    Chases yes, pre drop kick simulator no, real skillful chases like the ones we had before sure they were really fun to be outplayed and outplaying.

    Can be, but not long chases. 50/50 chance for mindgames or down at a pallet feels fine. Pre-drop into Pre-drop is just tedious and is boring on both sides.

    Yes but not really.

    I enjoy long chases as survivor but hate them as killer if they are too long, no matter how "fun" they may seem

    The chases are my favorite part of the match. However, map rng can easily make this experience very fun or very frustrating for either side. Sadly, it feels like I have to end chases as quickly as possible in order to apply pressure on generators all the time when I would personally like them to last a good amount of time to be enjoyable for both sides. Again, this can be heavily dictated by the map rng.

    It depends.

    If the loop is short and safe, it can go die in a fire.

    Looking at you Gideon Meat Plant. Nearly all of the loops on the top floor of that map are both long enough that the Survivor can position themselves in a spot to be 100% safe without me committing to a direction to loop and are short enough or have enough holes that they can see me the entire chase so they can see which way I'm committing to looping. Add both together, there's zero mindgame potential to get a faster hit. I have to either abandon the chase or hold W in a circle until the Survivor throws the pallet and then I break it and they easily run to the next pallet and then we do it all over again and again and again and again and again... can you tell I don't like The Game's rework? The basement is better because there are walls for mind games but it still isn't great.

    No joke, upstairs of the Game and other loops/maps like them is why I started maining old Trickster. Those loops are garbage vs him. They're garbage vs current Trickster too... but I'll be honest, I hate only having 44 knives. Hardcore miss Old Trickster who could easily be packing 70 of them.

    They should be. If you're not having fun in chases, you're still pretending that this is a horror game. It's literally the most engaging and skill dependent activity in the game.

    Yes i still loop, havent felt the need to pre drop and hold w key. Looping/Mind games is fun.

    What about m1 killers and busted tiles? When you just have to eat those pallets, no mindgame potential or anything?

    Not really. When I got into DBD, I was looking forward for more 'hide n seek' stealth gameplay. But as i've played it for about a year, I just learned to go with it.

    Depends on the kind of killer or survivor I'm against

    Anti loop killers or early runner survivors that just predrop are boring. Anything else is usually fun

    For killer:

    Those who don't really enjoy chases would probably like playing killers who has potential to end chases very quickly, such as Myers (low TR and insta-down), Huntress (close-range hatchets), Bubba (insta-down out in the open), and Trickster (same with Bubba, but not literal insta-down).

    For survivor:

    Those who play stealthily or focus on generators very likely prefer playing that way instead of committing to chases.


    As a killer main, I personally like chases on both sides, no matter the killer or survivor I'm playing against.

    This game is build around chases from both the killer's and the survivor's end.

    If you aren't chasing, you are just holding M1 or W.

    If you don't enjoy chases, this probably isn't the game for you.

    Sometimes I love chases as survivor if the killer is threatening and I am not at the safe tile. Otherwise it is braindead and some killers can't do anything but to drop chase.

    As m1 killer it just forces you to break pallets if mindgame is not possible. Also boring.


    I think if game was more fair to killers it would be more interesting. Otherwise some killers really can't do much in chases. I see everyone getting destroyed unless they play more viable and anti loop ones.

    Safe pallets...yeah. I generally just get them out of the way and break it. I've gotten fairly good at baiting drops too.

    My main fear though isn't pallets, it's vault loops. There are still some defacto infinites in the game - I encountered a team that knew how to abuse the Haddonfield 'House of Pain' last night for the first time and it was literally unwinnable. They'd just book it to the house and could then easily loop me even at BL3.

    It can be. Can also make you pull your ######### hair out when rng plays too much of a role. Nothing worse than a ######### map (lol most of them), crazy rng setup, finally mind game the boots off them, DH...pallet to face. ..######### this gm.

    I find the heart-pounding barely not getting caught aspect of the game to be far more enjoyable than a chase. A chase means I failed to sneak around. Watching the killer look around and not being able to find me will forever be my preference.

    You know, I haven't thought about it before but I actually don't think I like chase that much. I prefer stealth and setting traps. Every now and then I have a really fun chase with someone, but, most of the time, people play the tiles exactly the way they're "supposed" to and it's just about how long it takes to do the different steps.

    Hmmmm to be fair DBD Works for me when I'm doing objectives and the progress bar is filling up lol. It's like therapy for me. Well, except when there are thanato..

    About chases, Idk I don't loop that well so it's pretty meh for me... Especially when it looks like things happen so precisely, like, I'm running in a circle loop and the killer hits exactly when I'm on the pallet because the prompt didn't appear fast enough for me to drop.

  • High Mmr killer here and I’ll tell you right now, no chase is fun when playing a weak killer. especially when it’s a broken 4 man, bonus if they’re streaming and making money off you too! But I doing chases as a nurse against a 4 man toxic twitch party is always fun. Especially when they get so upset that they beg their audience to report you!

    I guess it depends on the Killer and map,

    if its a rather balanced map like lets say Coal Tower with a decent amount of pallets but not too many, then I dont mind having long chases or chases in general.

    But on the game or midwich chases are the most annoying thing in this game where the survivors just dropps every pallet and has 20 more behind him or just holds w and you too and you both play a racing game.

    If a chase has abit of everything, decent amount of pallets, mindgames, cool tiles, and abit of holding w, nothing of these things too much, then I have real good fun imo. Thats why I love Clown or Nemesis, these Killers have the most fun chases.

    If a survivor has stretched rez and 6k hours while never making a mistake then it is boring and may as well be playing against an AI.

    That's going to depend on the person.

    I like the large view of things. Applying pressure, working out where survivors are, putting them in situations where they can't draw me into a chase/loop or shut it down. If I commit to a chase, I abandon all of that for a few mindgames that I don't enjoy much or have perk synergy for and throw away my overall position. So no, I don't enjoy the contradiction.

    I'm sure there's some killers who'd rather have a good chase than think about overall game state. Good for them. But the idea that "chasing is the only gameplay" is definitely a survivor-biased view.

    The game definitely isn't balanced for M1 killers anymore. There's only so much skill on display in those situations because if the survivors run around the loops correctly, there's nothing the killer can even do.

    On either side, I'm always having fun in a chase cause I do not take the game beyond series like most people.

    The odd time yeah I can have frustrating moments but that's about it. (Usually it's down to last gen console performance).

    Nah. The most fun part about this game in my opinion, is trying to survive in dire situation. When the whole team is involved. Like when killer have multiple slugs, and he tries to finish the game, and survivors try to reset. When survivors bodyblock and try to save the guy who is gonna die on hook. Situations like this.

    Holding W from pallet to pallet, and running in circles around them, while gens being done in the background is not fun.

    Chases are fun when there's no pallets on the map.. It becomes mind games. Pre drop pallet simulator is boring bs.

    I hate chases, being looped feels so silly.

    That's probably why I play mainly insta-down killers (Ghostface) or anti-loop killers (Pyramid Head, Nemesis, Plague, Deathslinger, etc.).

    It depends on which loops they run to and how many pallets or if hit validation procs. As a general rule of thumb, if it takes 90 seconds, there was something wrong with the chase that made it unfun for me.


    I want a sweet spot where the survivor is quite competent, but not completely optimized, where we are both taking risks to try and end chase.

    Trickster to artist... No!! just holding m1 cause the killers are unable to be looped normally. Everyone before Yeah!!!I feel like I can have more engaging chases with killers that came out before trickster.

    Most times they are but I also enjoy different things: I like stealth play and instant downs.

    Stealth is often regarded as "not an option" or "not fun". I think it is very funny for me as a Killer it is a challenge, for me as survivor it is extremly tense and most of the time allows little room for mistakes as Killers are not dumb after all.

    Also instant downs are fun to play to. Ghostface is a Killer I enjoy very much and I have fun stalking as well as sneaking up to a person. Same goes when I play against a Ghostface, I have fun calling out from where my opponent comes and then reveal him.


    Chases themself depend on the Killer. I like playing against most Killers in a chase however I think that basic M1 killers lose a bit of their flavoure after some time. Hillbilly, Oni, Bubba, Cenobite and other Killers with cool abilities bring in more fun chases than most basic M1 killers. The only Killer I realy dislike is Huntress and the only one who I think is plain out boring is Trickster.

    So yes, chases are fun. But outplaying the Killers ability is even more fun for me. As an example: I realy enjoy outplaying Pyramide Head and punishing his slow turning rate when he charges his power and I have much fun bamboozeling Spirits by standing still, walking backwards or doing funky stuff like that.

    Speaking for the survivor role, most people find the chases the most enjoyable part because the interaction with the killer is why you play survivor. Sticking your face in gens and holding M1 tends to lead to boring gameplay. However some people would rather do that if they dislike chases with certain killers.

    Speaking for the killer role, it all depends on what killer you are, the map, and what structure it is. A regular M1 killer will dislike chases at structures like the house of pain/fake basement, the Disturbed Ward main building, and sometimes even long walls. While a killer like Nurse/Spirit would like a chase anywhere.

    And other than Nurse, no killer likes chases on The Game unless you like playing pallet kicking simulator.

    For the most part. As survivor I will always love a good chase with a Hillbilly, Blight or Spirit. Those are always a blast. But being chased by some others, such as Trickster, are more of a pain to get through than a thrill.

    As the chaser, I love pretty much every chase except for where 2 or more survivors are chasing each other and blinding me as much as they can. That’s not fun.

    I always found circling between a pallet super boring. That's actually why I basically never play M1 killers and I hate playing against them.

    Those type of loops where the survivor and killer are just circling around some junk are not only unfun, but it looks goofy as hell. I honestly don't know why people like it.

    I like chases on both sides where the power of the killer usually forces something different than just circling around something and having to do silly moonwalks. That's why I like Huntress, Nurse, Slinger, Blight, Pyramid, Plague, etc.

    Honestly, the more I play, the less I like chases, because it inevitably devolves into looping, and annoying micro mindgaming. "Remember the ideal pathing and start doing absurd things like walking backwards and staring at the wrong place because of your invisible red face light and pray to god map RNG was favourable".

    I'm not making any strategic decisions, my ability to influence the rest of the overall game as a killer is kneecapped beyond "abandon chase", and there's a good chance of my power not being appropriate for the situation. Anti-loop killer? 30s holding W across the map before maybe a loop; excepting if there's multi-level buildings with vaulting. Other killer? Round and round the loop we go with a power that can't do anything.

    In my opinion chases are the fun part of the game, as I feel like doing the gens are boring there's no excitement and no real challenge to them.

    But then again I am killer main and I do play both sides so I honestly can't speak on everyone else because they're opinion maybe different from mine.
