Face/Off Chapter Concept
I originally wrote this for shits and giggles. But the idea somehow became weirdly complex as I thought of ways to tie Face/Off and DBD together, even though F/O wouldn't work as a DBD chapter for obvious reasons. (Seriously, imagine the licensing clusterfuck if BHVR kept using Nicholas Cage and John Travolta's likeness.)
In any case, this was fun to write.
Realm: Chapel
A two-story place of worship, situated on a beach in Los Angeles. This realm is inhabited by White Doves (as seen in the movie), which function the same as Crows (ie flying away when someone runs past them, revealing the locations of idle survivors).
Killer: Castor Troy, “The Assassin”
Backstory
Castor Troy was the deadliest terrorist of Los Angeles. Years ago, he attempted to assassinate Sean Archer, but accidentally killed the latter’s son instead.
Cut to 1997. Troy planted a bomb in the LA Convention Centre with the aim of extorting the government for money. During a shootout with Archer, Troy got knocked out by a jet engine. Instead of taking him to jail, the FBI brought him to the ICU with another plan in mind.
To find out the bomb’s location, Archer reluctantly agreed to disguise himself as Castor by surgically removing his own face and wearing the comatose Castor’s face. However, the procedure also awakened Castor from his coma. Realizing his face was gone, he forced the surgeons to transplant Archer’s face onto him before killing them. Castor then set out to assume Archer’s identity and take over his life while Archer was stuck in Castor’s role as a criminal.
Although a sociopath, Castor does show to have an altruistic side. While disguised as Archer, he saved the latter’s daughter Jamie from an attempted ######### and taught Jamie how to defend herself by giving her a switchblade (which would ironically lead to his defeat).
Following a series of events, Castor and Archer confronted each other at a chapel and then on a speedboat for the final showdown. Still bearing Archer’s visage, Castor carved it with a knife, taunting “Every time you look in the mirror, you will see my face.” Those were his last words before he was killed by Archer.
Or so it seemed.
When Castor woke up, he found himself back in the chapel. Fog was everywhere, and a disembodied voice was commanding him to kill everyone in this realm.
What the hell was that voice? Was it God? Satan? A bad trip?
It didn’t matter. Castor was more than happy to oblige. Sure, he was stuck wearing his archenemy’s face, but nothing was going to spoil the fun of a free killing spree.
Weapon: Switchblade
One twist of this melee weapon, and your victims’ wounds will never close.
Press the Attack button to hit any survivor within a close range.
Mirrors
When facing Castor Troy, survivors will see Mirrors located throughout the environment.
Survivors can undo the effect of Castor’s power by destroying a Mirror. For each survivor, only one Mirror will bear his/her reflection; every other mirror will show them an image of one of their teammates. Survivors can only kick Mirrors with their own reflections. Attempting to destroy a teammate's mirror will put a survivor in the Broken status. (This still applies if survivors use the same character and cosmetics.)
Power: Springfield M1911-A1
Your victims are their own worst enemies. Even if they escape you, they’ll be forced to face with themselves alone.
Hold down the Secondary Attack button to aim your gun at a survivor. While aiming your gun, you will remain stationary until you open fire. Hold the Secondary Attack button again to recharge your weapon.
Hitting a survivor with Gunfire will inflict them with the Anguished status; they will not be able to see anyone’s Auras and their healing speed will be slowed down by several seconds. They will also be inflicted with the Hemorrhage status.
If the bullet hits your target while another survivor is directly behind them, both survivors will go down a health state, nullifying protection hits. However, the survivor to receive a second-hand bullet wound will not be Anguished.
When the last generator is fixed, an Anguished survivor won’t see the Auras of the Exit Gates unless they destroy their respective mirror.
Perks
1. The Switching Hour
You've learned a lot about your enemies by putting yourself in their place. And now you'll use it against them.
Each time you hit a survivor, gain a token. Once you gain 3 tokens, you gain the third-person perspective while the next survivor you hit gains the first-person killer perspective for 15/30/60 seconds.
The survivor inflicted with the first-person perspective receives a stackable 3/6/9% penalty for all actions during the switch.
"It's like looking into a mirror, only…not."- Castor Troy
2. Blowout
One wrong move, and your enemies will blow their cover.
Hold down the Active Ability button while opening an empty locker to plant in a bomb with a 45/35/25 second timer. The next survivor to interact with an Explosive Locker before the end of the countdown will be faced with a difficult Skill Check. Failing the Skill Check will set the bomb off, triggering a loud noise notification and causing the survivor to go down a health state. Succeeding a Skill Check will disable the bomb. If no survivor interacts with the locker by the end of the bomb’s timer, it will explode on its own.
When a locker explodes, survivors within 2/4/6 meters of the locker suffer a decreased field of view for 5/10/15 seconds and reveal their location to you. Generators within that radius will also explode, regressing by 15%.
After a locker explodes, it becomes permanently uninteractible.
Start the trial with 3/4/5 tokens. Consume a token for each bomb that goes off.
“Try terrorism for free. We'll blow some ######### up. It's more fun.” -Castor Troy
3. Two-Faced Guard
Compassion is overrated. But you’ll lend protection to the weak, if for your own desires.
You become obsessed with one survivor.
If your Obsession remains injured or in the dying state for 25/20/15 seconds, all other survivors suffer the Incapacitated status effect for 20/30/40 seconds. Your Obsession will then passively gain 5% to their healing progress and a 3% speed boost.
If your Obsession is on the hook, the summoning stage is slowed by 5 seconds. All other survivors suffer the Exposed status for 25 seconds if they fail to rescue the Obsession for 40/30/20 seconds during the struggle phase. Windows and pallets are blocked by the Entity for 30 seconds if the Obsession is sacrificed.
This perk will only be active when your Obsession is at least 30 meters away from you. Deactivates when two survivors are in the trial and during the End Game Collapse.
If your Obsession is the only survivor to escape the trial, your Devout ranking will be unaffected. Alternatively, you will gain 120% bonus bloodpoints in the Devout category if the Obsession is sacrificed.
"I am the king."- Castor Troy

Backstory
Following the death of his young son, Sean Archer spent the better part of six years hunting down Castor Troy, vowing to bring the assassin to justice. Consumed by his grief and rage, Archer closed himself off from everyone he knew, including his family, with his need for vengeance as his main drive.
Following a series of events, he thought he finally killed Castor once and for all. When he was finally ready to come to terms with life's tragedies, Archer was suddenly whisked away by a thick fog.
As his vision cleared, he realized he was back in the chapel. Behind him, a voice—his voice—muttered, “It never ends…” in mock exasperation.
Perks
- Eyes on the Prize
You’ve lost people you cared about, and you’re determined to protect those who remain with you.
If the killer is carrying another survivor at least 20 meters away from you, crouch for 10/5/3 seconds and press the Active Ability button to fire your gun. Successfully hitting the killer will stun them for 3/5/7 seconds, allowing the survivor to escape.
Be careful: the bullet can also hit a survivor if they’re in your way, which will immediately put them into the dying state. Survivors will receive a noise notification when you start to aim your gun.
Successfully hitting the killer will grant you %120 bonus Bloodpoints in the Altruism category
Firing your gun (whether you hit the killer or not) will disable the perk for the remainder of the trial.
“What we don’t have in common, is that I don’t care if I live, and you do.” -Sean Archer
2, Prisonbreak
You know how to get yourself out of situations where the odds are against you.
After you safely unhook a survivor, Jailbreak activates.
If you’re grabbed by the killer while in the Healthy State, your time to wiggle free is decreased by 3/4/5%. You will remain in the Healthy State and gain the Haste status effect for 2/3/4 seconds when you escape the killer’s grasp.
Successfully escaping the killer’s grasp will disable the perk for the rest of the Trial.
Deactivates when the last generator is repaired.
“Let’s get outta here.” -Sean Archer
3, Reconciliation
The past has left you with deep wounds. Now it’s time to pick up the pieces and start anew.
All pallets are revealed to you for 5/10/15 seconds at the start of the trial.
For each survivor you heal from the dying state, you will be able to repair a pallet that the killer has destroyed. It will take you 15/12/10 seconds to repair a destroyed pallet. During this process, you and the killer will see each other’s Auras.
“When you wake up, everything will be restored...just the way it was.” -DC Surgeon

What would be wilder? A Travolta SWF team? Or a Cage SWF team?
Now try imagining the killer with a Cage cosmetic AND a Cage SWF team in the same trial....
If you've gotten this far, good job. You're amazing.
(Hope this whole DDOS ######### gets resolved. Be safe, everyone.)
