Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

When Playing Killer, I Stringently Believe Level Selection is Influenced by MMR, as Well

Hi All,

Just venting a bit about level selections when I play certain Killers. I main Trapper, and generally, I expect some good variance of maps as I play. This past weekend during Bloodrush, and in general for the most part, I noticed a few things about my experience regarding maps while playing Trapper (I need to note that I 'win' according to BVHR's standard [60% hooks] often, which also influences my thought process):

  • In maps without Offerings, I was overwhelmingly placed in maps with minimal grass or larger maps with more difficult trap placements. My general experience was a rotation of Ormond, The Game, Lery's, Ormond, Eyrie, any map with ACTUAL grass, then back to Ormond. It is not uncommon for me to get Ormond, The Game, or Lery's twice in a row.
  • In maps with favorable settings (good grass, 3 gen setups, etc.), Survivors felt more difficult to play against. They were often optimal in their play.
  • Wins are often challenging, which is not problematic, but there is some fatigue that comes into play when you arrive in either a map with nothing favorable for your character, or your opponents are consistently playing at a level that begins to wear you down.
  • As Survivor, I IMMEDIATELY saw levels that I did not see playing Trapper. This ENTIRE WEEK, I never got any version of the Macmillan Estate playing Trapper unless it was a Survivor offering. This was the oddest part of my week playing Trapper, because I switched to other Killers and played Survivor games, and almost always immediately saw maps my Trapper did not.

These are the experiences that lead me to believe that maps consider MMR and do so at an amount that is frustrating to the point where I do not believe it is coincidental. These levels that make playing Trapper difficult appear far too often in my map rotation and other maps appear much more often when I play other Killers. I want to note that this is not a Survivor issue, but a system issue, and I am sticking to it. I'm still going to play Trapper, but at this time I wouldn't doubt that the system is trying to make it more difficult for me to 'win' games by any means necessary.

I actually agree and believe this as well. My most played killer is Nurse. Probably my highest MMR? Who knows.

I estimate well over half of my Nurse games over the last month have been on Haddonfield or Lerys when no offerings are played. I've been sent to Haddonfield 3 times in a row on Nurse without offerings in play.

Don't you just love your 3rd game in a row on Lery's as Pinhead?
