    Con: free ammunition to teaming griefers.

    Empathy griefers were so common in my dbd mmr range at one point that I was wishing for a perk that would hide my aura from other survivors indefinitely.

    Well-written post! You sold me. I will start using After Care since I mostly play solo queue.

    Why use Aftercare when you could instead be using Mettle of Man? In solo it’s better to work on taking extra hits to make up for people who suck at chases, off themselves on hooks, etc. It works in either 3 ways.

    1.) You escaped the trial, and you never needed it.

    2.) You activate it, and it helps you escape by granting 3 hits.

    3.) You activate it, gets you tunneled, but everyone else escapes.

    I currently run MoM, DH, Head On, and Sole Survivor. Often carrying med kits I farm via Pharmacy and Ace in the Hole. I Had a match earlier where an Ace sacrificed himself on hook after 1 gen was done because as we tried to heal him we all got stabbed. Then he got downed. I instantly gain a token to disrupt killer aura detect by 24M (Killers often use BBQ, and Floods of Rage). From all the stabbing I had activated MoM to take an extra hit which stalled long enough to get the gens done. Feng died trying to break NOED. I got 48M aura protection. Me and the Yun escaped because I made her see my aura across the map by the exit gate. Then I hid well when she got within 48M. While she was looking for me with her NOED Yun broke her NOED across the map in killer shed in which Legion ran to get her. I opened the door. We both got out.

    It's one of those perks that needs a buff. Hopefully it'll be one of the perks that they plan on balancing this year. I remember when Windows of opportunity was just a perk recommended for beginners, but now that it's been buffed I use it in most of my builds. Maybe a similar situation will happen if the aura loss was removed from aftercare. I'd use it over bond then

    As far as aura reading perks in the style of Aftercare go, in my opinion Kindred is better than Bond is better than (depending on the build) Empathy/Empathic Connection is better than Aftercare is better than Blood Pact.

    Aftercare is still definitely above the "good perk" line (unlike Blood Pact in solo queue) but I do believe there are better options.

    When I saw the title I was like 'Yeah but Kindred is just better because usually you want your team to know where everyone is when you are on hook which is when Aftercare deactivates'. However you are right, they have excellent synergy together. Where Aftercare goes down, Kindred comes into play. Not sure if it's worth two perk slots but aura reading is definitely king in solo.

    While I like Aftercare, the early game is bad because I need Kindred to know what people do and where the killer goes / camps.

    Aftercare + Kindred I might try.

    Kinda like twins.

    Perks? Not great, but not atrocious. they have their moments.

    Uniqueness and lore? A+++

    Sorry but I'll stick to Empathy. It's map-wide and shows all survivors injured even before anyone is hooked.
