for instance, and he wrote, directed and produced The Conjuring 2.

Blum's production company has quite a lot of films, including some solid movies like Get Out and Whiplash, but in terms of on the ground level of expertise I think Wan is more of the Renaissance man in Horror who does it all.

Wan directed and co-wrote the first Saw, which is one of my favourite films. However, his overall portfolio isn't mind-blowing to me.

Blum is only a producer. I have enjoyed some of the films that have come out of Blumhouse, but many are overly politicised trash.

I only enjoyed The Conjuring, so I voted Blumhouse as they put out a lot of fun films.
