Predictions of 6th Anniversary
I wouldn't be surprised if it's Friday the 13th but with the lawsuits and all, I'm not really sure about it.
What do you think they would release? Is it Chucky? Is it Candyman? Or is it something else in your mind?

I don't think the air's been clear around F13 long enough for Jason to make it in by 6th anniversary. New character pipeline is about a year, IIRC?
I have absolutely no idea, though. Content to just lie back and enjoy the speculation.

While I'd like a Child's Play Chapter, I'd rather it be an original one instead and the devs actually come up with some new, creative mechanics for the anniversary. Stuff like the snowmen would be nice, but more of it and more fair for both roles (snowmen were anything but fair for killers). I dunno what they can do, I'm not a video game developer, but maybe have glyphs on the map so both sides can walk through them and get speed boosts or temporary invisibility or something. Just want the game to feel interesting for a change.

Do we always had a license for each anniversary? I'd like original stuff.
4 -
Hoping for xenomorph but not getting my hopes up.

Well F13 air is finally over so theirs finally a chance we get the property over here. I honestly would rather have a K vs K vs S match with the killers competing for most kills in the match before time is up. A freddy vs jason can happen if done right.

It will break the game.

We had really good licenses this year: Resident Evil, Hellraiser and The Ring. Anniversary chapters are best licenses usually. My list for anniversary: Chucky, Jason, Pennywise, Scooby-Doo.
I have hope for one of them.
3 -
Ryan's World.
3 -
I'm hoping for an Alien chapter
5 -
Wasn't there some speculation about a Predator chapter because they wanted to reimagine the original movie? Honestly that would be awesome, same as a Xenomorph.

I won't be surprised if the anniversary has a big license reveal, that's usually how it works. Could be anybody, but the three or four top contenders I can think of might be
- Alien - This would be a huge license to get, and would be a great replacement for Demogorgon to fill the animalistic predatory humanoid carnivorous killer
- Jason - It's no secret they actively want this license, and now that the IP is apparently freed up a bit who knows?
- Pennywise - Again, a big license to get and one I think they'd love to have. It's not clear how he'd work mechanically, but there are plenty of ideas out there on it so it's far from an insurmountable obstacle.
- Springtrap from Five Nights at Freddy's - I've never played the game, but I know there's a really loyal group of fans who want this killer in the game. And it's certainly a popular video game license.
Some other licenses that I think would be fun but I'm skeptical would be picked up
- Chucky - Chucky is a great bad guy, but I just don't know how they'd do it mechanically. Victor is in the ballpark of a really tiny killer, with Chucky it would be playing as Victor all the time. They'd have to work up new hook animations or something, since obviously he can't hook people using the usual animation, and I have no idea what his ability would actually be. 🤷♂️ If he shows up, great! But I have trouble seeing how.
- Phantasm - The Tall Man from Phantasm who runs the mortuary with sinister steel flying pinballs of doom. He's be a great killer in this game, he's got the look and an ability that fits right in mechanically. And he's a cult film fan favorite. I can maybe see him maybe getting picked up someday, but Phantasm just isn't a big enough title I don't think for an anniversary release.
- Final Destination - This one is a pipe dream of mine. Play a "killer" which is actually an invisible avatar that is capable of manipulating the environment and props to kill survivors. It would be a tough construction mechanically so I doubt it would ever happen, but boy could it be fun if they figured out a way to do this type of killer!
- Supernatural - This is an IP I'd love to see in the game. Winchesters as survivors, a Demon as a killer, The Bunker as a map. The thing is I suspect that if the license holders were interested in cutting a deal with DbD they might have done it already, the show was actually still on the air when DbD came out and they had plenty of time to work it out. Now that it's off the air and there's no particular buzz for the show I'm sadly doubtful it would ever get picked up. 🙁
- The Thing - A shapeshifting killer that can mimic survivors and do really creepy attacks, etc, could be pretty cool. Mimicking a survivor on its own sounds like something a swf would defeat, but when you consider that being a mimic implies persistent Undetectability (because obviously you have no red stain or terror radius while disguised as a survivor) that alone would give the killer a nice effect to play with. Basically that's half of Ghostface's kit all on its own! They'd just need to find something else as a good secondary ability to beef the killer up. Either way, though, the chances of the license being picked up are already a bit slim, and then top it off with questions of how to do it justice mechanically and I don't see it happening. (But I still hold out hope for a mimic killer someday, albeit maybe an original one!)
- Jeepers Creepers - The killer could fit in well, but I hear that IP is a legal nightmare. Seriously doubt it will ever happen.
- Slender Man - I could see this being picked up someday maybe? I don't know how big a name it is as a license.
- Candyman - They've had a few opportunities to pick up Candyman and it hasn't happened so far. And they missed the window with the Candyman film in 2021, that would have been the optimal time to do a deal with that character.
- A Quiet Place - Another contender to replace Demogorgon, the aliens from A Quiet Place definitely fit the part in terms of their look and theme. Seems like it would be a longshot to get the license though maybe.
- Dracula - Dracula or any similar vampire killer could be cool. That being said, it feels like if they had wanted a vampire they would have done one already, they certainly wouldn't need the Dracula license from Universal to do it.
- Carrie - I could almost see Carrie being in this game. She sort of fits the same broad theme as Spirit, a young woman who was wronged and is lashing out in anger. Telekinetic attacks obviously would be the mechanic. Could be interesting but feels like a long shot as a license.
- Evil Dead - They've already got Ash from Evil Dead, so they have an in. But who would the killer be? A generic zombie or whatever wouldn't cut it. And I don't even remember who the recurring bad guy from the show would be (Lucy Lawless I think was a heavy?) Also I suspect if they were going to do an Evil Dead related killer they would have done it simultaneously with Ash.
- Dead Silence - Or really any evil ventriloquist and their dummy. The Twins already kind of fill this genre though, even if Victor isn't dressed in a tuxedo. 🤷♂️
- Predator - Certainly fits the bill in terms of hunting people down as trophies. Seems pretty overpowered as a killer though for the theme, if they ever brought him in the Entity would have to clip his claws a bit.

i think the idea you have for final destination could apply to uzumaki as well, like you're controlling the curse of the spiral or something like that
0 -
Not that this would happen, but rather than a licence I'd like an original chapter with a deep connection to the central lore, but then on top of that introduce a few new maps, rather than just one.
1 -
They could do Chucky by allowing you to play as Jennifer Tilly or Nica as a basic M1 killer to hook survivors and then transfer control between various Chucky dolls a la Twins to get downs. Maybe they could even be controlled by AI when you're not in one like Nemesis' zombies, so you'd never know where the killer really was.
There are lots of ways they could do Chucky. He's my favorite, so I hope they figure it out.
I also want Candyman, and I desperately want Dracula. The 1931 Bela Lugosi version would be ideal, but the original novel and films like Nosferatu have been in the public domain forever.
Jeepers Creepers also has extreme controversy over the fact that the original filmmaker is a convicted child molester, and a lot of people wouldn't want anything to do with DBD if they cut him in.
I do think it's important to note that the kid he molested publicly forgave him as an adult, said that he did his time, he doesn't expect us to boycott the guy's movies for his sake, and that we all officially have his permission to enjoy Jeepers Creepers. At the same time, that stigma is going to hang around the franchise forever.
If any IP is a mess, it's Slenderman.
Evil Dead could use that one demon who briefly appeared in the third or fourth episode of the TV series confined in a circle in the bookstore. He was cool.
The Thing and Pennywise would be awesome.

I assumed Jason was guranteed, but with Ringu coming out next, it might be an original, to be honest. Unless they just scrapped the idea of having a balance between licensed and original killers.

@dugman you got some pretty awesome ideas.
I especially like the Quiet Place and Final Destination.
Quiet place could work a bit like Spirit, ie you see the grayed out world without survivors, but walking around and especially running or any rushed actions will send noticeable waves out and color the world around them, including survivors. Playing the killer will introduce a few tin buckets and noisy "traps" on the map that can be used to send out fake positives or stun the killer if he stands right next yo one of these.
One idea of mine would be
Re-Animator or classic Necromancer. He can summon and direkt Zombies, but can't directly damage a survivor with his sacrificial dagger/puss syringe, unless a zombie holds the survivor in its sleeper hold.
The second ability would be some kind of ranged debuff like a curse, maybe this hinders the survivor or attracts all zombies on the map to them, but therefore lessening the pressure on the other survivors.

I have to correct some of this statement.
No, the kid Victor Salva molested is apparently still not happy with the guy, and there have been some pretty public statements about it even recently: https://celebrityinsider.org/nathan-forrest-winters-releases-statement-as-convicted-pedophile-victor-salvas-jeepers-creepers-3-gets-new-release-date-324782/
I was confused because he did say in a different statement that he's not trying to stop Victor from making movies or Victor's fans from enjoying said movies and that he was not involved in the anti-Jeepers Creepers boycott in any capacity, but he does want people to know the truth about what happened: https://www.screengeek.net/2017/08/31/victor-salva-sexual-abuse-victim-comments-on-jeepers-creepers-3-protest/
So apparently "forgiveness" was a bit strong of a word to use here, but he did give us the green light to enjoy Salva's movies.

- That's a pretty interesting thought on Quiet Place. One way to kind of fit it into the existing system a bit is the Creature sees survivor's auras within a radius of itself based on how much noise they're making. The more noise they make the farther away the Creature can see the survivor's aura. They similarly could have an innate sense of the progress of the generators based on the sound since louder generators make more noise. Add in a Lunge like Demogorgon's and maybe some sort of out of chase style sprint for map traversal and it's sounding pretty good maybe! 😄 (No pun intended.)
- It's funny, I actually thought about Re-Animator when I was thinking about licenses, but I couldn't really think of a way to do it. Nemesis kind of has zombies already, and they're ok for scouting but not really much of a threat beyond that. If you want a true pet based killer they'd have to be significantly smarter and faster or whatever. I guess if they ever get around top putting in bots like they have in DbD Mobile then maybe they could use a variant of the bot AI for a pet killer too, kill two birds with one stone so to speak.

I don’t know about the sixth anniversary, but I’d love for them to throw us a Gremlin next Christmas.
Or several Gremlins sharing a trench coat.

I honestly love our take on A Quiet Place, that concept sounds like so much fun and actually somewhat viable, but who knows what BHVR has planned for he foreseeable future?

I think anything other than Jason will be a disappointment for the 6th year chapter. I don't even like the movies but the series the only one big enough for the anniversary.
Reasons why I believe these killers aren't big enough:
- Chucky - Just can't work in dbd. Just can't imagine them creating a good Chucky character.
- Predator - Doesn't feel big enough tbh. I have a few reasons but I find it hard to explain.
- Pennywise - 2 years too late.
- Candyman - Not big enough, even with the new movie.
I'd happily take these chapters in the future, just not for an anniversary.
The only 2 contenders I think that feel big enough otherwise are Alien or FNAF. I know people hate FNAF but the series is still releasing lots of games, books and even a movie soon. Everyone has heard of FNAF in the gaming sphere, and soon so will the movie audience. You don't need to like it but you can't deny it's still going strong.
The reason I think Alien is big enough, but not Predator is because of the design of Alien and the different abilities that it could have. Think most people will find Alien more exciting than Predator.

There are only 2 anniversaries not to feature a licensed chapter.
Year 1 Anniversary which didn't have a chapter, it was in between Chapter IV: Spark of Madness and Chapter V: A Lullaby for the Dark
and Year 2 Anniversary which gave us Chapter VIII: Curtain Call
The other 3 anniversaries came out with licensed chapters and they'd probably keep that up.
Outside of that, I agree. We had 3 licenses this year, I wouldn't mind if the anniversary was original.

Snowmen werent fair nor unfair for most killers. The only 2 exceptions were Ghostface and Twins. Every other killer at the very least gained distance on the survivors. Let alone that on some killers, it was super beneficial.

I know in the past they HAVE done original content for the anniversary's but, ever since they've made a big deal about it, they've been licensed properties. So, I think this is going to be no different and, another thing, since the two last years have been video game properties and have been VERY successful, I really think they'll be doing that for a third time. I have three VG IP's that I think could be up for it. In order they probably go.
- Dead Space- Since the Dead Space franchise is getting kicked back up with quite a big remake and it's not going to have multiplayer of any sort, I could see EA making a deal with BHVR to have a bit of cross promotion. The big issue is, well, EA. EA is known to be straight up asshats when it comes to working with others and they are insanely greedy. To add onto that, BHVR and EA have no previous track record of working together at all so it's much harder to make connections that way.
- The Evil Within- I know there is hype behind this idea but it's not as strong as some other options but, simply put, it would probably be easier to get then quite a few options. Since BHVR have worked with Capcom already and there are still people working there with connections to Shinji Mikami(original creator of RE) they probably have a quick way to get in touch with Shinji. Getting the OK with him and Bethesda and now Microsoft is a 100% different story. Especially since they'd have to talk about making it multiple platform with Microsoft which, they seem mostly fine with, Sony, however, probably wouldn't like the idea of a now Microsoft owned IP splitting even more of the profits then it would've with just BE owning the IP. It's a lot of murky water around it but, who knows, the world of licensing is a strange one.
- Five Night's at Freddy's- A lot probably saw this coming but, I really think FNAF has it's biggest chance of being the anniversary chapter then ever. It's coming off of it's biggest game ever with a completely new design for Afton, the backing behind it is gigantic, the amount of demand going around at the time of Chapter 21's release was probably way too loud for both parties to not hear and, the biggest thing is, it would make a TRUCKLOAD of money, just like how the last two video game anniversary chapters did.
That's just some of my thoughts though, at this point, who knows. I just REALLY hope that they don't reveal it multiple months ahead of time like they've done with quite a few of the recent licensed chapters. Just takes so much of the fun out of anticipation because there's zero speculation.

Do you hope Ring chapter sucks?

Damn, I always like to see another person who dives in deep when it comes to licenses. Big ups from me and, yeah, I gotta be 100% honest, I fully agree with you on Candyman. Do I think He's still a possibility? Yup, I do, but, there were some pretty obvious times in which I think a Candyman chapter would've fit and made a lot of sense but, it just never happened. Oh and also, you might know already but, Predator is also currently going through the same legal court battle that F13 went through so, that dampens it quite a bit, however, they are also making a new movie to keep the copyright in check so, who knows, the Predator franchise is in a weird spot right now. :/

TBH I dont care about licensed killers or original killers right now because of the state of the game and state of Survivor personality. If the new Killer is a Anti loop killer all Survivors will wine and complain that they are too OP and will just pre-drop pallets and hold w be will start again, if it's not a anti loop killer then the killers will be held at a disadvantage because of map layouts.
Map balance needs to be the priority but sadly BHVR doesn't care about that just pump out as many new Killers and Survivors to get money.
Would I love to see some of these Killers brought into the game.......HECK YEA, a Xeno would be a awesome addition but sadly I can't get too invested due to the current state of the game.

An alien vs predator chapter to announce 2 killer mode

Honestly, if BHVR got a license from Konami then I don't think getting one from EA is too implausible. Companies with long histories of bad decisions seem drawn to each other for whatever reason.

Savage. But you aint wrong.

I have a strange feeling that we will see a Child’s Play chapter for something like an anniversary chapter.

They need an iconic killer, an iconic survivor (or two) and a new map. They only thing incan think of for that would be Alien, with the Xenomorph, Ripley and the Nostromo. Or IT, with Pennywise, maybe two of the kids (Beverly for sure, then perhaps Bill or Richie) and a sewers map.
