Ayrun’s Boil Over Video
I’m glad BHVR gave us a perk we can finally use outside of the meta. This was a good showcase on the perk and I’m honestly excited for it. Can’t wait to use it. What are your thoughts on the new Boil Over?
Comments
-
My thoughts on the new boil over is I bled out almost 40 survivors tonight.
73 -
I think it’s very problematic for the killer side in a lot of areas. Especially swf who want to abuse it.
28 -
I've had no less than 3 different squads sending me to maps where they can use this to make themselves unhookable to take the game hostage.
18 -
A meme perk for solo, a bully perk for SWF.
19 -
Exactly, my wall is already strewn with comments that I'm slugging for breaking hooks, probably tripling them. I don’t understand the survivors, if they don’t want to be hanged, then why whine later in the chat that they were left on the ground and that they will write a report? :)
15 -
Another abusable perk that mostly bully squads will use. The devs probably thought the game wasn’t toxic enough. Literally all this perk change did was make this game more toxic that’s all it did. Absolutely ridiculous.
9 -
"Hopefully we can pull something off."
Translation:
"Hopefully we can find a way to abuse this perk to be completely impossible to hook."
16 -
Have fun being slugged then.
14 -
Why does every survivor video have those oversaturated thumbnails?
The perk itself is dumb design. Completely trash for solo players and only works for squads who want to make the opposite side have as little fun as possible. Thankfully I already dodge every Haddonfield, Badham and RCPD offering anyway so the survivors will have to rely on map RNG to get use out of it.
14 -
It's overrated, if you have to go out of your way to try and maybe squeeze value you out of it it's not very good is it? You'll get squads who try to bully with it but it will almost never be organically useful.
3 -
Is that why everyone is running it? Rofl. It is kind of annoying because I am on a challenge where I can't use Iron Grasp/Agitation.
1 -
I wonder if the devs pull the trigger on the kill switch or if this becomes a second Howling Grounds.
1 -
The perk is too conditional to be useful. Same reason why barely anyone use Balanced Landing. Disregarding the basement the following maps only have a chance to spawn drops or will not spawn any at all: Shelter woods, Groaning storehouse, Suffocation pit, Gas Heaven, Wrecker's Yard, Fractured cowshed. I need to test the drop from the altars in the Family Residence is high enough to trigger that. Good luck using a perk that is dead on arrival on those maps.

I'm was playing against 4 SWF on Racon City. Survivors perks: Boon (Unbreakable effect), Boil Over, Soul Guard , Breakout. It was painful because of map...
1 -
As a pig player, all this perk did was make me get a guaranteed hat kill
2 -
If only map offerings were rare or nonexistent, and if that didn't leave still like... 2/3 of the maps in the game.
What low odds of being reduced to a really huge stagger distance.
4 -
If only map offerings instead prevented the corresponding realm from appearing
4 -
Here's the issue with this. You can get into situations where a downed survivor cannot be brought to a hook. I had this happen to me on Midwich with 2 different survivors. I had killed 2 of their teammates on hooks near the bathroom. There were no hooks in the courtyard or along the hallway going in either direction and I had to let them both bleed out because I couldn't hook them. Luckily the last slug was near the hatch and I was more than happy to let them get it to finally be done with that match.
5 -
It is like some weird survivor privilege that they think hook spawns and competent survivors are niche.
4 -
It is as "meta" as Built to Last. It just is yet another new toy for bully squads.
1 -
Buff like this shouldn't have happened I guess.
1 -
Oh, my bad. I was not aware we needed to burn offerings to activate perks for the whole match now.
Devs might as well give Tinkerer/Sprint Burst and other perks that are too consistent a 1/3 chance of being deactivated for trial unless you burn offerings and no one brings a Sacrificial Ward.
2 -
When people want to use it, it's almost certain that they will be able to use it, is my point. Even if they can't guarantee it, they're probably going to luck out anyway.
And the people that really want to use it? Oh boy, the bully squads are going to have no trouble providing enough suitable map offerings between them.
4 -
Kill Switch is only used in cases of severe gamebreaking bugs so it's unlikely, unless they count the fact that any drop as killer rn counts as a free 25% wiggle as a bug and disable it likewise.
1 -
Well, then everything is fine i guess.
Survivors having unusual long queues just seems to be something we´ll have to live with during the event.
2 -
Kinda suspect that he's going against default deathslingers with bad aim who just stare blankly into his flashlight beam. I'm on the same servers and have to be playing at really antisocial hours to get a borked matchup like that.
3 -
Nothing because I play tombstone piece majority of the time.
4 -
cause timmys are attracted to bright colors. the vids are clearly for the younger audience it attracts
the vids themselves are always some extremely new nooby killer who has literally no idea whats going on for a reason. omg this guy is so good, this killer is getting juiced!!! love ur vids!!!
9 -
Another second chance, why not i guess.
3 -
The thumbnails are extremely annoying

there's strict guidelines that must be adhered to
5 -
LMAO this video made my day, thanks!!
3 -
The same was said of boon: exponential abuse in the RPD library, but if you disregard content creators how many of those have you seen in your matches?
That's why my answer to the question posed by OP was it's too situational to be Meta. It can be obnoxious but it's easy to identify, I mean it gives you a hud element, and you can still slug and apply pressure somewhere else as a killer.
2 -
Yes, that was the funny part of this miserable boil-over experience ^_^.
1 -
I was getting bulled swfed with it lots today.
0 -
Yikes.
1 -
My queues are super quick but thanks for the concern ❤️
2 -
I haven't seen Exponential since a few days after release lmao
1 -
Overall, buffing underwhelming perks is good.
But this way this works fills such a niche that it can only get utility from bully squads.

When people bring up these types of abuse potentials, they're often not talking about your average match. There have been a very large amount of mechanics that have been extremely exploitable by SWFs in the past, while simultaneously being only average (or sometimes even just bad) without coordination. Pointing out these types of oversights is important since the dev team doesn't always test for them (or worse, ignores them and says "how bad can it really be?")
Remember the good old "Object is fine, because the person who has it tends to die more" argument, and the infamous instant flashlight situation. If all you care about is the outcome and not how abysmally bad something is for game health, you're missing the human element.
1 -
It’s a little busted & will most likely get nerfed due to abuse. I expect to see the drop from heights get a reduction lower than 25% wiggle meter gained.

And the next and the new chapter and even after that.

Lucky you.
Today was the first time in a long time that my survivor queue during the morning wasn't instant, but a 30 second queue. At the middle of the day, it reached 2 minutes.
Now I don't want to click ready during prime time. Cause then it's usually 5-10 minutes.
But if your queue is super quick, then I'm happy for you 😊
2 -
Holy #########.
This is a work of true beauty.
2 -
really? Mine where 10-15 minutes all last night. Killer takes 2-3 seconds. Do you only play during the day?
3 -
I agree on the topic of mechanics exploitation, but SWF-proofing everything will drastically limit the freedom of design. There is no Offering, Perk, or Mechanic that can be used by SQ that is not better used by a coordinated SWF, but they can adjust like when a CD was added to Soul Guard.
In that sense, this is a semi-casual game and should be balanced by the average match. Exploits will exist, and it's much easier to halt their propagation than to allocate uncountable human hours to give thoughts on every possible interaction with new and reworked systems.

It ok! Not worried about too much as killer as i'll just ignore and get the Boil Over user later or let them bleed out. When i do this i look for Soul Guard/Unbreakable. Good but very counterable.
0 -
Sure they are
1 -
IM DEAD LOL
1 -
Um, it's easily abusable by solo Q players too. There's toooons of places where you just cannot be hooked with boil over, ever. Period. Even with nobody helping you at all. It needs to be reworked. The fact SWF makes it like 5x more broken is just an added annoyance.
