Is the Blight just a Red herring?

So this is something that I thought about in the recent days. Why would the entity allow others to work with Blight and have a Killer who is essentially full of the stuff if it’s his or her weakness? Because I believe this is just another way to give the survivors false hope and feed off that hope until they get the crushing realization that they have been had.

None worked with Blight when he was experimenting, he worked alone while trying to find a way out of the realm by creating and using different types of serum. The Entity couldn't get Blight because he kept himself hidden after finding Vigo's journal and he may also have used part of the Entity's own power to help with that because he was able to harness it. Entity got him later because his addiction to the serum took over and he started to lose his memories.

After Talbot mutated into the feral beast that is Blight he completely lost his mind and he has no memories of who he was. The serum may have replaced his bloodstream, so there is no way to get rid of it. He is probably the most devout killer because he has no emotions or will of his own and has the closest connection to the Entity of any of the killers.
