We Must Be In A RV Park
With all these campers!
Has anyone else faced an influx of campers this weekend? Is it because the game is free and a bunch of newbs are playing? Or some other reason? Or is it just me?
So far today I've been camped by:
-Ghostface
-Huntress
-Micheal
-Pinhead
=Pyramid Head
-Billy

Oh no. It's been like this forever. Though it definitely has gotten worse since the matchmaking change, and is often worse during events since people love to grief in this community.
1 -
Y'all call camping griefing, that's a riot. I just had to kick every single pallet on Leary's, face multiple body blocks and to think I decided not to tunnel their no DS potato at the beginning of the game.
Camping is a symptom.
5 -
Yep. Only played 3 games so far today and every game had a camping killer. One was a camping Ghostface and the other two were camping Doctors.
0 -
So are DS and BT. Perks that are useless unless the killer plays scummy.
4 -
I call it the strategy of a noob. Regardless, camping is for noobs. I play killer a lot and I don’t camp. I don’t care how ######### the survivors are playing. I’m not adding to the monumental amount of grief already in the game.
4 -
Exactly. I never get hit by DS or BT as Killer because I don't go for the unhooked Survivor... imagine that...
And honestly, I think it's better for pressure to go after the unhooker in the first place. Now the unhooked Survivor has to either heal themself or find someone, and with you chasing the unhooker, you have minimum two Survivors not doing the objective (three if the unhooked has someone heal them) and don't have to worry about DS or BT.
4 -
Occasionally have someone run at me with BT and body block, but just hit them and now they have to mend too. But this is usually my experience as well. I never have to worry about either of them myself. I do often feel like I need to run them when playing survivor though. Too many lazy killers with no real skill sitting on hooks.
2 -
I've actually been camped less than usual in my solo games lately. It's a refreshing change of pace. Though there was this Artist that aggressively camped, tunneled, and beat up a Jane on hook for the high sin of pallet stunning her during a chase.
1 -
Consecutive hooks are not scummy. There are a million ways consecutive hooks can happen without a killer tunneling or camping.
Also, tunneling and camping aren't scummy regardless, feel free to bring meta perks and manage those tactics appropriately.
1 -
Yep. I'm feeling myself return to the old days of running DS and BT every game just so I have a chance when I'm inevitably tunnelled for doing one thing on the list of 10000 no-nos on the Killer Rule Book. Even then, I or a teammate usually get tunnelled through DS and BT at least once a game. Just last night I played against a full-bloodied Wraith who tunnelled and camped each Survivor out of the game in succession, even after they themselves used a 4th anniversary cake... but that's not abnormal, sadly.
2 -
Doing everything you can to ensure one player doesn't get to play the game is a crappy thing to do. I don't care if it's effective or efficient. It makes the one person you're crapping on feel like they're being personally slighted. It's a crappy thing to do and requires a lack of empathy for the people you're playing against and immediately removes the possibility of it being a "good game".
2 -
I wish I could say the same... the camping and tunnelled have ramped up significantly as of late. I've been cursing solo queue regularly and applauding people who play SWF. I honestly feel like I'm torturing myself at this point with solo queue...
1 -
Yeah. Killers wouldn't know anything about being personally slighted in this game. It's a foreign concept to them.
The majority of killers will do whatever it takes to get that first kill, otherwise the game is unwinnable. We're not here to play the way you want us to play.
1 -
No it's just playing the game you signed up for. Dbd is a game where there is a chance you can get ejected in the first few minutes through legal and fair play.
I'm sorry you lost, but you weren't anymore personal attacked then when you strike out. The pitcher has no obligation to pitch slower so you can get a hit. The killer has no obligation to make sure you get a long game.
2 -
Survivors have no obligation not to flick their flashlights at you to death, which is an effective strategy at distracting you, yet doing so is kind of being a dick, don't you think?
0 -
I'd ask why you're getting downed again in 60 seconds. You should be able to run the killer longer if you're good.
1 -
Remember that the next time you are getting t-bagged.
0 -
I just want to say this and then I'll shut up for a while:
If you're a killer that can't win without camping...maybe this game isn't for you? You actually LOSE points for doing so. Maybe try something else?
0 -
I don't think that's an effective strategy, it's just an annoying background noise.
If it's effective, it's because it's triggering photosensitivty in other people. Which is a bit beyond kind of being a dick and into "things that should be obliged to not happen because actually hurting people is not on in a game".
3 -
Not the same thing. Teabagging doesn't complete gens.
3 -
Its only bad if they are using the macro. Otherwise they can do it all they want. Its their flashlight.
Edited for clarity.
1 -
But it works. So people do it. Even though they know it makes them out to be a dick. They don't care because they "Play how they want."
Also, if you don't think camping is annoying among it's other issues, you are mistaken.
0 -
I didn't say they were....? I just said to remember "I play how I wanna play" they next time they're getting t-bagged. You have confused me. Explain yourself if you'd like.
0 -
Still doesn't change the face that they're a dick.
0 -
Why not camp when you can run to your multiple boons and heal?
Camping and tunneling is cause and affect. At least in my games.
2 -
RV PARK LMAOOO

You cannot compare camping, tunneling, or slugging (which complete objectives), to behavior that exists JUST to be toxic like teabagging.
3 -
One thing I want to ask is when does camping starts for you apart from the very obvious face camp of course.
I ask because I had many games where in the end chat I got acused of camping when I just needed to pass the hook cause I checked one side of the map and need to pass you to get to the other side happens often on midwich or when I clearly see two survs sneaking to the hook when I turn around after hooking
0 -
Because you gain points from multiple boons and healing? Because it's built in to be an accepted part of the game?
0 -
If you're standing there looking at the person, from up close or a close distance, in my book you are camping. I have to pass by survivors on hooks occasionally on my way to patrol generators. I don't like to though, because again, you lose points. The only time I find it acceptable is if you've spotted another survivor in the area and you are in the area actively looking for that survivor. (Again, not standing staring at the hook)
Have continued to be camped by:
-Legion
-The Trapper
0 -
Okey then we are on the same page I think sometimes survivors just want to complain in end chat even when there is nothing to complain about.
But since the topic is open what are you're thoughts about hag I mean it's in the very nature of her power to "camp" of some kind
0 -
I think you're fine with the Hag. If someone tries to unhook right in front of my face of course I'm going to go for them...that's just cocky overconfident behavior that I will not reward. It's even less so with the Hag, where it's not even in front of her face, where she has to teleport and only if she's not caught up doing something else. I think you're fine.
1 -
i'm not saying the game being free on the EGS is the reason for this...but...
0 -
Its really not tho... thats kinda the point being made here. Unless the macro is being used it's perfectly fine for them to do it.
0 -
It's kind not though. Point not made.
0 -
And "play how you want" stops when you're actually harming other people.
Comparing flashlight macros to camping is a ridiculous false equivalence.
0 -
I never said macros. The equation stands.
0 -
The few times i really camped worked pretty well. If i got survs i could not catch i just waited at the hook till they all came to me. Works very well with Bubba... sometimes they just can´t stop trying to escape the chainsaw.
1 -
there are a ton of new player since the game became free on epic games.
they'll figure it out.
just hang tight for a bit.

Camping and tunneling are legitimate grief. You are preventing a player from having genuine interaction. You give them no time to prepare for a fair chase, and that's just assuming you're playing a balanced killer. Ik people are going to blow their load and say "oh well I don't have to give u a fair match", and I find that to be hilarious. Killers will write entire posts explaining how they're going to quit because a survivor did something mean. Or a survivor used something they don't like.
The "I don't have to give you a fair match" saying only goes as long as the person saying it has the advantage. When they lose the advantage, then it's not fair. When they're on the receiving end then it's a problem. The people who regurgitate this are the same ones writing posts about how survivor is op. The ones who swear killers have nothing going for them, so they, the victims of bhvr's favoritism, have to run full meta perks and ridiculous add-ons to compete with solo survivors.
Killer main btw. Some of you probably won't believe that, though. Mostly because I don't sit here and whine about how unfair the game is instead of getting better at it. Killers have it pretty easy with a lot of the stuff you can bring in.
1 -
Yes, killers should just play nice distributing hooks equally and let survivors open the gates before getting a single kill, just to be t-bagged at the exit anyway.
1 -
Yeah, no one said that.
0 -
Killer main here too, btw. I don't complain because I feel like we've got our own advantages. For example: We are faster and we can hit them.
0 -
From the guy who thinks T-Bagging is justified simply because killers do what they must to win, I wouldn't have put it past you to make such a false statement.
You gain points camping if it ends up securing a kill you otherwise wouldn't have gotten. If you're going up against an unhookable squad, trading the points lost camping for the additional hook states of a single survivor, and possible additional downs from overly-altruistic survivors is a net-gain for killers.
0 -
I never said t-bagging was justified. I only meant that if you're going to have the attitude that "I'm going to play how I want no matter what' prepare to deal with consequences. That is all I meant.
I don't think stating that you lose points is a false statement when it is true that yes, you lose proximity points. That's what I was talking about.
And I still mean what I said, maybe find a different game. If I can 4k without being a douche, it's highly probable you can too.
0 -
You draw very small boxes to make yourself right, it's a bad exercise. I'm going to play how I need to in order to win, I'm not sure how you got to "Well, respect t-bagging then." As someone already said, t-bagging doesn't complete gens.
Noone cares what you were talking about by losing points, killers lose more points not getting hook states, period. Defending those hook states is a net gain in points, even weighed against the penalty when the SWF squad is unapproachable otherwise.
Also, your anecdotal experience does not make for a compelling argument. This isn't hard.

I've gotten camped by 2 Hags today, but that's about it.
0 -
I've edited this several times to be as nice as possible:
Stalk a generator like everybody else. Don't like it? Don't play. Can't get along with others? Don't play. Simple.
0 -
Today's been much better, but I've been killer maining most of the day. Yesterday was nuts-o though.

I'm starting to think you're having trouble keeping track of who you've responded to, and who has responded to you on your threads.
