Dbd In 2021
So as we wind down the year. It was interesting for DBD we had some highs and some lows but how was DBD for 2021 let’s go through each chapter release to see how things went
Mid Chapter-4.5.0
This patch was very controversial cause this was the update that changed the UI of the game. People ######### hated it cause it changed what went from a simple HUD to a clusterfuck that looked like a mobile game. When the devs stated they couldn’t change it back. It was so bad to the point where everyone pointed them out on there bullshit and they changed the UI one week later. Also in this update we got the clown rework which kind of helped but didn’t fix any of his problems. But we did get perk changes that were nice and Wraith was buffed and trapper though not what they needed but nice. They also reworked the Game and Crotus Prenn Asylum, The games reworked sucked while Asylum was alright a mixed bag. They updated the survivor movements while people hated them at first they have gotten used to them. I liked them cause it was like resident evil, a kind of odd forshadowing. Overall, first patch of 2021 not very good some good things but is a big sign of things to come.
All Kill-4.6.0
This update came with the Trickster and Yun Jin Lee. This update was Mixed. Wraith got the buff he needed badly base kit windstorm so now he’s not addon reliant, Blight got his camera fixed, Color blindness was added(though in a controversial way) and Decisive strike got the nerf it needed to finally be fair. While all that was good the killer was not. All the hype around this chapter was built up on Twitter we thought it was going to be a big chapter the best of them all the teasers we got, we thought it was going to be the first trans character and a time reversal killer. But nope we get Huntress 2 another ranged killer. Not a very good one it’s not just a copied power, it’s literally just huntress if you had more ammo and you had to hit them 8 times(before the change). He was very weak Trickster was a extremely underpowered and a joke. Also he was soon to be unfun to verse he almost became like legion of being weak but annoying to fight. It was surprising when the survivor was better than the actual killer. And not only that there was a terrible bug to where you couldn’t stun the killer, that was fixed. Overall, this chapter was not very good it tried to cash in on the K-POP crowd and failed and BHVR is trying so hard to make trickster a success even though they can’t admit they failed.
Mid chapter-4.7.0
I will admit this patch was great, Object of Obsession was finally nerfed to be balanced. Huntress got her addon pass and nerfed her most OP addon and DID NOT touch her base kit thank god, Demogorgon was buffed and got his addons reworked(god rest his soul), Added a new struggle mechanic with skillchecks so you don’t need to break your keyboard or controller trying to stay alive another great change, a bunch of perk buffs that were great and incredible. That’s were the positives stop. The bad part of this patch was Freddy’s and Twins nerf, Victor was nerfed to where his successful pounce cooldown was increased to 5 seconds to try to punish slugging, they didn’t need a nerf but didn’t solve there problem, but they did buff the iridescents. And then there’s Freddy, they nerfed him to the ground to where we don’t see him. It wasn’t bad but it made him even more boring and bland they made his addons terrible and now he’s so boring and unfun on both sides they didn’t fix his problems. Also the coldwin Farms were reworked and they never fixed the issues there still just as bad as they were. This patch aside from Freddy, Twins and coldwin, was great this was the best patch so far.
RESIDENT EVIL-5.0.0
this was the biggest patch of them all, finally the most iconic horror game of all time has finally joined DBD! And it ######### sucked. Don’t get me wrong Nemesis, Leon and Jill were fantastic, they looked amazing. But this patch was a disaster here’s why. First of all this patch introduced RPD the most god awful map in dbd so bad it’s not survivor or killer sided it’s neither sided both sides hate this map. It looks incredible cause it looks like the game but the gameplay is godawful. Not only that you couldn’t even play the ######### map cause it was disabled not once not twice but 3 ######### TIMES!!!(in the span of this year) and it was disabled for 2 whole weeks in the first 5 minutes of this patch so you couldn’t play the map. Then there was a controversy of the cosmetics cause Jill’s classic RE3 outfit had hair that was the same as the default outfit and they charged money when people called them out they made it a set so you were forced to buy the whole thing. This angered people. But that’s not the worst part the worst part of why this patch failed was OPTIMIZATION! This was the update that broke dbd, nobody could play nemesis and Lag spikes and awful freezing kept happening and it was Terrible to play. Nemesis power was alright but you couldn’t even ######### play him cause of the bad lag spikes. In general Nemesis was a pretty good killer not perfect but kind of disappointing Nemesis was watered down to a midranged killer. Even though the AI zombies were a neat innovation there to stupid and RNG they either help or don’t do #########. That’s kinda disappointing. Overall this update was a huge disaster and it was clear it wasn’t ready to be put out.
Mid chapter-5.1.0
This patch was alright, Trickster got a pass on his base kit and addons. While he was buffed they didn’t do it right while the change of having only 6 blade to down was great they didn’t change what made him weak and unfun they nerfed his weaknesses and buffed his strengths. The best part of this patch was the perk No Way Out, they turned a very mediocre perk to now a meta perk that’s being used now. This patch was pretty good trickster was changed not for the good but some things did come out good.
HellRaiser-5.2.0
This was very unexpected, no one was expecting Pinhead from the Hellraiser movies to show up. This patch is interesting, I’ve never seen a patch had so much controversy behind it. The first controversy were the voice lines, in the PTB when pinhead teleports he would talk and say a line from the movie. While it was cool it was memed to hell from people with very dirty minds till the voice lines were eventually removed. People were confused as to why they removed the voice? Even the mods couldn’t answer the question not even the devs. The devs claimed audio bug while others said it was cause it was memed to hard. But the real answer was Licensing. It’s pretty much confirmed it’s a licensing issue. Then there was the biggest controversy of them all that didn’t even come until after this patch, NFT’S. there was a rumor going around that the company that owed the license we’re creating NFTs and BHVR was helping them. They said they never worked on NFT, only to come out and announce they actually were and straight up lied to our face. It was so bad one of the devs said it was very bad and other game companies even called them out on it and people stopped buying and playing pinhead cause of this. Ignoring all of this how is Pinhead. I think he was a very good addition his power his good it’s faithful to the movie and he came with very good perks. But that’s pretty much it this patch was pretty empty cause of only having one character. Overall not a bad killer but a pretty boring and empty chapter.
Hour of the witch-patch 5.3.0
this update was not only the best patch of this year, this was the greatest patch they ever put out. This update introduced Boon Totems, love them or hate them they changed the meta and gave a new perk type to the game. Trapper got the buff he needed and plague was made stronger and much better. A lot of addons were buffed for the better, perks got buffed and changed to be much better, Hatch was changed to be less annoying and keys were changed, they fixed the text of slightly/moderately/considerably. To just numbers, spirit was changed for the better and Pig got her addon rework with pretty good addons. This patch was great it addressed so much and fixed a lot of stuff this game had. The only bad things of this patch was the Slinger nerf which granted he needed those changes but he should have gotten buffs and wraith got a nerf that angered the whole community. but overall this patch was amazing.

the final patch of 2021 how do we end? With a pretty good chapter. We finally got a new original map after a whole year. It’s beautiful looking but not perfect gameplay wise, Artist power is very strong and powerful. But that wasn’t a good thing? It seemed people don’t like her and got tired of her fast. Even I didn’t like her. I think it was because we were tired of the same old Anti loop killer. Her perks were pretty good the new scourge perk is now becoming meta and while the others aren’t as good her perks are pretty good. The survivor isn’t that bad to, his perks are also pretty cool. Overall this chapter was good not the best of them all but a nice way to end 2021.
Conclusion
overall, this was a pretty good year for the game, despite some controversial updates and bad problems, this was a good year. Lots of the stuff that needed fixing was fixed. While there’s still issues that still need to be fixed this was pretty good. I hope the design gets better with killers, the same old anti loop design is getting boring mix it up with new ideas. Try adding new stuff like new gameplay mechanics or make stuff basekit stop playing it safe your a big company go out and beyond. Looking at how this game has evolved since 2016 is remarkable, this might sound controversial but DBD is in its best state. People may disagree but you can’t disagree that DBD was much worse in the past. Let’s end with a chapter ranking if I had to rank the chapters of 2021 it would be

even though I’m not a big fan of the Artist her patch was the best cause it was not buggy no controversies the killer was functioning and it was a chapter. Have a happy new year everyone see you in 2022!!!!!

Hard to disagree with any points here...
if not for bugs RE would probably be my favourite for the added content. Map looks beautiful even though its horrible...
I had such high hopes for the Artists chapter but it got boring fast and I'm not loving many of the new perks.
Don't like All Kill and not even talking about NFT-raiser
