“ Fixed some specific vulnerabilities that could be abused by cheaters”???
What exactly does this mean? Is it minor or is it potentially something significant that will lower the population of cheaters in Dbd?

You don't really want them to be too open about what it is they're doing, the longer any given hacker has to take to figure out how to overcome their security the better.

So long as it's a successful fix then I don't want to know the specifics, because if I can read what they've done then so too can a hacker, and then the whole problem goes back to how it was again.

Combating cheating, and cheating, are an always escalating arms race.
You have to be as vague as possible when announcing 'we are fixing it', because the more details cheaters have, the easier they can counter your fixes.

The important thing for the community here is that they are actually looking into things regarding the cheater epidemic!

Depending how well this works is the difference between a somewhat lackluster patch to a great patch.
I would gladly deal with CoH for a couple of months longer if it means i won't run into cheaters anymore

There is nothing further we can or will add to this, for reasons that have been explained above.
It's not our practice to discuss what actions we are taking to prevent cheating - we don't want the cheaters to get advance notice of things etc.
It's difficult, we are aware, of course we're aware but we're very limited on what we can say for the reason that I just explained.
I know that's not what many of you want to hear and I'm sorry about that, but I really cannot give further information.

I just hope cheater wont be able to keep the game hostage anymore. I know they wont be able to fix the hacker issue because its impossible whitout a good anti cheat and i dont think they want to invest in a good anti cheat.

I understand the need to avoid divulging specifics and avoid giving ideas for new hacks, but can you verify or deny that vulnerabilities include the whole DDOS thing? Ii would be nice to know if I still have to spend 10 bucks a months to be able to play the game or not.

As long as this game has harsh penalties for players that are wedged out of a match. It gives the naughty side of the internet incentive to disrupt the game. It keeps most of us from even wanting to log into the game and roll the dice. Especially as a killer. I haven't really even bothered to log in and play anymore. Just because If a survivor is mad at me, they have a chance to DOS my connection, knock my connection out and then get penalized for their actions.
Everything in the world of computers can and always will be exploited, as long as more than one computer "talks" over a public or Wifi Network.
With the current network protocols we have, as an end-user society. DOS will always be an issue, and until someone can write an entirely new Network protocol. It always will remain an issue. That level of education required to figure that out, is MIT, Harvard and Cambridge-international education, and more.

Thats what i don't get... to prevent a "advance notice". I wouldn't be surprised if it was just for save injecting and not the actual cheater problem. Cause with this games anticheat it is INCREDIBLY easy to bypass unless they make a live match report system where "X player has moved X amount of speed for X amount of time" or "this player worked on a gen at abnormally fast speeds while solo".

@MandyTalk You know, maybe it would help a lot players, when the reportsystem BHVR uses be easier. Do Screenshot - Clips - send this to a site - make this do this and this one ..... it takes so much work reporting them -especially if you dont stream and have a vod or stuff like this. I know there are many tickets and it takes time to check them and make the work. The thing is - this isn´t the problem of the players that there are so many cheaters around at this time. Another problem what i see is that you run sometimes after a short amount of time in the same "players" again and see that they aren´t banned or punished. Its very frustrating for the players that really like the game and spend much time/money/afford in this and trying to support as much as they can, seeing no progress.
Really it is totally understandable, that during the holidays everything goes slower - work get more but the people who work at bhvr and do awnsering the tickets and do work on it want spend their time with the family - thats really totally fine. Maybe you need more People or lets call it Gamemasters. I know its not up to you deciding this @MandyTalk but maybe you can talk to your bosses about this concern.
At the end i wish everyone a great 2022 :)

I'm going to assume it's related to getting peoples IP's since streamers are constantly getting ddosed. It could also fix revealing killer's name/steam for streamsniping. It's worded in a way that it could also mean they're actually making use of DS to validate more stuff to prevent cheaters doing the impossible.

I just decided to take a break until they announce a resolution to this problem because I'm not getting a VPN for a single game. Saw this note and came back on here hoping to see any news on it. Hopefully they announce something soon
