Can't de-pip?

I've been trying for like an hour or so trying to de-pip so I can get out of red rank and avoid as many try-hard, toxic sweats but for some reason, even if I do nothing, I can't de-pip to a lesser rank. Is this due to the MMR or something? I just want to know why I'm still in red rank.

There's no point in depipping - it no longer affects your matchmaking. Your SBMM will lower if 3 or 4 survivors escape.

Mechanically - I've still depipped, so I think you still can? But at the same time, I've also had matches where I should have depipped and it gave me Brutal Killer anyway, so it seems buggy.

But that's the thing. I went like 6 rounds just walking around, smashing pumpkins and walls, completely avoiding survivors and letting them leave and I still can't de-pip. I would end the game with like 1000 points and still get brutal killer so yeah I think it is a bug.

"Sigh" so I'm stuck with these toxic sweats huh?

Pips are probably bugged, but your matchmaking should ease up regardless of the pips if you're letting survivors escape time and time again. God knows my matchmaking went to hell when I did that - though it does take a while to move significantly upwards or downwards. Also, I find evening and nighttime tend to produce sweatier games on average, and more chill matches happen during the daytime (using general US timezones for the majority.) There's more SWFs queued at night.

Not gonna lie, that's gonna be pretty hard to avoid since I usually start playing DBD after work at night. Just that I've noticed the toxicity has been extra strong lately so I guess I can just save the game for weekends. But thanks for your help I appreciate it.
