Long Queue suggestion

So i was watching the recent Q & A and one thing mentioned was that they would do is look into forum suggestions about long queue waits. Well I have an idea to make waiting a little more bearable. After waiting a certain amount of time you get awarded an amount of bloodpoints. After each subsequent minute after that you get more (but a significantly lower amount afterwards. With this in play patient players who wait to play their chosen role for a longer period of time will at least be given something for their investment. It's not going to prevent long waits but I think it will be easier and more accepted than games with bot killer/survivers. What do you all think?

    They've talked about doing that

I have zero idea why they haven't actually done that. I can't imagine it's hard to input something to the effect of "if Role A has a X minute wait and Role B is instant, make it so that if people play Role B they get X free BP/X% extra BP for playing that side".

I have no idea if it would actually fix as it would be a band-aid over someone's bloody stump where their leg was before stepping in The Trapper's sneaky traps but some kind of baby steps have to be taken at some point...

It would be nice, but I don't know if it would change anything. Overwatch gives a lootbox and gold for playing the tank role and its still the most in demand role across multiple ranks.

Though, overwatch is has nothing on the dbd grind. But if people don't find something fun, very rarely can you pay them to play it.

They probably have a similar stance as awarding BP for vsing swfs which is they want to solve the root problem. Which is fine but like... Please do it soon.

The value of the gold is far less, however. I have 120k extra myself and I do not even play that much anymore, and really haven't since the 5th anniversary of Dead by Daylight. I still get every skin, though, because, you know, I can afford them.

To be fair, there are people like that in DBD who are caught up with the grind. But Overwatch hasn't had content in like 2 years. So mostly anyone playing regularly has literally no use whereas even the regulars here might want some items and add ons to replenish their stock.

But your concept isn't going to solve the problem. We have not enough killer players so they should award you for playing killer not for waiting as a survivor

Well the lack of killers only appears to be a problem at night at least where i'm from. If I try playing killer in the morning or the afternoon it takes an eternity. During the night killer players are very rare. An attempt, but not helpful attempt i've seen is making more killer daily rituals. It has to be intentional. I have more survivors and survivors have generic rituals. I personally hate that there isn't a generic killer daily ritual. It's always either "sacrifice 2 survivors with (killer x)" or "(achieve power related event x times with killer x)" well if a killer is not one of your preferred killers or has a high skill curve so you don't want to invest tons of bp and practice into learning this killer you won't want to do it. Why can't we get "down a survivor x times" or "hook a survivor x times?" I'd rather use the killers I like using to complete a generic task than torture myself with a killer I haven't either played a lot or invested the bp for perks I like.

Doesn't matter how much you incentive playing a certain role, if the reason people aren't playing that role is that it isn't fun to play.

The answer to long queue times (which is almost always for survivors) is to incentivize more people to play killer. Right now the game is so imbalanced against killers at mid to high levels that few people are willing to take the abuse of playing killer. Either make quality of life changes to improve killer or at least rewards with more BP/shards to compensate for the abuse.

This is one of the few 'Band-Aid' fixes I've seen proposed on the forums that I can stomach. But this post has it:

As long as half the killer roster is stuck playing wack-a-mole with twenty plus pallets fortifying already strong tilesets, we're going to have this issue.

But I'm absolutely for your band-aid fix. Who knows when we're going to see anything bettter.

It would definitely be nice if, after waiting in a long queue, and a player disconnects while loading in cancelling the match, that you get blood points for it. You are essentially having to wait in multiple queues with nothing to show for it.

Yeah. I think incentivizing people to play killer would be extremely helpful for the average queue times.

Do something to bring killers back. That will fix the queues and terrible MMR system. But we seem to be doing the opposite of that lately. Any solution that isn't "increase the killer population" is just trying to play around the problem instead of addressing it. And no, giving killers some BP increase or something isn't going to incentivize people to play killer. Actual meaningful buffs and balance changes will. The "please play killer and we'll give you some free in game stuff..." isn't going to get people to put up with the current balance. They really seem adverse to buffing killer so the only other solution I could see is to adopt the F13 queue style. Or straight up block people from playing survivor if too many exist in the queue. Or block people from playing survivor if they have played too much survivor (you have played 10 survivor games in a row! You must play one killer game to unlock survivor mode again!)

Of course, all of that is absolutely absurd when you could simply fix the role, which would be way easier, less time consuming, and better for the game.. But that seems like such a taboo that it is barely worth bringing up anymore.

The first issue that kills Killers is the imbalances in maps. There are only two maps I can think of that Killers have a advantage but even then it's very Survivor sided.

All maps have too many safe tilesets that lead into another safe tileset. Semi and Full Infinity loops are still in the game, and loops that are not semi infinite become that when a pallet is dropped.

Haddonfield is the prime example of how bad map Balance is because it DOES have Infinity loops in it because I used it last night to keep a Pyramid Head occupied for 4 gens before he got in a hit. I'm no where near a good looper like most Survivors but the ease to loop with the tilesets is too easy.

they made a survey speaking about role incentives, similar to what tippy2k2 mentioned. It suggested that the high-demanded role could get 50%/100% bonus bloodpoints after the match. But they left it there and haven't addressed it since.

The issue seems to be that there aren't enough Killer players.

How far away are we from having enough? I'm not sure.

I'm also not sure why you would want to play Killer.

Getting more people to play killer, particularly at mid-high level, is the only solution here. Anything else is a band-aid.

I may be a masochist, but I play a lot of killer and my queue times are lightning quick essentially 24/7, while my surv queue times are always much longer; there's not even really a comparison. Everyone else I know who plays DBD has similar experiences. Only one reason for that.

Make killer less of a drag to play, and the rest will sort itself out.

The only way to make the survivor queue faster is to balance the game. This summer i had no issue trying to find a game as a survivor or killer. Its kinda funny that when they add boon perk as a survivor it take 10 minute before i find a game.

they wont, it took them how many years to give trapper, their poster boy, an extra trap to start out with.
