Demogorgon couldn't place any portals

During my last match as Demo, I couldn't place any portals which was sort of a bummer for my portal-based build. The animation would start, but then stop instantly, whether I was holding the button or pressing it, and I tried multiple places where this still happened.
The map was the Swamp, though I don't remember which variant, on Windows PC, and, in case it changes anything, I had both Red Moss and Lifeguard Whistle equipped.
