Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Tunneling can get you banned, report function can be used for malicious purposes

Got a ban for a day right before the weekend, was really surprised because it was my first ban ever in this game throughout 2000+ hours of gaming. Nevertheless, I've contacted the support to understand the reason (maybe I did something ban worthy after all).

Apparently there were 2 reasons for a ban, first I was ''working with the opposite team to gain an advantage or griefing teammates''. I have no idea what does this mean. Does an unintentional body block during a killer chase count as one ? Or perhaps being one of the two left survivors while the other one is bleeding out on the floor and not helping him (to get a hatch) while the killer is drooling for a 4k counts as griefing ? Or perhaps pointing a killer the locker where Claudette was hiding for the entire game counts as one? Can a missed skill check count as one ? I genuinely do not know and it seems anything can go in here.

The second reason was ''targeting specific users repeatedly in order to ruin their game experience'' aka tunneling. This is straight up BS because the FAQ specifically states tunneling is not the reason for a ban.

On the same ticket I politely asked to provide any proof of me ''griefing'' but the person responding didn't want to have any more of it and marked the ticket from open to solved and that's the end of the story.

Let me tell you what I think happened. I've went against a sweaty SWF a couple of times in a row, whooped their a**, to mess up with me they've all reported me for whatever reason they could and the automatic system flagged my account for the reasons mentioned above. If this is the case then it means no one is safe and can potentially be targeted by malicious group of people if they don't like your style of gameplay. I believe the game doesn't store any replays and the ban system COMPLETELY relies on the report function and the amount of report you get.

Moral of the story ? If people don't like you, you can get banned and DBD staff won't do jack about it.
