Controller on Epic Games?
I have DbD on Epic Games and am trying to use my PS4 controller to play with rather than mouse+keyboard. I did the whole "add the game through Steam and launch from Steam" trick, but it doesn't work. My controller works on Steam but when I open DbD through Steam it opens its own app/window and the controller is completely unrecognized. I'm not sure if there's another work-around or if its just not compatible in Epic... Help please :)

It sounds like you are missing some steps about the Steam setting of outside games.. it should definitely work if the controller works on Steam. Are you sure you configured it correctly?
there would be an alternative, there are third party softwares that allow you zu use controllers on Epic games. But I think they are not free.. and as I said, it should be possible with the Steam workaround..

Try to follow this cofiguration, but ignore the Nintendo specific steps I guess (it worked for me on GTA and I think another user here used it and at least didn’t say that it didn’t work…):

I ended up using the ds4 method and that worked. Not sure why the Steam method wasn’t working. Ds4 is more complicated but at least it worked :)
