Need to vent. (Flashlights in particular)
Had roughly 3 games with 2 or more survivor with friends and how much that impacted each game is simply astounding.
2 games i had where i was picking up a survivor facing a wall, like directly in front of it and still get blinded with the flashlight user out of view. Even one game i got blinded through a shack wall, how is this a thing when you can't even move during pick up animation? It's just frustrating.
Not much i could do while chasing one person, another is close behind me and if i switch to the guy behind, the other takes his role. If i slug, they have unbreakable or soul guard, Along with other meta perks. Meanwhile the others are slamming gens left right and center, even if i go target them.
Why does this game not have an official tournament setting that people can opt into? That if friend's group up they're automatically placed into that mode instead of solo queue. It's what most games would do, and to create incentive, have outfits and cosmetics tied to tournament rankings for both sides. Instead of forcing people to play against premades where the likely result is bullying being the goal.

Since I don't know the whole picture and I didn't see the game myself I can't really comment on that. What I can say how ever is Flashlights are probably the weakest item a Survivor can bring, all you need to do as killer is angle yourself in awkward positions and you can pretty much avoid any blind. Also you're risking precious gen time to go for that Flashlight save, and if you don't succeed that's even more time wasted.
As for the tourney setting/gamemode. It wouldn't work, even with incentives like cosmetics you would have people complain that cosmetics are locked behind a gamemode, and if you make it something like a charm then no one would give a damn. I was for this sort of thing but just thinking about it makes me realize that it doesn't benefit any one.
SWF groups whose intentions are to bully the killer wouldn't go there either since a good killer can deal with those sort of things. And if you force SWF's to go into this mode they would simply snipe themselves in Solo Q lobbies.

Because almost every killer would queue up against solos for near guaranteed stomps, and people would never get to play with their friends, because this game isn't nearly balanced or fun enough at the highest level for 99.9% of people to even consider a tournament mode.
Let's actually balance the game before we split it in half so you don't actually have to go against SWF.

If you are truly facing a wall, you won't get blinded. If you're too far back and there's enough of a gap, or you're off center, or if there are holes in the wall you can still get blinded. Flashlights are the weakest items survivors can bring, and you should be glad to see multiples of them in the lobby.
If you dislike them enough you can always just bring Lightborn so that the people with flashlights sit on gens instead of trying to go for cocky saves.

I've been blinded playing killer by survivors I'm not even looking at. That doesn't make sense, shining a flashlight behind someone will not effect them. Shining a flashlight beside someone who's not looking at you will not effect them. but for some reason in this game it's a thing.

Keys are the weakest item.

I got blinded by a survivor on one of the roofs in Haddonfild once while picking up a survivor on the street.
It irritated the hell out of me but kudos to him cause it was a super juicy save.

Nah.
Keys are insurance for the end-- they don't make you actively play like an idiot the whole match.
..not usually, at least.

This might sound silly, and it's purely speculation on my part, but I think if you face a wall and immediately pick up a survivor, there's some server desync and the game makes it so you're not fully facing the wall because you picked up too quickly. I had this happen frequently, and then I started facing the wall, waiting a second or two, and then picking up and I stopped getting so many out of frame blinds. I genuinely think there's a desync issue that makes the server, and survivor not see you as actually facing the wall.

When taking in factor add ons? Absolutely not.
Blood Amber giving 15 seconds (22.5 if you bring in Prayer Beads) is pretty damn good. It also has the bonus of allowing you a different method of escape even if the hatch has been closed.

Absolutely. I see flashlight saves about every 3 games and god forbid you have 2 people really good at flashlights, they can get instablinds. Not to mention how good flashlights are for chases.

Flashlight saves mean that at least 2 Survivors were involved, and that also means they werent on gens. And if you have 2 Survivors going for insta blinds, they are not on gens and the killer can still react to it. The most perfect timing they can get is if they blind the killer at the same time, being a .5 seconds blind. Sure it might work the first time but afterwards the killer should be on the look out for these things
Also, blinding in chase (more specifically at a pallet) is only a last resort when youre stuck in a dead zone and you some how have to get pass the killer. Unless you have Iron Will the killer can still hear you, as well as your footsteps al though those are a bit unreliable/inconsistent.

Lightborn is top tier. If they want to flash your ears, you don't drop them. Streamers are proving you do not need slowdown to win games, you just need a bag of marshmallows and the determination to kill that one fruitcake with the glowing outfit before you hook anyone else. Ez.

People desperately going for flashlight saves aren't doing gens and can get punished for it, and people blinding in chase aren't making distance while you can just follow their footsteps.

I'm usually more the save the best for last guy.
Even though, whole teams can throw the match by trying to save that one teammate.
You just have to identify who it is, before it's to late.

The off screen flashligts is probably because of the extremely low fov killers have, desync also a big factor. Blinding through tiny gaps requires quite the setup and precision so its probably the ranking system placing you with better survivors than you should go against
