Any word on the DDOS situation?
I would really like to play again but I have had some of my friends hit by it and it worries me too, I just don't see a point in risking it right now. Is there any word on the problems of this and are they getting figured out?

Haven’t heard anything. I think it has died down as of late but I’d still be cautious. Invest in a VPN if you can.

I'm not surprised when occasional ddos happens, but I am surprised this appears to be as big of a problem as it appears to be here and is lasting as long as it is, considering how much legal risk the perpetrators are subjecting themselves to. In popular opinion, do you guys think this is just random mischief or could it be more about someone being disgruntled * cuz reasons * ?

People have become quiet about it and suggesting to use a VPN.
I don't think BHVR are going to talk about it or fix it any time soon.

They did acknowledge it but yeah it is hard to know if they'll actually do it in a timely manner. They're going to have to at some point though because this stuff is potentially life threatening against their playerbase.

Do you know a way I could possibly get a vpn for xbox? I havent found many options.

I guess its life threatening in the same way leaving the house is life threatening because you might get ran over by a car. I.e. extremely low chance. Probably lower even than that.
To OP: I would assume they'll have a fix for it as part of the next patch in the normal release schedule

Unfortunatly, I dont think its possible.

I hope so, I keep getting told to get a vpn but I can't really find one for Xbox and while I know it is a very low chance, it just doesn't feel worth risking it right now.

I quit until BHVR fixes its security flaws.

You shouldn't be required to have a VPN for a game that you had to pay for,has paid dlc, cosmetics, battle pass, they make plenty of money its there job to make sure security its good.

Yeah I know, I’m just saying that if they want to play the game, then this is what they do if they want to remain safe.

I don’t think you can for console. I would recommend turning crossplay off then.

I wasn't trying to be a jerk just pointing out with all the pay for stuff and the fact its not a F2P game there is no excuse for there security. Its really disgusting and I have 0 faith in them as a company lately with there discussion making and lack of communication on extremely important subjects.
I know someone got swatted because of our game but its the weekend and we can't be bothered to say anything

Some VPN's allow you to set them up via the router itself, this would route traffic on your Xbox through the VPN server. If you have a PC you can also install a VPN on your PC and send all traffic from your Xbox through that VPN either by setting up a "WiFi hotspot" on your PC and connecting to that hotspot on your Xbox or by using an Ethernet cable to do the same thing.
A VPN is largely unnecessary for most people.
This thread is probably worth a read in regards to why I state a VPN is not needed for most people:
