Hex Hooks
Greetings and salutations. First time poster, long time lurker.
I know there have already been many discussions between Hex and Boon totems. From the perspective of a killer, it sucks to just lose a perk outright while survivors can relight if they choose to. I also understand the survivor counter that Hexes in their current forms would be rough to deal with if they could be restored.
I'm curious to see what players and devs would think of the idea of moving Hexes to hooks. Totems would purely be a survivor mechanic if they choose to use them.
Hex Hook Functionality: Hooks can respawn over time so keeping Hexes in their current form wouldn’t work. To that end, what if all Hexes were moved to a token system much like Devour Hope functions. Tokens could build up at intervals over the length of the match or be triggered on an action such as hooking. Regardless, if a hook respawns it would start at one token with the weakest stage of the Hex and would need to build up again.
Identifying Hex Hooks: Currently, Hex totems are easily identifiable due to their glow but have their small status to help hide them. Hooks are large and easy to see. My suggestion would be to have an identifying line of runes on the pole of the hook. These could be spotted if you’re next to a hook and look at it but could be easily missed if you’re in a chase and running right by it. There could be perks and addons to help/hinder visibility much like scratch marks for survivors.
Destroying Hex Hooks: Sabotaging is already a mechanic in the game so destroying a hook like you do a totem can already be done. Move sabotage to an action that survivors can just do without any perks or addons. This would open up the question as to how long a cooldown sabotaging should have and how long it should take to finish destroying a hook. Time could be modified with perks and addons.
There’s likely a bunch of stuff I haven’t thought of and this idea may not work at all but I just wanted to throw it out there for others to see.

Something like this would be amazing for the game I feel. Hexes are far too reliant on RNG which is really lame. They need to be toned down a bit and then act more consistently instead of having random spawns.

That's a playstyle preference, some people like the high risk/reward idea of the current Hex system. Sure, Devour Hope isn't likely to get 5 tokens for instance, but when it does it's awesome.
Some people don't mind a bit of luck in their perks, others don't want any. Which is fine, the people who don't like Hexes have plenty of other perks to choose from.

It could be made into a Scourge Hook perk which rekindles a Hex, but your idea of having a specific hook for rekindling a Hex does sound interesting!
Yeah, I'd be for it!

Dont like the idea at all. It wouldnt fix or help the current situation, its the equivalent of simply doubling up the totem spawns on maps which is bad for both sides.
You are missing an important factor: RElighting the boons takes survivors off from generators, if they dont have a medkit or selfcare they will either look for other teammates to heal or search for a totem to bless, which again is a time loss.
I would much more prefer they randomize the totem spawns more in more hidden places rather than introduce another thing that isnt even a fix just a temporary bandaid.
