Boon totems can be good for the game.

Even though circle of healing could use some tweaks (not making it useless killer mains) I feel Boon totems can work well in dbd. But the problem is that they have been implemented poorly. A few changes to how they work and/or changes to circle of healing we can create a stone fair but balanced perk.

And frankly I'm happy for the implementation of boons. It can (and has) changed the game up, albeit in an unbalanced way currently, and it greatly helps makes totems worth doing and incentives survivors to do them, which to my knowledge what everyone wanted right?

All in all Boon totems csn definitely work just need some changes now to make it better.

Did boons change the game or did COH change it? How many shadowsteps/exponentials do you see without COH on top?

All I would do personally is nerf COH to 75% speed and add a global 45 second cooldown on all boons once one is snuffed

I'd agree with this sentiment. Boons themselves do have some sticking points- totem spawns need to be updated to work with them in mind a bit better, and I sincerely think boon effects shouldn't go through multiple floors- but they're not actually a fundamentally imbalanced or unworkable concept. It's just that CoH is far too strong, that's all.

I'd propose the two changes I already outlined, and also that self-healing speed be capped at around +75% through any means, as well as maybe lowering CoH's healing value a little.

Agreed, I actually really like Boons. I don't even think it was necessarily the Booms that are implemented poorly- I think that it just exasperated the issue that everyone knew (But didn't talk about) of totems themselves not really being well implemented. Imho if totems were better overall, I don't think Boons would be getting as much crap.

Personally I think the only perk that has changed the meta was the likes of shadowstep, lucky break, or windows of opportunity, [also plaything] because the meta is still:

    exhaustion + health state

    while killer is like:

    Tracking + slowdown

and I feel like most of the new perks that people are willing to run have to fall into those categories or they just fall behind.

Boons should only works for owners. Period.

The Boon system in general is fine. They just need to reduce Circle of Healing’s speed. I could see them tweaking the individual Boon perk’s ranges maybe, if the data shows they’re covering a bit too much area.

Honestly this is the best way to fix the perks without directly nerfing boon. Just make it so the effect only apply to the user, not the whole squad. That way boon totems can still be good.

Exactly. It would hurt only broken SWF and not solo q

Instead of snuffing a boon you stomp the bones.

gives CoH a life spam and makes it placement more strategic.

Remove the self care part of COH then i'll never complain about it again.

Giving the team free green medkits on top of toolboxes is absurdly broken.

I am always up to giving the game more variety. The problem is how BS they made the boon mechanic. If the killer were able to destroy the totem for good, it would already be a step in the right direction. The thing is, since the only way to get rid of a boon is killing the user, it is the expected that people will tunnel the boom use out of the game.

No. The self care part makes this perk for solo Q usable. Make it only work for owner.
