Why is chase detection so wonky?

LIterally had a huntress following me for 2 minutes but no chase music until the last 5 seconds when she downed me. What gives?

    huntress has a perk where she gets the "undetectable" status effect after gaining bloodlust, as well as an "undetectable" add-on. that may be what happened. regardless i do agree that chase detection is sometimes wonky.
