Best Freddy Build and viability?

Hey all. Today I accumulated 1 million Bloodpoints to max out Freddy as my next Killer. I always like trying to make lower tier characters work at high level in any game. But Freddy is appearing particularly difficult. I haven't dropped from Rank 1, but I feel my games could be going much better.

Hence, does anyone have good advice for a Freddy build? I've currently been using an end-game build. Remember Me+NOED+Blood Warden and Sloppy Butcher. But it hasn't felt like this build has been working, I can't get enough people in the Dream World to REALLY slow that exit gate powering hugely. Though I haven't been patrolling the exits that harshly, either. Maybe that's it.

Anyways, is there generally a better build? A method of playing? I currently just tunnel the Obession to start with, then go find another target until they're unhooked and healed. Any advice would be welcome.

There was quite some discussions some time ago, i had a small serious guide here on this meme thread on page 4 and 5.

(This thread makes me sad, the forum just isn't what it used to be)

    Here is another decent guide.

Also the Pyrus has a good guide on Freddys dream transition, i dont have a link but you should find it easily.

I use his addon that makes all survivor auras visible while someone is in the dream transition paired with the yellow dress. For perks, I use Remember Me, Dying Light, No One Escapes Death, and Monitor and Abuse. This means you will have to tunnel the obsession (and make sure you get 6 hits on them.) If you can sacrifice the obsession and get 6 hits on them before the last gen in completed, you have won. It takes over a full minute for the exit gates to be opened and in that time you will know where all survs are and be able to one shot down them due to NOED. Be sure you keep everyone in the dream as much as possible qithout letting the obsession get away.

Late game freddy relying on blood Warden is basically the only way to play Freddy. When I was getting him to 50 so I could get blood Warden for my late game piggy build. Blood Warden, NOED and Remember me are essential and most of the time the only way I got kills. It's the only viable tactic I could find for him and it usually got 3 kills. The last perk I mixed up alot but if you have Make Your Choice or ruin as a teachable, I'd recommend that as your fourth perk to make end game a bit easier.

    1. NOED
    2. Blood Warden
    3. Remember Me
    4. Ruin, MYC, Bitter Murmur. Or any perk really.

The most powerful build I've come up with I call Dream Catcher: Ruin, Haunted Grounds, Dying Light, Play With Your Food, Class Photo, Z Block. Also you should bring a green or pink mori to at least kill the obsession but it's not exactly necessary except against SWF.

When the game starts just find someone, anyone, and sleep them. CP adds 2 seconds to transition, while ZB removes that penalty. You will appear as a "normal" or "baby" Freddy to survivors because the transition is 7 seconds. CP will reveal auras of EVERYONE when someone transitions, so if you find 1 you find them all. Now that you see where the others are, go sleep them. You are looking for the obsession, when you find them take the chase and get them to a hook. If they are a good obsession, get 3 tokens of PWYF (easy as Freddy) and they won't be able to loop you. Ruin is there to slow down the game enough for you to catch the obsession, and HG is there to protect Ruin a bit and give you a one shot you can use on the obsession. Once you get them on a hook, WALK AWAY so someone saves them. Remember you have CP so you should always be able to find them. When they get saved, come back to the hook, tunnel down the obsession and mori them. You should be able to kill them, without the mori, before the team can take down Ruin and finish 2 gens. At this point you won the game. DL triggers and slows them down IMMENSELY, now all you need to do is keep them all slept all the time with CP. Take chases when it's best for you. They will never finish gens.

No group has escaped this build. Before I optimized it with HG and PWYF, I had 1 group of 3 escape because they had a really good obsession that ran all game (still got him at the end though). But he wouldn't be able to run now that I use these perks, he would have gone down very quickly and died early.

Might be wondering "why not Black Box if using Dying Light?" Well it's way too much of a tell. That one guy that ran all game, back then I used BB and he knew IMMEDIATELY to start looping me because he knew what I was doing. Plus BB only effect is starting them in DW. If they wake up it was a waste. CP + ZB is way WAY more powerful than BB, and you can find the obsession faster than any other killer and DISCRETELY. Most of the time when you sleep someone and walk away they don't think much of it, especially if they see 7 second transition. By the time the survivors figure out your build, obsession should be dead and they should all realize they are going to die and there is no escape.

Wrong. Late game Freddy is actually a huge risk. Freddy is way more effective at gen lockdown, because survivors can't do gens when they are asleep. If you do builds that make it hard to wake up or keep them slept a lot and play for 3 gen lockdown, he is really strong. Almost as strong as Doc at it. Being at the gates with Freddy is like the last place you want to be.

This is a more traditional killer build. Ambush freddy. You run block add ons whatevers on hand to reduce dream transition so you can hopefully start the chase with a hit. From there you should spread damage to any nearby survivours before commiting to a survivour chase.

Perks wise you want save the best for last. Dont be afraid to hit the obssesion tho. Then sloppy butcher so when you ambush em again you can knock em down without an additional health state to worry about. Ruin because you want to slow the game down just a little bit. Bbq or bambozle last perk. This is mainly so you don't get stuck on obnoxious killer loops although you can mindgame some areas if the survivour is not to vigilant.  Bbq is just good for farming and freddy is high bp gain killer so its worth considering the long range map inforamtion is great too.

Again dont be afraid to spread out damage and drop chases if another survivour is out of position. Espiciallly if the one your chasing is a good looper. Your power gives you a lot of long distance map information so dont be afraid to take advantage of it.

On hook defense a common weakness for freddy you need to be tagging rescuers as they are coming for the save dont hang close to the hook. If you can successfully intercepts rescuers you can tag and track survivours and switch targets dependant on how close other survivours are to the hook. If a survivours is in dream state you can track survivours out of your terror radius. If they still go for unhooks hit the rescuer and knock the unhooked survivor down. Dont let survivours think they can get free unhooks as you will lose a lot of momentum and as freddy getting that momentum is harder then most other killers.

Dont be too afraid to give the survivours a chance if there pallet game is weak tho. This hook defense strategy method is primarily built to overcome his hook defense weakness and maximise his power effectiveness against strong teams or excellent survivours.

If you wanna be a toxic freddy and just play with your survivors try this build as it can be the quickest game or you can make this game last as long as you want

    Perks
    BBQ
    BITTER MURMUR
    NURSES CALLING
    POP GOES WHEEZLE

    Add ons
Any that slows down skill checks and reduces dream transition

That's just my 2nd outta 3 builds for Freddy if I wanna play with the survivors as from either the first gen or first hook the game only lasts for as long as you let it play out

Sloppy is disgustingly good on Freddy.

Rancor, save the best, monitor & abuse, nurses calling

Slug/ignore the obsession to build up wipe speed, altruistic teams speed this up and perks help to monitor them at any range. Focus down the other 3 and if they do pop the last gen, free kill for your pet slug.
