Having trouble in red ranks
Hey hey, So I recently hit red ranks (rank 1 and 2) as killer and I'm having quite a bit of trouble. ruin gets destroyed 2 seconds into the game, going through loops I can't really do anything about etc. The only time I am able to score a four-man is if the survivors are just plain brain-dead. I believe this is because I use mediocre killers like The Pig and The Doctor whose powers doesn't directly help in the chase, proving quite the challenge to catch competent survivors. And I don't really feel like playing S-Tier killers. Any tips for a scrub like me to improve my gameplay?

I don't think you are using Pig correctly if you think her power doesn't help in chases. Use her Ambush at pallet loops to end chases quicker.
Would recommend watching Psychoscorpionz as well. He is a Pig main, and uses her very well.6 -
I agree with @Chi I've been playing Pig for a little over two months now and have been playing in red ranks (for the first time) for the past couple of weeks. I rarely loose a match that will knock my back to Rank 2.
For me, Pig is the funnest killer to use. Once you play with her enough to learn how to use her properly it truly is a blast.

funnest? please tell me that was intentional

@friendlykillermain Yes that was intentional. I have the absolute most fun when I play Pig.

For doc, I use an end game, 3 gen strategy. Try to save 3 gens within close proximity, and focus on getting 1-2 hooks earlier in the game. When.you are down to 3, focus on maintaining them and damaging (overcharge helps) and hopefully you will have broken enough pallets so they get mind gamed a bit.
Don't let them pull you so far away from the gens that they can pop the furthest one. And don't waste a ton of time in chases and try to time you shock so you can trap them and hit them.
It's a game.of patience but checking lockers near a recently hit gen can sometimes get you a quick hook.
By the time they whittle down that last gen and gates pop, you should be up to 2 sacrifices. Mostly you spend time trying to scramble.and injure them, breaking pallets for the illusion and damaging gens. It's a fast paced frantic style but it's fun.
Sometimes I run NOED and can slug and hook the last two. Sometimes they are super coordinated and have cleansed the totems, sometimes they are still in A locker and you get an easy hook....But depending how good they are, I always 2k....often 3k and sometimes 4k with this strategy. If I was better i would probably 4k more often but sometimes my patience runs out of they just don't make enough mistakes.
PS: There is almost no.camping or tunneling involved so end game chat may be unsatisfying, but if you run NOED and can grab that last survivor or two with it (slug and hook), you should see some.fun.comments. Plus, the playstyle.is very annoying to survivors so sometimes you get lucky and have someone go off on you anyway!2 -
Yes those killers are low tier. Not saying you can't win with them if you're good but it's going to be an uphill struggle.
You should try a killer whose ability will help in the chase more. Alternatively go watch some rank 1 streamers. Watch what they do and how they handle situations. Try to identify how they handle situations different to you. Also if you lose, identify what went wrong and where. I.e I've blown a match sometimes by commiting to chases I shoulnt have which got me too far away from the gen I needed to protect.

You need killers with map control or with the ability to end chases quickily. Pig and doc do neither of those.
Billy has good map control.
But nurse is the best, she has map control and can end chases quickly. When you play nurse and lose, then you can really blame the lose on yourself and need to "git gud"

I would personally not recommend doc great for farming points but a pretty mediocre killer. Pig is tricky the challenge will be figuring out what areas you can dash attack from and ones you cant.
Watch out for survivours who abandon loops when they see you crouch if your fast enough you can uncrouch and get them before they get to the next loop. The best position to dash attack from is on the pallet. When you start the dash try to fake the direction your going to push them to the other side and then turn aroudn this needs to be done fast and requires some practise.
Your power has a lot more oppurtunities to work once you use the video tape leather straps add ons but eventually you will run out of those add ons so try and prioritise them in the bloodweb.
I have an alternative pig build for traps on the forums but again its not to reliable just more of a fun build with big payoff and high risk.1 -

Prevent vaults, unhooks, and everyhting else with a well timed shock. Add range to it to flush survivors from hiding spots. and getting people to madness 3 slows down gen rushing considerably, and you can do that just by walking around.

you will face this problem every time you are not playing as the nurse. the nurse is the only killer atm who is able of catching a survivor simply by outskilling them.
any other killer suffers from the endless loops this game has.
(also, better get used to your ruin getting ruined (haha) asap, as the survivors usually spawn right next to it)0 -

Would recommend watching Psychoscorpionz as well. He is a Pig main, and uses her very well.Idk, only an absolute idiot is falling for an ambush hit at a pallet. I literally can't think of a single time I've ever been hit by an ambush at a pallet. Not only is it quite easy to read but as soon as she crouches you just move on to the next pallet and she just lost time there in between animation locks for nothing.

If you are playing Pig don't spam all your traps. By that I mean don't just put them on every chance you get, use them to slow the game down. Put one on the first guy and wait until your totem goes does/gen gets done then use another. Save one for the end and have Blood Warden handy.
Build is really important. If you are having trouble in chases do like Enduring + Bambo + Spirit Fury, last perk can be Ruin or something to slow the game.

Yeah that. Very strong combo for killers who are not great in chases: Doctor and Pig.

It is unavoidable at times to be hit at a pallet. It can be used in an area where there is no pallet as well.

I'm destroying with Spirit at rank 1 right now and generally get 3-4k unless I totally mess up then I'm lucky to get 1 or 2. Mostly it just boils down to mastering a killer that suits your playstyle, learning where good and bad spots are, who to chase who to ignore etc.
I never once have used ruin which i find actually catches people off guard for NOED because they see no lit totems and Ruin's not up. So they either gen rush or if your map pressure is good they don't cleanse and you get 1-2 more kills.
I'm having lots of fun with Rancor and I've faced Myers running it at rank 1 and doing quite well as well. You just need to learn what works, what doesn't, and learn from your mistakes. If you face swf and you've played swf you should know what they'll do and when.

Even better than Nurse but in my defense, using Nurse really upsets my stomach as I get motion sick from playing her..

Their are a lot of mindgames you can play with this killer that you as a survivour will have to play otherwise forfeit a free hit going out into the open.1 -

I honestly feel like Pig is worse than Wraith, she has a gimmick and I really am not surprised more people don't pick obsession perks like remember me with her and go full endgame.

Harder with the video tape leather straps add ons. As your chance to react is tiny as she crouches fast and can fake a direction if the loop is small enough. Sometimes a pig will enter crouch out of sight during a chase and if you do just abandon the pallet its quite possible the pig can just fake the crouch and just continue chasing to get a hit.
Their are a lot of mindgames you can play with this killer that you as a survivour will have to play otherwise forfeit a free hit going out into the open.
Eh I see what you're saying but just in actuality that almost never happens that well. Never seen it work that well in any game I've played at rank 1 and I play a lot more than most.

Been playing her a lot at rank 1 recently and have been having a lot of success. Even some of her trap meme builds have been snagging me kills and head pops believe it or not.
Had a hilarious moment where twice i landed an ambush hit on a player in a chase and they immediatly dced. I nearly broke down laughing. Ardeatha and truetalent have a large catalouge of videos if ya want to see the tricks in action.2 -
Or just you know, get The Spirit and obliterate all if not most red rank lobbies like I do.
SWF can become quite problematic but with the right addons, you'll even destroy them.

Imo she is the second best killer in the game as shes hard to track for survivours and massively rewards good predictions. I wish there were more people playing her more aggresively instead of defensively as its a joy to be in a chase with a spirit instead of playing the hook guessing game.
To be fair, I only play her aggressive. I don't give people chances. I phase chase people once they get hit, and down them. I run mostly overpowered perks on her, because why should I give less when survivors don't either? Decisive Strike and Borrowed Time get countered just by using the Bracelet to grab people off generators, or Yakuyoke/Wakizashi Mixture for a nice cocktail of easy kills and salt.
She's perfect.

I use hag if I'm having a hard time (i don't have spirit on pc yet ). She can hold her own against a well organized SWF group, as long as they aren't an ANBU squad from the Hidden Leaf village. (Naruto reference. i'm sayiing that as long as they don't completely ninja you, you stand a damn good chance) Or straight gen rush with a guy with a rainbow map and another with a key. If they do that, just try to get your points. They aren't looking for a game, they just want to depip you. (something that happens more when they can only safety pip or are close enough that it doesn't matter: ie: rank 1)
If you hit red ranks, you know the routes survivors liek to run, and how the game segments like to spawn. That means you have the knowledge to make the Hag work. Trap windows, drop downs, run paths, and hook escapes, and you will win a lot of games (and collect a lot of salt)

Derank. Red ranks are MISERABLE, best ranks are 12 to 5
eh.... Red ranks in games without SWF are pretty damn fun.
4 red SWF who have all been rank 1 and don't care anymore... ugh.... That's where you get gen rushing and #########.
