DBD Rework Concept
It is gearing towards the end of the year and I was just thinking about how far DBD has come in some cases and may have stepped back in others. In my opinion, I believe that it is about time to start rebuilding DBD from the ground up to make it a bit more varied. I know that there are many things that can be addressed such as maps, pallets, killer and survivor perk synergies among other things but let us get some of the easier things out of the way first. My first changing concept that I was thinking of was how perks interact with certain characters. For example, for survivors and killers the perks interact in the same way whether or not you are using the character that it came from. PGTW works just the same whether it is Hillbilly or Huntress and I find that this is something that should change going forward.
For example, the perk PGTW regresses 25% of a generator no matter what Killer is using it. How about instead of just leaving it a base 25% across the board how about having it gain an extra 10/15/20% if used with the Clown.
Another thing that would be great to rework are status effects as they are either completely useless or hard countered by perks that are currently meta. For example, what is the point of Mangled in the current healing meta, or Undetectable when Spine Chill is a thing. Other status effects like Hemorrhage and Blindness are basically useless and the only good statuses, Exposed and Hindered, are only somewhat effective and depending on the situation. How about having status effects not be based off of what addons are being used but just common sense. Like have Hemorrhage apply after a killer hits a survivor, after all they are being hit with weapons like knives, cleavers and bats, how are they not already hemorrhaging from that hit. Another could be to be Hindered for a bit after stepping out of a bear trap, as you just got your leg mangled by a bear trap and shouldn't be able to just sprint from it.
Just a few things that come to mind as I will be thinking about what steps could be taken for both killer and survivor gameplay be a little more impactful. Any other suggestions are welcome :)
