Maybe No DC Penalty on Tuesdays?
Don't think it's necessarily fair that we get punished for Steam going down...
If you Google "Steam maintenance Tuesdays," it will give you a response stating that the maintenance will begin at 7P.M. EST, and it's not even consistent with that.
Just interesting to be punished when it's happening to a ton of people, and it's not our fault.

Overall, I think it's stupid that we get the DC penalty because of crashes, steam maintenance or internet issues.
You should only get the penalty if you leave the game by yourself, that would resolve a lot of problems

The problem with that is that it's easily abused - it's incredibly easy to just disconnect your internet in that case.
The DC penalty has to punish all disconnects because of the very fact it's easy to manipulate. This is also the reason that it's kept at such a low amount initially, so if you are thrown out for Steam Maintenance for example, by the time Steam is back up the penalty is already over.

Lol there is not much they can do to determine what caused your dc. Its better to just leave it as is so its not abused.

If you dont dc on a regular basis youll get like a 1 min ban when steam resets. Is that really worth that much?
3 -
Well some do DC on a regular basis.

Those people are why the dc penalty exists.
4 -
And the people that are the reason the DC penalty exists are the people who dont want the DC penalty to exist.

If you know tuesdays are a risky day you could also just not play untill it happened. It's not that inconsistant.
Or just take the single minute of dc you'll have. If you don't DC often the penalty doesn't get high. It should be done by the time steam is done. assuming you don't often dc ofcourse

Lol It would be a shame if someone who dc's alot got disconnected during steam maintenance. Hahahahahaha 😈

That'd be a great reason if the DC penalty wasn't disabled every other week regardless.
Seriously, it's better to punish people for doing nothing wrong than to not punish people doing the wrong thing 1/7th of the time?

The only thing that bothers me is..why do I get disconnected mid-match during Steam maintenance?
I thought matches were hosted on BHVR's servers, not Steam's
Unless of course there is some core-game functionality tied to Steam's status, but I doubt it since I could be in a match with console players, that are CLEARLY not using Steam's servers..

what if people are moving/doing things in game?
if someone's healing someone else, or midchase, I'd say it's pretty safe to assume that they're playing.
also, there's that built in ping reader, couldn't it just track your ping and cancel the penalty if it deteriorates? I'm no expert on ping, but if you just unplugged, it'd all go at once, right? but if you have a hiccup, that'll be somewhat gradual?
I'm not sure.

Solution is simple: y'all come on over to console. Never even heard of Steam here.
Y'all don't really need those filters and 60+ frames anyway...

TV settings and next gen consoles be like

If I adjust that one brightness setting on my tv at all it looks like radiation pouring on in. And I'm still on Xbox1 as something like 70% of us are. Maybe next year when/if they're more available...

You say that like most nvidia filters don't look like radiation is pouring in

I'm still seeing a lot of DCs. Maybe 1 every 4 or 5 games, sometimes more. Generally when I find and hook someone early or when people are playing in a SWF, one is sitting on the hatch and the other will DC to 'give them' hatch.
It's unfortunate. But if you don't DC regularly, the penalty will be petty enough that by the time Steam is back online, you'll be able to play again.
When the DC penalty is off, this game becomes almost unplayable at times, with people DCing almost every game, the second they realize I'm playing x killer, x build or even just because I brought a sacrificial ward and their Haddonfield offering got nullified.

Is that yet another thingy I can't use on console?
