Ladies And Gentlemen, I Dislike The Artist
Not a very controversial post, but I dislike The Artist for a lot of reasons. Design wise I think she is a very good killer, her appearance is really nice to see and it is certainly creative. But gameplay and balancing wise, I highly dislike playing against her as a survivor. I dislike playing against pretty much every killer that strips away basic fundamentals from the game with ease. Those being Nurse and Artist for the most part now. I find Blight manageable, and I also find new Spirit manageable. I dislike The Artist for the same reasons everyone else does, but I came here to pose the question; are these killers healthy for Dead by Daylight? I am not just talking about the survivor side of the game, I am also posing this question for the killer side. The Artist to me does not take as nearly as much time to master as someone like Nurse or Blight, so it feels almost cheap to rank up with a killer who can take away so much from looping and survivability.
These kinds of killers, in my opinion, are not healthy for either sides of the game. Maybe I just have a nostalgia boner for traditional killers, but ranged killers are always something I find very unhealthy for the game. What do you all think though? There are always ways to adapt to The Artist, yes, that is not what I was stating in this post, I was simply stating that I think she is unhealthy for both sides of the game.

I think she’s very healthy for the game since killers who have to break every pallet and are loopable don’t stand a chance in this game.

Yes, she is very healthy. Everything that brings variety is very healthy. Variety in gameplay and perks and stuff is getting lower and lower lately... Also i´m pretty sure survs will adapt to her powers quickly.

She's basically mix of PH and huntress that can hit through walls but needs to so twice so she moves at 115%.
I don't see any issues, more stuff to dodge and think of as survivor. Good artists are rewarded for landing birds properly, bad ones are time inefficient and end up losing.
I can never have enough killers with strong chase powers to outplay.

So glad a can dhare my experiences with the Artist finally. All week I did not get to play against her or try the new map. So let's start with my killer experience. I love everything about her and I am nowhere near mastering her. Looks, tracking, long distance hits, etc are brilliant. My first gm i just practiced with birds didn't try to kill so resulted in 4E.
Since has been 4k 6 games in a row (not all easy). I enjoy her perks and her synergy with perks.
My survivor experience since i finally got to play against few times resulted in 4k (team threw game), and 2 4E's. I have yet to see someone downed by birds (except when i play her) so I do think there is a good amount of skill involved with her.
New map: MEH but maybe that will change. Better than RPD by Longshot.

This.

“I don’t like this killer personally so therefore she’s unhealthy for the game”

Just another anti loop killer. Use the new exuashtion perk and hold W as long as you can and “gen-rush.”

You enjoy using the word unhealthy. That’s unhealthy.

I thought you loved her?
0 -
Yo, that sadly helps.

Yeah, this game has come down to literality holding a button even longer for survivors. No fun or interactions for you unless you're a god and can loop the killer for 2 hours.

You said it yourself, that's just nostalgia boner for older killers. It's good that we have killers that deviate from the traditional looping because that got boring really fast.

She definitely has a skill ceiling which i love, just dislike that she's cucked by some maps, but yet again which killer isn't? Just with elevation issues on top of that.
As for the new map, i think it's okay, at least for her. I had a Doctor's game on there and my god that was painful. The upstairs with the crow's nest is particularly bad, and there's a super strong shack setup with 2 close pallets about 15m away in both directions.

Yes maps with any elevated tiles screw with her. Right now I enjoy her on bith sides tho and that not to common these days.

It’s okay for you to dislike her, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
That being said, she’s not unhealthy for the game.

I agree that the last 4 killers force you to hold w, and I think that's unhealthy

I just find her annoying 🙄

The problem is a combination of loop strength and map size for a traditional m1 killer so if they bring one out it will be super weak so anti loop or mobility is the only way to make them non D tier. You could shrink the maps and rework the loops but then you would have to rework or drastically down grade there powers and they would have to do them at the same time or one side will be completely screwed and we know thats to much work for behavior. The only other thing is to bring all m1 killers to the same power as anti loop which can be dow slowly and over time.

When you've played enough of her yourself she's easier to go against as a survivor, I have fun against her especially if i have a flashlight.

It definitely isn’t healthy. I see some nerfs coming her way.
0 -
Well M1 killers have no chance because every map has crazy strong tiles and 40+ pallets. Have you played Ghostface at high MMR? Have fun getting 1 - 2 hooks against a try hard team

I don't think whether or not something is healthy for the game has even the slightest correlation with the wild flailing of BHVR's nerfbat.

It is a skilled based killer, that has certain plays that can be done yet deviate from the standard. That makes it healthy for the game - we here so many people complain about BORING and this killer brings something else to the table. Most survivors don't play perfectly against her yet or don't know what to do in certain situations. Those that go like you can only hold W are uncreative and while that is true for some tiles, in most you have some other opportunities. People have to realize that the skill of the killer is part of the interaction, you cannot just do the same and as long as you don't mess up... you are safe. The killers skill and choices are part of the interaction and that is why people enjoy playing killers that are strong, because they feel like their choices and skill matters. They aren't taking away form the survivors, they are having their gameplay also be part of the interaction instead or relying on your mistakes.
If you believe people have mastered playing with or against her, I would beg to differ. There is so much to take into consideration, the options that can be done, etc. To those that only hold W against her and not even try to take some risks, because imagine losing while learning to play against a killer... you are doing yourself a disservice, learn it while the killers are also still learning.

Your comment needs a downvote, shame they didn't implement one. And I guess I was right about you spamming threads to work towards your post count. Your comment has no arguement value and I am the one to tell you this.

A killer who is disliked means they're not push overs. Thats a good thing. She just came out wait a bit before she gets nerfed.
3 -
Am I wrong though? It is a fact that people think the game should be balanced around what they like and dislike. Survivors and killers both do it. Also why are you so interested in my post count? I’m just dedicated to the game and the community so why do you have to be a jerk about it?

No. This is the only anti-loop killer most are pleased with. That is a good sign. She's amazing and takes a good amount of skill. So she's not like a nurse level of high skill high reward but she's actually pretty up there. That in itself is healthy. She has counterplay and is not too strong unlike the prenerf spirit who was super strong with little to no counterplay. That's another healthy thing. She's nowhere near unhealthy.

I honestly like her appearance and visuals...and that is pretty much it.
Not really a huge fan of killers whose counter is, mostly, holding W.
0 -
Yikes.....
Bad day? Hater? You constipated? Whats your deal?
3 -
Something like that, most likely.
No one behaves like...THAT, for no reason.
At least I think so.
2 -
That new perk isnt as bad as we all think most survivors can't use it effectively.
0 -
But she is weak :|
0 -
Because she is weak... You know a killer can't compete when there is a lack of complaints.
They see the birds removing gen patrol. Survivors have started moving off the gens in my games and it is rare to get a bird strike now.
They see the path of the birds with the handy dandy extra long trail poking out the front of it to tell them where to avoid running destroying her ability to use it out in the open
The slowdown is enough to just leave the loop and run to the next one leaving her on cooldown.
Way to much information and limitations after removing the bird mines.

She's fine, poor map design, and W gaming cements mobilities as the meta.
